  • Here I describe to how I was able to remove the intake manifold on my 2nd generation Honda CR-V when replacing the starter. No need to take the front member apart.

Thank you so much for this video. This does work. And you can leave the throttle body attached as well. It's still a pain in the butt, but much less so than dis-assembling the entire front of the car.

I think it is easier at later stage, by NOT totally taking out throttle body and its connecting coolant small hoses. Saying that, it would need to take out the front top radiator cosmetic cover and loosen the "T" bar (a few plastic snap- and Honda magic size 10 bolts) , giving more room to work your way out for the IM to being removed out from top front, without "totally" detaching Throttle body.

Good grief: was that thing left on the beach for 10 years. I've never seen so much corrosion under a hood. Minnesota?

I just disconnected a couple of tiny hoses below the throttle body. Then rotated manifold to the right, so it tilted up. You also have to remove a few electrical connnectors and remove bolts to that metal bar behind the radiator... then pull that bar forward.

Taking off that front main frame brace isn't that terrible. It's 9 bolts. Surprisingly many but they're all 10mm. And a couple of cable clips.

What i did was remove the air hose that goes from the throttle body to the air filter, then i disconnected the electrical connectors, removed small hoses, removed the throttle body, and then the intake manifold. It really is not that hard, on some models you may have to remove the 2 screws that hold the radiator in place just so that it can tilt forward for more room.

Does anybody know the name of the hose that has the socket/bolt in it? Mine is leaking and I need to replace it but don’t know the name of it. I believe it connects to the throttle body

I'm about to try same myself. Any tips to shorten the hour and a half? Or do you have to pay your dues no matter what the first time?

Is that resting manifold up against the positive terminal of the battery? Not a good idea.
