Thank you, Preston. You introduced me to the entire concept of quality shoes. I value your opinion. There is no one I trust more when it comes to shoes
Great review. I have more Cobbler Union shoes than any other brand in my closet. They are truly nice shoes, and rotate some wild designs into their in season. For the beveled waist you want the City or the Louvre/Ritz lasts.
Perfect review and so eloquently put. I do own the Winston Museum Calf as well as a Double Monk Strap. Cobbler Union is fast becoming one of my favorite shoe brands.
I really like this format for the videos. I would love to see you wearing (don’t know if they would allow it), just to get an impression of the feel while wearing, a view of the shoes from your perspective and how they would crease, like you did for the boots. Thank you for all your hard work.
Great video as always Preston. I cut my proverbial teeth on Cobbler Union. I have 7 pairs from them..............I would LOVE to see you do the Sunburst Patina on the Wingtips. I think that they'd look really dope with that Patina.
I had a pair of the Roberts for a while know and find them to be very comfortable. One of the reasons they are so comfortable to walk in is because the soles are made from a softer leather than say a JR sole. The quilted footbed also provides a decent amount of cushioning. They are simply great shoes especially for the price. On the patina color recommendation, I second your choice of green.
I am a huge Cobbler Union supporter! I have 7 pairs and looking to pick up two more (sneaker and an oxblood smith loafer). I love everything about the brand and truly believe they are the best value in mens shoes on the market. Their staff and leadership is absolutely amazing and I cant recommend them enough! Thankfully I live in metro Atlanta, so stopping in to see the team is rather easy!
Hi Preston. Unfortunately the cobbler union doesn't manufacturer the George boots anymore and the Winston mustard yellow, most of the sizes are sold out.
The Winchester is very similar but I'd recommend going for the smooth rather than the pebbled leather options. I have the black (pebbled) and the brown (smooth). The black I got at regular price and while the craftsmanship is great the larger does take a bit to break in. The brown Winchester I got on clearance and at under $300 they were a steal and while the color wasn't the most glamorous brown everything got fixed with a touch of patina. The calf leather feels super smooth and even the leather lining feels 2× better than the pebbled version.
Stunning shoes and I heard about this brand not long ago and this week I placed my first order I have Magnanni and TBNY a few Cole Haan’s for comfort and Johnston &Murphy a few Boss as well but everything is shoes from Cobbler Union I ordered a pair of boots in my eyes the most beautiful boots I have ever seen in my life they are black leather and black suede boots I’ll come back and write the model and my thoughts, a American brand deserves to be supported by us and specially when they do such a amazing work y’all might mention other per se Italian brands but this shoes are at the same price and Goodyear welded and amazing designs so support our brands!!!
Preston, I think they taper the lace holes closer together going towards the top in case you have a ‘V’ gap. This will make all the lace holes end up the same distance apart and this fools the eye into not seeing the gap. Also, when you do these reviews or first impression videos, I think it would be a good thing to measure the height of the heel in respect to the inside and outside ball of the ankle. A high quality shoe will have an asymmetric design to properly fit the lay of inside and outside ankle bone. I think that’s critical to a comfortable fit in a shoe and it’d be interesting to see which brands just use a generic pattern and which have these fine measurements taken into account. Great review, that golden harvest’esch shoe is such a beautiful color. They all are actually. Thanks!
My black cap toe oxford is their Richard. Nice beveled waist and red sole. I like it. What a surprise that you purcchased THAT boot. I've been eyeing them for awhile.
That sole of the first pair, I thought it was almost like a Chesterfield. Looks very comfortable. And that outer sole almost mirror smooth. Unbelievable craftsmanship. The second pair, I'd wear it without a doubt. Probably blasphemy, but even under a pair of nice jeans (not a suit man... Yet) and those boots, wow! That grain like look. Never seen anything like that. Let me head over to their website.
I own that pair of boots but in dark brown, freaking love them! I also own that pair of oxfords but in black, it's a great pair! Maybe I should go ahead and purchase the Winstons in dark brown....
I've been wondering about Cobbler Union. I see them frequently as they do lots of marketing. So I'm a little suspicious when I see something being marketed a lot. They have some great casual styles and just announced a winter sale. So before I dove in, I thought I would check in... And I'm glad I did. I haven't seen anything negative so far. Quality looks deserving of the marketing. I really like the Winstons and it's bold styling. I'd wear them with light-colored chinos and jeans. Maybe the right colored suit as well. Thanks for the review.
For the Winston, a slightly darker color, still gold but maybe a late harvest. Just accents in critical spots. The closer to the sole, the darker the tint. Maybe a slight avocado or Kelly green accent here and there, but only minimal.
Stellar video, I had an endorphin rush from beginning to end, not in the least due to the alluring, sensual and riveting narration. These shoes are marvellous, the Winston brogues are truly spectacular, a dressed-up version of a Tricker's classic. They might have a touch of burnishing but nothing more. And then there is the use of that gorgeous Prince of Wales backdrop fabric; such class, such style, worthy of a Pal Zileri suit. This video is epic.
Fabulous review and long awaited because I have hesitated to buy because of hassles in shipping to Canada and making a mistake. To me the Winston in that color is a knockout color for those with panache (and self confidence)! Very similar to the difficult to find vintage Imperials I've been looking for in that color. Insofar as changing them up I would not go there if it was anybody other than yourself doing the work, way too dangerous. A 2 tone color scheme might work with green hues but would make them even more 'Dandy' than a regular spectator shoe IMHO. In your hands it will no doubt come out superbly !
