Nice video, thanks for sharing. It's kinda neat to see a video from people who know what they're doing. I always did a trip as soon as the ice went out...plenty of water, no flies, and no people. My first Bow Trip was in 1980, last time I went was 2011 when my kid was 11. Heading up next Sunday (5/9) to do the whole trip from my camp in Holeb. Thanks again....you made me feel young again.

Ted thank you for the comment, I'm glad you liked the video. We really enjoyed this river, and you nailed it on missing the flies and people I suspect we might have been the first boots on the portage trail this year. I hope you enjoy your trip.

Thanks for sharing! My Moose River Bow Trip was from our log cabin on Big Wood Lake by canoe round trip early 1960s.

Love seeing the setting poles. Nicely done! The only time I did the Moose Loop I wore a head net the whole time. And glad I had dental floss to sew up the tent netting every time the lab bathed through the net to escape the bugs. Rather deal with a little colder weather myself!!

Thanks. It was hard poling with the water so high but we had zero flies with it being so cold and I am fine with that as well.

Pretty sweet, and you beat the blackflies. Really wish Old Town would bring on T-formex and their old boat line up. There are other boat companies, looking at Esquif at the moment.

I have a 16' Wenonah T-Formex Prospector, great canoe, love the hull material. It compares very favorably with my Royalex OT Trippers, Penobscot, and older Wenonah Prospector. It scratches easier than I'd like, but so does Royalex.

@@ScottOethatBullMoosePatrol Good to know. What hull do you prefer for tripping the Prospector or the Tripper? Thanks for the comment.

@@feenerproductions for tripping with a load, I probably prefer the Old Town Tripper. At 17'2" the Tripper has considerably more volume and room for a tandem crew, and I actually enjoy paddling it solo. The Tripper's hull seems to have more primary stability, the Prospector a bit sleeker in the ends, a bit rounder bottom, and a "sportier" overall feel. The 16' Prospector is a small for a tandem tripping canoe. The bow area is especially tight, but I really like it for paddling solo in the classic style. The Tripper is great to pole in with it's fairly forgiving flat bottom, good for cruising. The Prospector is a lot of fun to play around in rapids with the pole, more responsive, but also more tiring, you're always on guard. The hull materials are very close, but I probably give the edge to T-Formex as it seems a bit stiffer, less oil canning. I haven't had a chance to paddle a 17' or 18' Prospector with a load, but bet it would be great! I really enjoy canoe camping in the 20' XL Tripper.
