- What the hell is going on with Paradox Interactive? It seems they have a knack for delaying and cancelling projects. So let's have a look at their track record and Life by You for more information.
Life by You was set to be one of the most anticipated games in the life sim genre and it had fans foaming at the mouth as another sims competitor. But unfortunately after years of work it was announced recently that Paradox hadn’t just cancelled the game completely but they’ve also shut down the entire studio.

really enjoyed your commentary! Paradox certainly has a bad track record when it comes to seeing a game through to the end. I was disappointed to see so many people online place all the blame on Life By You’s developers.
Thanks so much! 😸 It's a shame the devs are getting the blame considering they've got a really tough journey ahead of them. I'm just so disappointed Paradox couldn't see the big picture. Huge opportunity missed.

Really enjoyed this video! I was very disappointed when I heard that LBY wouldn't be released, especially because it had already been in development for so long. At least there's still Paralives to look forward too...
average pdx moment, except their mainline grand strategy line they have cancelled so many games.
The words "Bloodlines 2" are enough to make my blood boil, and doubt they will ever be trustworthy again.

Though I have to say I am very satisfied with Victory 3 and Sphere of Influence.
I think it was a great move. It shows they are not willing to sell trash, and that they hopefully have learned by being burned recently. It wasn't cheap, but way cheaper than having this team develop a mediocre game and updating it for years to come. It didn't look that impressive, and they can remake this in no time with the A team, if needed.
Paradox has always been a pretty toxic publisher imo. They push out a half finished, unoptimized game, then "fix" them with overpriced dlc. I think it worked for them in strategy games, because they just don't have any real competition in their niche, but it just doesnt work as well in the non strategy market. From what I remember, their previous CEO was pushed out in 2021 in part because she had been focusing on other genres and publishing, so this might just be the current leadership having a bunch of studios and IPs they neither want nor believe in, and they're just waiting for any excuse to cancel them. Too bad it was this game and not VTMB 2.