I’ve had my eye on CU for a couple of years now but each time I visit I’m disappointed that EEE widths aren’t available. I wish they did because those Winstons are a grail shoe for me now. I can’t get a hold of a Golden harvest Florsheim so this would be a handsome substitute.
As far as the presentation goes I like this format which makes me feel that we are interacting. As to the patina, I am wondering how an autumnal look, you know yellowes, gold and brown will look like? Ott you think? Anyways nice to see your post. And thanks for all the information.
Absolutely love all the shoes!! The mustard yellow wing tips are my favorite, followed by the boots and then the cap toes. I wouldn’t add any color myself, but I’m anxious to see what you come up with.
I remember a couple weeks back when you commented that you were reviewing them on AE entrust. I have to say I was pleased with my Richards. But if I get another pair of oxfords I am going to go with that style. I agree with you that I like 6 eyelets. Though George though WOW. I think a blue on those Winston would pop nicely. Though it sounds to me ( something in your voice sound like you want to have your cake and eat it to) like you might need to add a second pair for yourself to leave un modified.
Speaking as the daughter of a man who jumped into Africa, Sicily, Normandy and Holland with the 82nd Airborne Division, your boots are *not* reminiscent of jump boots. They are, however, quite similar to the pebble grain boots that were favoured by tankers. General Patton was known to wear them! One thing you missed on the Robert, which was not present on the other two shoes/boots, was the Gentleman's notch. If desired, it could be easily added, or I should say, subtracted from the others! The balmoral Oxford is beautiful. I also like the boots. Just wish their website was a bit more helpful on their shoes width. I was hoping to buy their Adelaide but just not sure if it suits narrow feet.
The shoe models are named after friends/seed investors of the founder, which I thought was cool. I bought a pair in Atlanta a few years back, and the owner happened to be at the store. They're definitely passionate about shoe making. Lovely guys (Daniel and Eric) and great shoe, albeit slightly on the heavy side and I needed a half a size smaller than usual. PS: just posted the results of the first (amateur) polish I gave them... Far from perfect, but I was really proud of myself LOL
I recently bought their Richard another Black Cap Oxford and I wear a 9.5 US EEE. It’s true that they don’t offer the same last options in wider, however they often make the same model in other lasts. I originally was looking at their city last but they recommended the 371 version in size 10. It fits perfectly. My recommendation if on their web site look at the last description and message their CS they were helpful. Though sadly some of their styles only to date come in one last. Most have at least another version.
Honestly there’s room for all 3 in a wardrobe and they come in different price ranges. Cobbler Union shoes are less expensive than Carmina and are just as good if not better.

For sure no colors. After the Creme Universalle, I was gonna hit it with the Saphir Neutral Creme Polish and then Saphir Neutral Hard wax. Staying in line with your method. How’s that sound? Im pretty lucky, I work in the same building as Cobbler Union man.
I'd love to see your opinion on some european brands (Berwick or Shoepassion), most of the brands you review aren't available in Europe (or the taxes are just too high for it to be a good choice).
Isn't calling it a "balmoral oxford" a bit like saying something is "Verde green"? I was under the impression that: (American) Balmoral = Oxford (English) (American) Blucher = Derby (English) Please correct me if I'm wrong.
A Balmoral is a shoe with a vertical seam running along side the shoe that separates the lower from the upper or a shaft, if it’s a boot. In the United States, the term is used incorrectly since actual Balmorals do exist and still carry the name.
Its so odd to me it took you so long to give them a try. For the money, it is damn hard to not take them over AE. When they are on sale they have the same kind of price to quality ratio as something like TLB. The customer service is also great in my experience. Gonna have to look into getting a pair of those george boots!
@@TheElegantOxford my Francis pair in museum sit easily in my top 5 shoes in my 50+ pair collection. I want more but the budget has been so tight the past couple years lol
Great shoes and styles BUT the half quilted insert will pull up when you remove your tree's they catch on the front of it and pull up where it's glued. I own 3 pair and all 3 do this. Never had this issue with AE. Oh yea they give you full length insert. Daniel you guys could do better.
That cognac museum at the beginning was absolutely stunning.

Its so odd to me it took you so long to give them a try. For the money, it is damn hard to not take them over AE. When they are on sale they have the same kind of price to quality ratio as something like TLB. The customer service is also great in my experience. Gonna have to look into getting a pair of those george boots!
You’re completely right! I slept on Cobbler Union for too long
@@TheElegantOxford my Francis pair in museum sit easily in my top 5 shoes in my 50+ pair collection. I want more but the budget has been so tight the past couple years lol
So many shoes, so little money. I totally understand that!
Glad CU worked out so well for you
Those shoes look incredible! I'm sold on the boot and the wingtip. What do you think about sizing? Is it similar to an AE?
Hey Joshua. They run true to size for sure but don’t offer wide widths it seems.
Great shoes and styles BUT the half quilted insert will pull up when you remove your tree's they catch on the front of it and pull up where it's glued. I own 3 pair and all 3 do this. Never had this issue with AE. Oh yea they give you full length insert. Daniel you guys could do better.
The winstons look like Loake Chesters
Could you review a pair of church’s from the UK
I’m interested in Church’s too. Just don’t like what’s happened since Prada purchased them
@@TheElegantOxford yeah that’s fair enough
Where are the shoes made.
Cobbler Union are made in Spain
Are you familiar with Undandy out of Portugal? I own 6 pairs and love them... customizable and a great at around 200 usd each
Wingtips look like Baby pooh brown
What pants to wear with those?
With the Robert? I’d say Navy Blue slacks for sure
@@TheElegantOxford No pinstripes?
Sure that works too!
Please do jacket and cowboy boots videos
I hate that you're forcing me to buy more shoes. Tell me more. lol
