I was born in 1964 (not that that really has anything to do with anything), and I grew up with all the Godzilla movies and loved them all. the scariest one I ever saw at the theater was Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster (a.k.a. Hedora). In the mid 1980's I served in the Navy and visited Japan a few times, and of course, knowing the history between the U.S. and Japan since WWII. and considering the relationship America has had with Japan since then, I was always struck with the Godzilla movies; how Japan used Godzilla as a metaphor for Atomic/Nuclear weapons at the beginning, and how Godzilla eventually became an ally with Man as he fought against other Kaiju (especially Hedora; as a metaphor for pollution) in later movies. and since the first ever Godzilla movie, Americans not only love the movie(s), but also cheer for Japan's victory against any kaiju that attacks them. Only those geniuses at ToHo could think of the idea of using such a destructive force as atomic weapons, and turn it into a "monster" for them to deal with! And something else: this Godzilla's atomic breath was such an unexpected surprise! not just his breath melting whatever he uses it against, but CAUSING an atomic explosion with it himself! Fantastically done!
"And something else: this Godzilla's atomic breath was such an unexpected surprise! not just his breath melting whatever he uses it against, but CAUSING an atomic explosion with it himself!" That sequence made me shout "OH S#@T!!" in the theater.
Watched this in a theater packed with guys and when he told that darling girl that he wasn’t her father, every guy in there groaned so loud LOL. Like dude, YES THE HELL YOU ARE HER DADDY.
There have been about 40 Godzilla movies made so far, and TOHO, which manages the IP, has rules for all of them. 1. Godzilla does not prey. 2. Godzilla does not die. 3. Godzilla does not talk. All films, including Hollywood-produced Godzilla, adhere to these rules.
The black marks on noriko's neck in the ending were Godzilla cells or G-Cells. The director Yakashi Yamazaki confirmed it on a G-fest in osaka. It shows she might be connected to Godzilla in some way
17:23 When someone calling someone else a bitch for something they don't feel comfortable with or even fear, it's low. You can judge him all you want, but i respect people who knows to avoid things that they don't want for them.
I'm a citizen of Hiroshima Prefecture. In this movie, there are 30,000 victims of Godzilla's Atomic Breath, but I will explain the actual atomic bombing. The temperature at 8:15 a.m. on August 15, 1945 was less than 30 degrees Celsius, but it instantly rose to 3000 degrees due to the atomic bombing of the B29 bomber. The damage situation at that time has been revealed by a follow-up survey that can be said to be the continuing obsession of Hiroshima City. First of all, people within a radius of 1 km from the hypocenter instantly boiled blood in their bodies due to high temperatures, and blood vessels ruptured and died instantly. And people within 1 kilometer outside it were caught in a building that collapsed by the blast and became immobile and burned to death due to the fire. In addition, in the outer 1 kilometer range, people suffered for three days and three nights because they were exposed to the high-concentration radioactive rain that fell immediately after the atomic bomb. At this moment, about 90,000 citizens lost their lives. In addition, American prisoners of war who were imprisoned in Hiroshima City also followed the same fate.
"Godzilla Minus One" is akin to "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" in that it overshadows the original in many ways. In "G-1," the script is tightly focused on the theme of life, with a kamikaze pilot as its lead. It critiques the government at the time for forcing its military personnel to sacrifice themselves for their country. While the original reinforces the notion of self-sacrifice, "G-1" stands out by emphasizing the fight for life itself. In doing so, it also portrays Godzilla as having a will to survive, showcasing a monster that never truly dies.
