Waiting for DooM Eternal? Me too. Why not watch the original Hell on Earth until then? ^^ Today this would have been a DLC expension rather than a new game. Graphics are mostly the same and there is only one new weapon, but a bunch of new demons have been added. The maps are bigger now too. Overall it is more of the same good ol DooM action. Just like the other classic shooters, this was played on DosBox. No HD mods, no higher resolutions. The Midis were played on a Roland Soundcanvas which was the best midi playback you could get in the 90s.
"Today this would've been a DLC expansion rather than a full game" I mean, other than the fact it doesn't follow the same "7 main maps, 1 secret map, 1 boss map" system that Doom/Ultimate Doom's episodes followed, Doom 2 very well could pass as an expansion along the same lines as Ultimate Doom was.
@@UnchainedEruption whoops. Better late than never. This was recorded from actual Roland hardware. But not while playing. I mix the music into the video after I recorded the game. I had a Roland SCC 1 ISA card many years ago and the music was recorded from that card before I had to give it up.

I think Doom Eternal can be considered a Doom II reboot like how Doom 2016 was a reboot to the original Doom, even though 2016 featured enemies that were only introduced in Doom II.
43 here. You should check "Boomer Shooters" on Steam. There are actually a lot of new old shooters, many still made on current versions of GZDoom or the Build engine. (Ion Fury for example) And also on the free side you can find tons of great community projects, not just new levels but completely new games build on these engines. Endless fun without ever having to deal with something really new.
I mixed in the music after I played it. Since the music just keeps playing when you load a savegame it would have been impossible to cut the footage properly. I took the music order from the Doomwiki. So if I mixed up two tracks blame them 😉 Also the only alternative to get the Roland SC versions of all Midis into a Longplay would be to use something like GZDoom and MP3s. But since we only show original versions playing without music and mixing it in afterwards is the best solution.
The term "PC" covers all x86 compatible machines. "MS-DOS", "Windows" and "Linux" are the operating systems that run ON a PC. There were games that got released as a DOS and as a Windows version.
Personally I got very disappointed with Doom 2 as it had so much potential for innovative improvements, and yet it did not feel much more than an WAD with some extra attributes.
@@LyingSecret . I am not sure why he's using it on people and demons. Is he killing them because they are possessed or something. Like I said it's been decades ago since I have played.
@@j_mack1996 Yeah it's cool, I just wanted to clarify the question first :D The story goes that they are somehow demonised or possessed by the spirits of hell that were unleashed along with the monsters. The official name for the most basic pistol enemy is 'zombieman', but the original manual also calls them 'former humans' so you could take it either way I guess.

@Exam Name It's about the version. This is the original MS Dos version, no windows port ect. The fact that it's emulated doesnt change that.

One of the top 5 FPS ever in my humble opinion, freed form nostalgia effect cause it was the first FPS I've ever played....
Also free from nostalgia, i don't know. I don't really like it. The sounds are so annoying as hell.
First FPS was Halo 2.
This is Hardcore gaming at its best.

Pretty cool they added a secret Wolfenstein level. Along with Doom, Id was responsible for creating the Wolfenstein series.
I love Doom and Doom II !

Sure you didn't remember Doom 1 or Final Doom?
@hateusernames2 Or did you forget the FPS that started the FPS genre off, the mighty Wolfenstein 3D
This must have been like Doom Eternal for the people of 1994
No, back in our days we used to numberize games and movies properly. ;-)

Always loved the music in this game :-)

MAP09 one of the best DOOM soundtracks
Heres something that you will never unsee
In the cover art of the game the cyberdemon has a nipple
Call me crazy, but DOOM II is 10 times better than DOOM ‘93. I prefer and like the sequel more
Sequels usually improve
You're not crazy.
I saw the spider mastermind vs cyberdemon in the showdown battle!
extreme violence combined with catchy music
Can't go wrong here.
Never played this game but I have played doom 64 and that game was very tough
I can’t tell if the soundtrack for Map 3 is from Lord of the Rings or Tom and Jerry lmfao!! Love these classics☠️☠️⚔️⚔️😈😈
Mock me all you want, this is my favorite Doom. Yes, i prefer it over Eternal and 2016.
They don't make games like they used to. I mainly play old classics on any system. I don't get excited for new games anymore, but I'm old at 39 lol.

Doom 2: doomguy's revenge
xd
Fun fact: this is when Doomguy lost his family
2:56:44 - what is going on? This is not official soundtrack of this map, it must be "Them bones" by "Alice in chains".
The game was recorded without music. In editing I added it to the video. It is possible that I mixed 1 up.
It's actually "Angry Chair" by Alice In Chains. Not "Them Bones".

Yep, definitely doing Doomguy justice.
Doom 2 is a fighting game ever!
Also, Hans Grosse got uber pwned by Doom Guy!
