Amazed that at only 19 she handled these ridiculous questions perfectly. She seems highly intelligent and I look forward to seeing more word of this amazing actor.
Right..... she is without so litttle experience, a great talented young lady and very great actor. I realy felt the movie Blue, and the drama at the end
"So what's the stupidest question you've been asked?" "So many. Like 'How do you feel about men only watching your movie to get excited' " "Oh, well how do you feel about that?"
i think it's awesome that Adèle is so passionate about delving into a character's life and becoming them; about adopting their ideals and moral values to make the role seem more in depth and believable. it's almost like she feels burdened by fame an exposure, which makes me happy because i find comfort in knowing that there are still actors who work for the purpose of passion.
I don't normally comment on YT but what the hey. First, thank you for posting this interview. Second, I have a little suggestion to the interviewer. Even though she obviously was tired it felt to me that Mr. Poland lost the interview from the beginning. She even gave him a clue by saying she was tired of stupid questions. Right there he should have thrown the scripted questions away and ask her about her shoe size or if she likes fishing or something else off the wall. The interview seemed really forced and his nervous laughter made it even worse. I'm not a professional reporter or a TV host but when in trouble why not take a page from some of the best. Craig Ferguson comes to mind off the top of my head. Just saying it would have made the interview more pleasant to watch.
totally agree with you. I find Mr. Poland sometimes disrespectful, especially to women for some reason... also, when he speaks to foreign actors, he doesn't adapt to their level of understanding of English.
TheSuperjunebug I know what you mean, I saw this as well. I felt like he didn't question Adele the same way he approached Christian Bale or something. Not trying to bash Mr. Poland, but Adele is way beyond her 19 years and has a very apparent rawness and honesty that is not a matter of age, but personality. Poland approaches her in a patronizing way at points because she is young, attractive and female, at least that's what I thought. I think she picks up on this pretty fast.
This guy, Mr. Poland, completely deserves bashing for this interview, because he behaved in very patronizing and disrespectful way, treating her like she is a child, without any reason. For me this guy is a total zero, completely inferior to her in every respect here. I would fire him immediately if I was his boss, or simply move him to a junior position, to go and learn a little bit how to do a proper interviewing job.
TickleMeElmo55 it is? give some examples. I just think she's smart. And it wasn't a compliment, I was stating that she is very smart which I can base on her interviews.
Yes, it is. And it was a compliment since any positive judgments are mainly considered compliments while any negative is considered, well, just "judgment." Just search for any interview of a young actress - notable, be it Emma Watson, to Shaileene Woodley, Saoirse Ronan, Dakota Fanning, Kristen Stewart - and read the comments.
Who can really imagine the groundhog day hell of spending perhaps years fielding the same inane questions and most especially regarding sexuality in this film when it was so irrelevant to the understated beauty of the story and the portrayals therein. Loved Dave's first interview with Adele and Lea and Adele's natural, unguarded humour and honesty was adorable. You can see she's being a trooper here seeing the job out but by God i would nearly rather hear the interviewer talk about anything BUT the film with Adele for her sake.
She looks like she's sick of doing the same interviews with the same questions. I bet she's more reluctant to answer anything based on the sensationalism that exploded after commenting on Kechiche's methods.
Adele and Lea are probably equal no1 talented actresses in the world now.Adele doesn't need these crappy interviews. She needs another authentic movie to star in.She is very young and has her whole life ahead of her.Her acting is the best there is.
What a lot of Americans don't get about the French is that while they often complain about Americans they love American films. It has been that way for a long time. The French new wave directors like Godard and Truffaut were obsessed with American film. Blockbuster directors that have an individual style like Tim Burton are far more appreciated by critics over there than in the U.S.
'Indie' directors like James Gray are also more appreciated over in France. They have a real film culture over there. They are very open minded. There are no rules.
TickleMeElmo55 I'm just pointing out how things are. If you have a problem with that, it's on you. If you are ignorant about film culture around the globe, fine, but it's not all about the Anglosphere.
she is a fantastic actress but its eight years she hasnt been in a big project i hope she will be bucuasue shes pure talent very talented than hollywood actress
the laughing dude, if you're going to do an interview learn how to control the school girl crush giggles. It makes the interview weird and awkward and less professional.
I don't understand why everyone's so negative about the interviewer. He's fully competent and kind. They were just in different moods so it didn't really clash this time.
I love that she wants to meet Judd Apatow, I hope he watched it and is currently thinking of a project to do with her :) haha. She seems so genuine and interesting and french
Look at the difference of her when shes interviewing with and without Lea.... You can tell... They seriously love eachother. Watch how she acts when she's with Lea in interviews.
"It's inside, the interior of the character" Adele says near the very end. The interviewer should have focused more on that facet of the subject, something in-depth. Also, I think it's obvious by her demeanor that she is tired of silly, playful questions. Twice, the interviewer asks her about which questions she's been asked. At 25 minutes, the interviewer seemed to run out of questions. I realize this was not an easy interview given how evidently tired she is of this process, but she appears to be someone who does not want to tolerate BS, and is looking for substance.
