It's one of this bar magic drinks... where supposedly unmatching flavours combined result in something amazing. I recommend classic bold london dry gin for this... as it indeed must punch it's way out.
I think it is the Americano, which is basically a Negroni eschewing the gin and diluting it with soda water - it even predates the creation of the Negroni if I recall correctly. James Bond does order a Negroni however in the Fleming short story 'Risico'.

I am currently on holiday in Mallorca. I've been sur la plage all day, and now, post shower, I'm off to the hotel bar for a delicious negroni myself. Bottoms up!
I just had a negroni that was aged in an oak barrel for 6 months. The smell was strong but the taste was extremely smooth. It was my first time having a negroni
How could that be possible if Vermouth (fortified wine) becomes bad after 3 days of not beeing in a cold place?? Please find out cause I´m really curious about trying it.
Aperol can be subbed for Campari for those that want a drink that is less bitter. The only sacrifice is the drink is slightly weaker in alcohol content.
Negroni is not from the Latin word for "to open." Aperitif is from the Latin word "to open." The Negroni is named for Count Negroni, who invented the cocktail.
In Milan there is anorher version called Mistaken Negroni (Negroni Sbagliato) without Gin but with Prosecco or Spumante. Try... It's more light than original Negroni.
Beautifull video but forget a crucial ingredient for perfect negroni.. The garnish is not a peel but is a slice of orange, Is the little bit of juice that makes it a perfect smooth combination, i alwais squeeze it, trust me and try it!
Everyone says Campari is a bitter liquor but I find that when I add Campari it makes my Negroni very sweet. I think I have the same brand as what you are using here.
Howcast is the best and I love it so much I’ve been inspired to create a “How not to” make this drink, it was so much fun but tasted horrible:) Not like this one I bet :) Awesome video
3 things. 1.- Stir it for at least 30 seconds to achieve proper water dilution from ice and cold temperature. 2.- Use the original recipe of one part of each component. 3.- Use a much flavored gin, like Martin Miller or London No.1. Note: If the finished cocktail is too bitter for you, change the vermouth you are using for a less bitter one or substitute the amount of Campari with 1/2 oz. of Campari and 1/2 oz. of Aperol.
I would add to the other comment that maybe this just isn't the drink for you. Campari is definitely an acquired taste. I've acquired it and I'm never going back, but I do remember that first negroni and wondering as I slowly sipped it if it was really supposed to taste like this or was possibly some sort of practical joke.
I had a Negroni tonight, two actually. As well as a a Gin martini, and something called a Millennial at my local watering hole. The Negroni was a bit too bitter for me.
tanqueray will make anything taste like perfume...go w/ Beefeater or something similar/better, Hendricks, maybe? Stay away from big names like Tanqueray and Bombay, those gin's are like drinking pine cones.
What's the point of you grabbing the ice with your hand and then putting it in the cup and then putting the ice back in your hand just to put it in he sti glass?
I know it seems redundant, but when serving something on the rocks it's always better to strain over fresh ice. The ice you use to stir has already started to melt so it will water the drink down faster. Fresh ice is larger and has less surface area so it will melt slower, keep the drink colder for longer while diluting it less. :)
The ice isn't technically larger. If you used the same amount of ice for two drinks but one was a bunch of average ice cubes and the other was one large puck, there would be less surface area in the bigger ice cube.
Jonathan Morse, basic geometry :) Take one big cube of ice. Now imagine that cube cut in half. Same amount of ice, but more surface area (the part where it is cut).
"Water down your drink too much" ????? Bro, I buy 5 or six lemons and limes, dice them and freeze in sealed bags to use INSTEAD of ice cubes which "water down" any drink: Martins especially (my fav).
+marcelo chasi What you imply is partially correct. This specific version is also known as a camparinette, althought that is usually not strained over ice. But it is in fact a negroni. You will find various recipes of the negroni, which call for a splash of carbonated water. If we believe Harry Craddock, this is simply optional.

Campari is not for the faint of hearts, but we love it!

