Sandy Bay 1989 TFL Club Song

This recording was provided to me by the State Library of Tasmania and has been published with permission from the Sandy Bay Past Players Association. Recorded by Spectangle Productions circa 1989 and originally distributed via audio cassette.

I wonder why they changed the lyrics of the 1989 songs compared to the 1971 versions - which are a lot more stronger and aggressive, which is what it should be because well - it’s footy!

Yes totally agree. Most of them had been altered to some degree and some were completely changed (Sandy Bay and New Norfolk most notably). Clarence changed from Maroon and White to Red and White after the 1978 season so theirs was slightly altered.

First time I've heard that version since 1997.
Never realised that they'd completely changed the lyrics until I just heard that. Sounds pretty lame compared to the original, no wonder the old players and supporters sing the original and not this version.
On a side note, the Tassie Mariners TAC Cup team also used this song back in the 1990s, but went with "Mariners, Mariners that's our name".
Have heard it played at North Hobart for their matches back then.

@@nate_37 hopefully soon we can get South Launceston’s song too. Since both North Hobart and South Launceston have the same song and there is an instrumental part in South’s song, do you reckon North Hobart’s full song would have an instrumental part as well? The only videos of their song here on YT don’t have the actual instrumental part