I love the Godzilla Return on his Villain Arc, the horror and the tension 🥶 i love they back the concept of WW and the Poverty and the Darkness days of Japan. Btw i always loved your reaction guys ❤
5:33 Yes she was mad that he was alive, because he was a Kamikaze Pilot. If a Kamikaze Pilot survived it means they ran away or didn't fulfill their duty and in Japanese culture that is a dishonorable act seen as cowardice. In this Era of Japan, Bushido and Honor were very important, not that they aren't important today but the significance is lessened. We Japanese are very dutiful and said duty is Duty to Family then to Country and Then to Self in that order...... Ehhhhh.....in Japanese is like saying 'Whaaaat?!' or 'Huh???' sop translation wasn't exactly right or wrong..... The Exchange rate in 1946 was 360 yen to 1 USD so it was actually $8.30 39:30 Deep Sea Creatures need to descend slowly to equalize their inner pressure against the pressure of the water, even Whales contend with this......sinking faster than you can equalize pressure is dangerous. For example if a Submarine submerges faster than it can equalize the internal pressure it will be crushed like an aluminum can......
The music that you liked during the final fight with Godzilla (after the heat ray) is from the original 1954 original Godzilla written by Akira Ifukube. This particular score has become the unoffical theme of the Godzilla franchise and has been used in dozens of Godzilla movies. It's like the musical calling card of Godzilla like the Indiana Jones or James Bond theme. For 1954, it holds up remarkably well and truly sounds epic.
Watched the movie today finally. It was interesting to see that Godzilla when he was small looked around the ground, searching, and even attacked those people on the ground and "actively" trampled them. But when he was huge, he didn't even look down when walking through the city and buildings, probably not even noticing those tiny ant-like humans being trampled by his feet. There, he didn't even bother, seemed like he was a god lol. Such a contrast to his first appearance.
On Bikini Atoll: It's the site where the US tested 24 nuclear weapons between 1946 and 1958. When you take into account Godzilla being representative of nuclear devastation, this is why he's shown "awakening" during that scene.
It was so worth seeing this movie in theaters! It was such a surreal experience ❤ definitely one of if not the best Godzilla movie I have ever seen in my life! This movie a so deserved the Oscar!! My first watch at the cinema I missed the neck so had to go back and watch it a second time , still cried the second time. I think I read somewhere that The island Godzilla already had the G Cells so the 20mm gun wouldn't have killed him, that's how Godzilla survived the Bikini Nuclear bomb test which then mutated him to his final form . Love the very end after the credits finished when you just hear the foot steps and the final Godzilla Roar.
The Japanese studio Toho had a rights deal with Warner Bros not to release their film in the U.S. while their run of Godzilla X Kong’s is in theaters. That’s why it wasn’t available here.
While it could be that the mark on Nori's neck is some kind of sci-fi thing, people with acute radiation sickness can easily have subdermal bleeding that causes bruises like that. That does seem to be moving exceptionally fast though.
@@RadGearsCreationsdepends on if they want to do a sequel I guess taking inspiration in a way from a certain G cell based kaiju but probably slim to non of a chance since they decided to let Godzilla regenerate he could still be the looming threat for the next one but stronger.

I really love the setting, a walking disaster like Godzilla attacks Japan at their weakest point is actually a brilliant idea. Koichi's post war trauma alone must've been awful to deal with.
I see too. Even without the Kamikaze Attack, Godzilla would have disintegrated with the destructive power of his own Atomic Ray. Wadatsumi was successful.
@@gmrn925wait doesn't that mean Shikishima inadvertently saved Godzilla because now there's enough of his body left for him to regenerate back to life. Also it's interesting how Godzilla thinks like an ideal kamikaze pilot
@@downhill18 Excellent. You may indeed be right. If you had fired the atomic ray, it is possible that it would have shattered and not been able to regenerate.
Yamazaki (the director) said he's not gonna make a sequel to this movie, BUT he would be sad if someone else is chosen by Toho to works on the sequel, and thus he would be happy making one, the other reason is bcs there will be 2 solo Godzilla movie (Shin and Minus One) back to back, so he wants to change that, and as for the sequel Yamazaki want it to be Godzilla vs another Kaiju GODZILLA MINUS TWO BABY LETS GOOO
I guess these havent watched old godzilla movies but the song at the end of the final battle is the original theme song for godzilla since back in 1954
I wasn't expecting Noriko to have survived. If the impact of hitting the ground after that shockwave from the Atomic Breath didn't kill her, the radiation surely would have. It was a very pleasant surprise that she was still alive, don't get me wrong.