The first cocktail 007 ordered in Casino Royale, back in 1953. Thanks for the post.
wouldnt that be a vesper martini? it doesnt take vermouth nor campari

A vesper
This, Manhattan, and pisco sour are my favorite drinks 😍
For me Pisco Sour is the king of Cocktails. Specially when made with 2 1/2oz. of Moscatel Mosto Verde Pisco. Hard to find it in Ecuador, but worth it.

Negroni is my favourite go to drink.
Great Cocktails mixing 🍹🌿💟

My favorite drink ever.
I love your pronunciation Bro I understand 97%you are saying
Cool 😊❤🖐
Amazing

If you switch aperol for campari you'll not get a negroni but something else..
Campari with Sprite is a smooth and refreshing drink.

Great
If your channel was as paid type I swear I will be subscribe to you.. You deserve it.. Keep it up please

It's my 2nd favourite drink

That explains why it tasted better when I put orange bitters in it.

Will have to try :)

It's probably that you have a very sensitive palate to sweetness! A blessing and a curse!
I'm afraid to spend 32 bucks on Campari and finding out I hate Negronis
In situations like that, try to find just those 50ml sample bottles of everything and see if you like it enough to buy the full bottles~
I reccomend to go find somewhere where you can try a Negroni to see if you like it (like a bar or a friend's house)
Hahahahahahaha...
Damn. Campari is 32 bucks in the US? I got it for less than 10 euros 😂
Order one at a bar then
9/10 for 1 error
LIT !!
can u use cognac on negroni?
Can you make this with whiskey instead of campari?

Can you drink it every day? Where can you buy those in store?
The reason a big ice cube melts less fast isn't because of its size but because it has less surface area than multiple smaller ones.
So because of its size!
@@shahinab4256 no, you could have a greater surface area on a smaller piece of ice and then that would melt faster.
@@ASKaPHYSICIST ok, but aren't bigger ice cubes usually have more surface area than smaller ones?
This is a French drink invented in North Africa by Count Pascal de Negroni part of the French Royalty
it's not a bad drink after a meal either...
Or between meals for that matter
❤
You can’t use dry vermouth?
It uses red vermouth
I had a Negroni tonight, two actually. As well as a a Gin martini, and something called a Millennial at my local watering hole. The Negroni was a bit too bitter for me.
You must have been a little buzzed after all that!
The ice was melting from the first cup so he added cold fresh ice to a fresh glass any bartender would know that
It's called Africanamericanoni
Lol
I subscribed to this channel because of this video. Love a good Negroni. But WTF happened to this channel since?!?
Has to be dry gin ?
You can play around with all sorts of gin! Plymouth style is great with Negronis! Or more botanical gins like Hendricks!
@@DrinkInDigital thanks

Too easy to make
I didn't get this, he stirs them in ice and then pours it into ice again. What is the point ?

Tom Macy I couldn't agree more with you! :)
How in the hell does something larger have less surface area?

Try a Negro-Ni
provate ad whisky, soda, & rock and roll ... @
Wait! No bitters?!??
Irs bitter already
“I like to use 1.5 ounces of gin”
*proceeds to pour in two full ounces*

I made this drink today and it was absolutely disgusting. I felt the exact recipe but it was just way too bitter for what I usually drink.
Try it with Aperol, slightly sweeter and less bitter, might be what you're looking for!
Use less Campari. That works best.
You're so handsome and nice to look at
I thought you're Justin Timberlake
LASCUGIPUREZZA DEL NEGRONI LASCIA IN BOCCA UNA FRESCEZZA E UN SAPORE INSPIEGABILE A PAROLE ASSAGIATELO.

sorry but the classic one is 1-1-1 so there is nothing classic about yours at all.
I hate this drink it gets me anxious
get spouts dude
That is a variation of a "camparinette" sr not a negroni

How so? This is the exact recipe for negroni that IBA or wikipedia states.
No. This is called misdirect. 😂

The closest we’ll get to saying the n-word
Tanqueray???? Boooooo!
Lmao Campari is so sugary, if you think that’s bitter then just stick to beer and call it a day.