Brendan Taylor Adele is great. But I'm not sure she wanted anything of anything that day. I think she was done with talking about the film, being alone talking about the film, being on the circuit, and especially trying to translate her feelings to English. She did a great job with all of the above, but she was exhausted. And yes, I was certainly anticipating a different interview subject that day. The previous chat was all laughs. I wasn't out of questions at 25 minutes (I don't write questions), but I was really to stop torturing her. And I don't think I could have taken it to the next level without speaking in French and finding something other than the film to discuss.
cicicitron that's so sad. Lea was such a great part of this movie. I was so hoping for a sequel...guess that went out of the window with all the drama. Hope they can patch things up. So sad for the whole cast to have this aftermath after such brilliant work and result.
Adele you are incredible, Blue Is The Warmest Color is the hottest movie I have ever seen. You don't even need to try to be sexy, you simply are in a big way. I look forward to watching the rest of your career.
shes confused and learning that you have to sleep with powerful people in Hollywood to get famous. thats what she means by its weird and having to meet all these different people. thats how Hollywood works. hope she makes it though. shes a very good actress.
Watched the whole thing today on payed sick time. That song got me following this. Completely out of character coming from a 30s white male country boy. Wasn't bad. Needed closure on some things and her friends seemed to all disappear.
I hope she doesn't fall into that hollywood shit, where every new female actor is just some kind of passive character that needs to be rescued by a muscular action hero all the time.
I am so shocked that most of these journalists who spoke English had absolutely nothing interesting to ask her, in most interviews. This film and everybody involved in it is so bigger than anything that North American press can understand and can deal with. This idiotic guy who interviews her here keeps giggling all the time in such an irritating way, that its painful to listen. He simply has nothing intelligent or meaningful to ask.
I may just be an idiot... but this is the second Adele interview of that season and it is a marked contrast from the first. My laughter is probably uncomfortable, adjusting to her unhappiness on the day, when I was used to a pretty happy actor. On the other hand... why so angry?
I don't appreciate your attitude in interviewing this young actor, Mr. Poland. Why were you so uncomfortable with her? You had a taunting, aggressive tone, in my opinion. She is a brilliant young actor . You didn't treat Timothee Chalamet this way, nor any other actor.
This was the second interview with Adele that season. I was expecting the Adele I had met before then. She came in, pretty much done with the process of chasing Oscar. I expected the whole thing to be light and easy. it wasn't. I certainly wasn't taunting her. If I was pulling her teeth a bit, it was because I was chasing what had been there before. A kinda sad interview for me.
She seems so sullen. Like someone's dog just died or something. :( Must have been a really special film. Like there's some undercurrent of emotion that conflicts with the film's success. ... ... first love? ... ... crap. I get the feeling a lot of hearts just broke and imploded. I hate that feeling. It's not easy bearing your heart and soul. But, all film technique aside, that's really what it's all about. That's what draws people to the movies. It's the heart of films that matter. People come to movies to feel what they want or even need to feel by empathizing with others, especially for such formative times in many young peoples' lives like this, and that in and of itself is quite an accomplishment. But, it is only one phase of many phases of life. There are a *lot* of phases in the grand tapestry of life yet to experience, some good, some bad. This experience was one of the better ones, and it was successful because people empathized with it, so clearly there were people who empathized with the story and the characters. I'm sure lightning will strike again... just not always in the ways you expect. It's not just about the industry. It's about artists communicating something important and from the heart with a lot of people. Were do you go? Find new truths from familiar but different experiences, figure out how your reality has changed, and bring what you learned with you to the next venture out. Hopeuflly, that will guide you on where you want to go. Fan, artist, and people empathy meets! :D
Is this interviewer suggesting that she would "fit" in that pretentious boring nonsense show called "Girls"? I can't believe how stupid he is. Poor Adele. She really had to talk to all sorts of mind limited but patronizing pointless "journalists". She is smarter than people twice as her age. For me, she is a heroine for having to put up with this people.
If she wasn't so beautiful she would have had a case of 'resting bitchface' through most of the interview. By the end she had enough of those questions.
This guy, "David Poland", asked her about her favorite directors, actors, and other people from American scene, and then when she answered, he was giggling, like she said something silly. In my opinion he was trying to mock her, but she was way too professional and superior compared to him. She is an artist, and he is an incompetent little nobody.
It's so funny that Lea and Adele told in interviews that they used fake pussies and so on.... of course that was not true. But it;s funny that the journalists can't believe they just did it all for real.
Victor Willis Sure, but that's different from saying he is a master. I agree with her that Americans are generally better at comedy than the French though.