Just think: That was one chunk of Godzilla healing at the end and he broke into multiple parts. What if all the other chunks are regenerating too? Either into other Godzilla or maybe thats how the future kaiju will appear.
You guys basically guessed it. She survived, like others, because she's infected with G-cells. It's been alluded to that that would be the driving force if a direct sequel is made. The actress said that she'd likely become one of the villians/monsters, and that she'd enjoy the opportunity. They'll probably give Yamazaki the director's chair again (what possible reason would they have not to?), but I don't believe it'll be a sequel. Just another timeline, this time more of a straight forward monster vs monster. But that's my bet based off of his vague "what ifs..."
The fact that this movie got an Oscar for visual effects as well deserved, but I'm kind of disappointed that the acting wasn't given an Oscar nomination, oh well. Godzilla regeneration is legendary throughout the entire universe of Godzilla and other Toho monsters, So much so that death doesn't seem to stop him.... in a way The cells on the neck, the Director had mentioned that it was Godzilla's cells… Don't quote me on it. I might be wrong. The information could change, but that's what I've been able to look up. The music composition throughout the entire movie was spectacular, including Godzilla Theme Godzilla's path of destruction always represents the wrath of the earth, as well as him claiming territory 31:53 yeah going in between the legs, sometimes doesn't work, especially if the tail is moving back-and-forth and he may just suddenly move because you don't know what could happen. Ask for the side that would be smart unless whatever damage she causes goes to the side as well. Remember, Godzilla is the God of destruction wherever his path goes destruction follows, including his tail, starts whipping everywhere and hitting buildings just out of spite 33:10 gentlemen may I introduced you Godzilla's atomic breath due to the fact that he is a walking breathing nuclear reactor, he can create weapons based off of that power inside of him… Although this version of the atomic breath is a little bit more unstable. 53:59 the music in the scene was actually the original theme for Godzilla in 1954 and it's persisted ever since you can even hear it in the monster verse movie Godzilla King of the monsters. This song was first composed by Akira Ifukube.... I think has either passed away or still. I don't know yet.

Finally..after finish watching Shin Godzilla reaction,I was waiting for this one....Minus One did amazing job for making their Godzilla show us whose the boss
Godzilla was originally a dinosaur that lived in the deep sea about 140 million years ago. Repeated hydrogen bomb tests awoke him from his slumber, and he became a giant monster with the energy of hydrogen bombs harbored throughout his body, attacking humankind. That blue ray is radioactive energy. The power of the huge explosion and black rain depicted in the movie is the same as that of the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. In reality, too, it burned and crushed buildings and people in an instant, destroying everything. Humanity must never forget the horror of war and nuclear bombs. I believe that human life should be given the highest priority.
When deep sea fishes rise rapidly up to the surface, their inner organs get out of their mouths and inflate like a balloon. “EEEEEEh~?” this noise means 'What?', light expression with surprise +suspicion +blame mixed. Japanese fishermen use this kind of small wooden fishing boat, they were also used making patrol lines at WW2 after Doolittle Tokyo Raid.
Have you seen the movie "Eternal 0" directed by Takashi Yamazaki? It is not a monster movie, but it seems to be a prequel to "GODZILLA Minus One". If you watch "Eternal 0", you will enjoy the human drama of "GODZILLA Minus One" even more.
Such a great Godzilla movie and it's an award winner as well. Takashi yamazaki killed it. Also fun fact his two favorite movies that inspire this movie is the original Gojira 1954 movie and GMK giant monster's all out attack 2001. Both movies you should watch

"And something else: this Godzilla's atomic breath was such an unexpected surprise! not just his breath melting whatever he uses it against, but CAUSING an atomic explosion with it himself!"
That sequence made me shout "OH S#@T!!" in the theater.
1 true
2 only apply to Hollywood Godzilla. He died many time in the hands of TOHO
3 Showa Godzilla he talk and he talk alot in monster language I mean
Why do I feels like rule 1 and 2 was made in direct response to Godzilla 1998?
