Hey Joe - love the videos. Slush here in Minnesota is mainly a function of heavy snows before the ice gets thick enough to support - snow fall presses down and cracks ( or ice fishing holes ) allow the water to quirt up. Large cold fronts ( in time ) will freeze down and get rid of some of that slush. We have been experiencing slush a lot more lately! Getting a long and wider track is the way to go! Looking forward to your next entry.
Thank you, I have the 20 inch and Brandons is the SWT 24. Helps a lot, Length does too. And especially power and paddles over the slush.
I feel like the slush is between fluctuation of temperatures. Snow melt, snow, rain. After yesterday's rain and this and next weeks temps the ice will look beautiful.

Love it Joe!!! That is a great start to what i know was a nastily cold week up here!!! Milwaukee makes a fan that would run off the light battery to move air around. We use the Harbor Freight version for our Otter Monster Lodge, that thing is HUGE (8×16)!!!! That is an awesome boot rack and stand!!! Stay warm and tight lines.🤙

Hey Joe: Did my first overnight a couple of weekends ago in eastern South Dakota. It was cut short when around 11:00 pm I pulled a 6lb walleye out of the hole, tripped on equipment in my hub and my apple iPhone 12 got knocked off the bucket and disappeared down the 10” hole!! Because I was talking to wifey at the time I left everything, 30 mph winds, buzzed home as she was comin lookin for me. Damn. Going out this weekend with my new iPhone 13. Had a blast but do not set phones anywhere near the holes. 😂🤨Thanks for the videos.

Last year on long pond I hit the slush bad as well. Luckily I had my summit, it was like jet skiing!!

Great video can’t wait for more… hey at around the 17:40 mark in the video u had the camera facing the door inside the shack it was a great different view of the shack.. I like the fishing but I like the camping part just as much.. the way u had the camera it was a brooder view.. love it
Thank you. I love that part to the video making too. Hampered by brutal weather I rarely got the chance to do anything more than the minimum with the cameras the rest of this series but I worked a few in, thanks for noticing and commenting.
Never had moose burger but mule deer is tops for me.
Moose is tremendous. I’ve been around a bunch of mule deer but never had the pleasure.

While my experience with the people of Maine has been limited to more coastal towns, it does seem like the more moose a person eats, the stronger the Maine accent. There must be something in the water up there.

1994 i went thru green lake. scared me for life. hardly ever explore a lake since then unless on a known trail. maybe someday ice come back around

I've been considering those heat-activated fans for our woodstove in the house. It would be nice to have something that doesn't require electricity.
For sure, I have been using them in my woodshop for a year now they help a lot. I have a single large one and the smaller double I think the single large does a better job.

Pretty sure the slush is caused by the lake water getting pushed out through cracks from the weight of the snow pushing down on the ice

2 questions how much does brandons shack weigh and how much ice. Does he. Need. To support it
not sure on weight but usually about 6+ inches is safe for it.
Joe what size hooks are you using for the trout
I use small light wire hooks for the brookies in case I have to snip them. Gamakatsu drop shot 2s or 2/0
How bout for the leader wish I could meet you up there looks likes like a blast. The snow screwed up my day today and getting on a new lake is definitely a challenge on figuring out where to set up
How much propane do you bring/use for a trip like this?
I went through one 20 lb tank but I rarely run it at night just a half hour or so in the morning and an hour or so after dark.
It's ridiculous that you have to take your lawyer fishing with all the regs anymore.
Moosehead and some other lakes are tough to navigate the book . I’ll post a tool I just learned about next series