"Oh, well how do you feel about that?"
What part of the video?
Yeah wtf was that about
DP/30: So you're ready for anything.
Adele: I'm ready for a nap.
It's kinda sad that she seems drained from everything, she was so happy and bubbly in the last one.
Says "I hate this question, it's stupid", interviewer proceeds to asks the exact same question
There’s no such thing as a stupid question.
Poxow why do you write this?
no wonder the director cast her to play Adele, she is so real and genuine all the time
i think it's awesome that Adèle is so passionate about delving into a character's life and becoming them; about adopting their ideals and moral values to make the role seem more in depth and believable. it's almost like she feels burdened by fame an exposure, which makes me happy because i find comfort in knowing that there are still actors who work for the purpose of passion.
shes so intellectual, honest and raw and the american interviewer can't handle anything but unimportant smalltalk
Intellect for an american … it’s only random french culture for french.
Love how she favors NYC. Sign of a passionate girl with lots of soul! Just like the city.
love her so much! her interviews are so interesting
Why does the interviewer laughs everytime she turns to the translator when she doesn't understand the question? I think it's rude.
no, i think he's just nervous in front of Adèle.
Absolutely the most incredible acting and creative passionate story line I've seen in decades! 👏👏👏
adele is amazing

Eres muy buena actriz , Adele admiro mucho tu trabajo , eres una gran inspiracion para toda la juventud !!!! Cuidate mucho !
Intelligent, beautiful, talented, straight up, raw and real and very charming! Adele
I hope she was well-compensated for Blue. She was outstanding.
she's wonderful.
She is an legendary actress.❤️
"Yeah Martin, call me."
Adorable.
This interview is so sad. What all of the actors have to go thru promoting their films is just sad. And Adele is just getting started. Good luck!
she is really, really smart.
This is an often over used compliment towards young actors who aren't from Disney.

Still gorgeous but she looks completely shattered here.

Adele would be great in a James Bond movie.
Im a HUGE fan of Adele’s but it was obvious she didnt want to be there from the beginning.. not the interviewer’s fault
where's Lea? werent they in LA together? :( I miss them both! the happy times! :(
I think Lea went to LA for a bit to promote the film and attend some screenings, but she's filming at the moment which obviously restricts her.
there were arguments between Léa and the director so she stoped promoting the film

She looks so sad in this interview. Leave her alone.
She thinks Apatow is a 'master'. Really? Wow.
Not to mention she likes Quentin Tarantino... bleh.
Apatow's actors are just really good at delivering the type of comedy she likes, is what she is saying boils down to. I agree with her.
Kenneth Huang you're wylin' if you don't like Tarantino. #ModernMaster
Victor Willis Sure, but that's different from saying he is a master.
I agree with her that Americans are generally better at comedy than the French though.
Victor Willis The French are better at making quality drama though. Europeans make better family dramas than Americans by far.