This is the best Godzilla film ever made. Great reaction! 👍🏿
The black marks on noriko's neck in the ending were Godzilla cells or G-Cells. The director Yakashi Yamazaki confirmed it on a G-fest in osaka. It shows she might be connected to Godzilla in some way
someone let them know its godzilla's soundtrack lol
It's not official though

The Exchange rate in 1946 was 360 yen to 1 USD so it was actually $8.30
39:30 Deep Sea Creatures need to descend slowly to equalize their inner pressure against the pressure of the water, even Whales contend with this......sinking faster than you can equalize pressure is dangerous.
That's a classic theme, but it's not the actual 1954 version
@@Goatix1954
True but it's the same theme.
@@davidmeir9348Calling it the 1954 is not quite right
It's a remix of Godzilla vs Destoroyah theme
Which combined 54 with Kong Vs Godzilla theme
Godzilla is the scariest he’s ever been and the characters are so incredible! The action is intense and amazing! I love your reaction so much! Thank you for watching this masterpiece!!✨♥️😊
As a Godzilla fan, you can’t ask for more.
14:34
Godzillasaurus still had the regen, so they basically would have done nothing long term
Same thing with shin Godzilla, he'd just regrow any damage done
My first watch at the cinema I missed the neck so had to go back and watch it a second time , still cried the second time.
I think I read somewhere that The island Godzilla already had the G Cells so the 20mm gun wouldn't have killed him, that's how Godzilla survived the Bikini Nuclear bomb test which then mutated him to his final form . Love the very end after the credits finished when you just hear the foot steps and the final Godzilla Roar.
Alternate title: "Godzilla... who hurt you?" 🤣🤣🤣
"I wish kids were only around part time"
It's called being an uncle and it's awesome 😂
The Japanese studio Toho had a rights deal with Warner Bros not to release their film in the U.S. while their run of Godzilla X Kong’s is in theaters. That’s why it wasn’t available here.
Hey! in case you had any questions. Godzilla Minus One is 51m tall, Shin Godzilla 118 and Monsterverse’s Godzilla 120m.
While it could be that the mark on Nori's neck is some kind of sci-fi thing, people with acute radiation sickness can easily have subdermal bleeding that causes bruises like that. That does seem to be moving exceptionally fast though.
あれはゴジラ細胞ですよ

Noriko did not survive, she was revived by Godzilla's cells.
Is she going to turn into anything? Or is she going to be just the way she is?
Huh? How?
@@RadGearsCreationsdepends on if they want to do a sequel I guess taking inspiration in a way from a certain G cell based kaiju but probably slim to non of a chance since they decided to let Godzilla regenerate he could still be the looming threat for the next one but stronger.
@@RadGearsCreations if we follow traditional Godzilla lore, she will be a nexus for the creation of Biollante and/or Space Godzilla, but there's really no telling. We could get a completely new G-Cell Kaiju out of it
Godzilla lore: 1. On Odo island that isn't Godzilla yet. That is Godzillasaurus the dinosaurus that survived the extinction until it got mutated by radioactive from nuclear bomb
2. At the end the black mark on Noriko's neck confirm to be a G-cells a mutated cells from Godzilla it can be evolve to become other monster such as Biollante(A plant Kaiju) and Space Godzilla
I really love the setting, a walking disaster like Godzilla attacks Japan at their weakest point is actually a brilliant idea. Koichi's post war trauma alone must've been awful to deal with.
lets not forget this won an Oscar for special effects
Fun fact: This last Atomic Breath could have killed even Godzilla himself, but he wanted to take as many humans with him as he hates humans.
@@downhill18 he will still regenerate i think
@@downhill18
Excellent.
You may indeed be right.
If you had fired the atomic ray, it is possible that it would have shattered and not been able to regenerate.
Yamazaki (the director) said he's not gonna make a sequel to this movie, BUT he would be sad if someone else is chosen by Toho to works on the sequel, and thus he would be happy making one, the other reason is bcs there will be 2 solo Godzilla movie (Shin and Minus One) back to back, so he wants to change that, and as for the sequel Yamazaki want it to be Godzilla vs another Kaiju
GODZILLA MINUS TWO BABY LETS GOOO
Cant wait this movie whas too good
Would absolutely love to see Biollante done up in modern CGI, and the G-Cells heavily imply thats the direction we are heading
I guess these havent watched old godzilla movies but the song at the end of the final battle is the original theme song for godzilla since back in 1954
It's Godzilla vs Destoroyah ending theme
I wasn't expecting Noriko to have survived. If the impact of hitting the ground after that shockwave from the Atomic Breath didn't kill her, the radiation surely would have. It was a very pleasant surprise that she was still alive, don't get me wrong.
definitely the best godzilla movie
Not the best but def the top 4
Just think: That was one chunk of Godzilla healing at the end and he broke into multiple parts. What if all the other chunks are regenerating too? Either into other Godzilla or maybe thats how the future kaiju will appear.
This Godzilla ain't one of the strongest, but he's one of the tuffest, that atomic breath scene was just perfection
Actually drowning Godzilla is nice thing to do.. ocean compression is huge when u make it quickly.
She becomes Biollante maybe?
@@vesbarrow I honestly don't believe we'll ever see Biollante in another film. Atleast not a Toho one.
Godzilla held nothing back, he was a beast in every scene he was in.
This is the best godzilla movie imo.

Definitely in the top 3 at least.
Not the best, but Top 4 for sure
@@AnAmericanMusician what is better than minus one?
@@darysweatshin Godzilla, legendary Godzilla, or old school Godzilla. A lot of good options that is better than minus one.
Shinden was a real Japanese made plane. That prototype was built in June of 1945.
The music score is from Original Godzilla 1959 Balck and White version
The fact that this movie got an Oscar for visual effects as well deserved, but I'm kind of disappointed that the acting wasn't given an Oscar nomination, oh well.
Godzilla regeneration is legendary throughout the entire universe of Godzilla and other Toho monsters, So much so that death doesn't seem to stop him.... in a way
The cells on the neck, the Director had mentioned that it was Godzilla's cells… Don't quote me on it. I might be wrong. The information could change, but that's what I've been able to look up.
The music composition throughout the entire movie was spectacular, including Godzilla Theme
Godzilla's path of destruction always represents the wrath of the earth, as well as him claiming territory
31:53 yeah going in between the legs, sometimes doesn't work, especially if the tail is moving back-and-forth and he may just suddenly move because you don't know what could happen. Ask for the side that would be smart unless whatever damage she causes goes to the side as well.
Remember, Godzilla is the God of destruction wherever his path goes destruction follows, including his tail, starts whipping everywhere and hitting buildings just out of spite
33:10 gentlemen may I introduced you Godzilla's atomic breath due to the fact that he is a walking breathing nuclear reactor, he can create weapons based off of that power inside of him… Although this version of the atomic breath is a little bit more unstable.
53:59 the music in the scene was actually the original theme for Godzilla in 1954 and it's persisted ever since you can even hear it in the monster verse movie Godzilla King of the monsters. This song was first composed by Akira Ifukube.... I think has either passed away or still. I don't know yet.
I love how the Writers on Japanese Godzilla Films named the Plans on how take Godzilla down, came from their Japanese mythology .

Finally..after finish watching Shin Godzilla reaction,I was waiting for this one....Minus One did amazing job for making their Godzilla show us whose the boss
Yessss, I was waiting for this!!!
Music is from original Godzilla
Best Godzilla film of all time by far , one of the best films of all time . They only spent 10-12 million on it
Minus One Godzilla is 50.1 meters tall and Monsterverse Godzilla is 120 meters tall.
Godzilla Earth is 300 meters tall.
It's not a prequel? I mean it could work as one but that would just be silly to connect both movies. It's simply a dramatic war movie.
You should watch Godzilla GMK, It was a big inspiration for this Godzilla, It's a standalone movie, only being a sequel to the 1954 movie
Such a great Godzilla movie and it's an award winner as well. Takashi yamazaki killed it. Also fun fact his two favorite movies that inspire this movie is the original Gojira 1954 movie and GMK giant monster's all out attack 2001. Both movies you should watch
