- I recently bought a Hydrangea on special from the supermarket that was on its deathbed, I knew I could bring it back to life very easily, so let me show you how I did it!

Who else buys clearance plants because all u need is to take care of them and boom there beautiful again
It's my new addiction. It's so much more rewarding too when you see the life coming back.
Johnathan Flores - I do!
I do it all the time!! I go for one thing in the store next thing you know...+3 plants😂😂IDC I love it
Rtuo
I feel it's my duty to rescue them when they're like that it really pisses me off when I go to Walmart and see them all dying I literally want to get the hose and give them all water Walmart has the worst Nursery ever they just kill off those poor Plant
I literally feel bad when I walk by the sale cart with all the dying and sick looking plants. Like I'm in a shelter and I wanna rescue them all!
Do it! Even if you can't keep them plants make great gifts.
So what are you waiting for RESCUE them and brighten your day on the cheap! If not you, who?👍🏻 my gardens full of rescues!
I am notorious for buying the dying discount plants. I love giving them new life, it's very satisfying! Thanks for showing others how to bring green back to life.
I do too
😂😂😂💕💕💕me too - I now promise to buy One Sick Plant 💐
I love going through clearance at the local Walmart! I have rescued so many plants and they are still happy and growing!!
Bayla Schauer I’ve done the same. I always buy the pathetic looking plants. People think I’m crazy. 🤷🏼♀️
How you bring them back to life
@@chefmum4096 I just plant them as soon as I can, making sure they are not root bound and fertilizing them well. I have been lucky!
I'll have to do that!
I rescue the dying flowers and always manage to kill them I do not know why :(((
It infuriates me to see neglected and dying plants in stores, it really does
Took a walk through a lady's absolutely beautiful garden. Every one of her plants and flowers were reduced "brought back to life" purchases. Amazing!
That is what I have learned to do. Primarily because I'm frugal ! LOL
Plant rescue is fun, but I just do not understand why stores do not take better care of their stock. They should not carry plants at all if they are going to just let them sit and die. What a waste of living things.
Former garden associate at two of the largest home improvement stores in the US. Stores carry them because corporate dictates they do.
@@rockspoon6528 Corporate dictates they carry them, but that doesn't explain the poor management at stores that allow their stock to die. That is a $$$ loss for corporate.
@@bkrbkrl you don't understand, most of that stock is not owned by the nursery. It's owned by the actual growers, so the store doesn't really lose anything directly, it's all indirect, as the grower will raise its prices if stores keep killing stock. The growers also audit the store and fine or ban them if conditions are egregious. It's a horribly wasteful system and it made me furious, just telling you how it is.
it sucks that Bunnings (australia) dont reduce plants ...
right in the middle of summer when its desperately late to do anything with basil or tomato seedlings they are charging full price
They take healthy plants by the carts and toss in garbage if not sold. I've seen it and of course they wouldnt even discount.
Thank you for saving this plant 🙏🌱🌿
🌱
They don't care because after they have killed or almost killed these plants they send them back to the farms where they bought them for another.
I do the exact opposite. I purchase a beautiful plant and somehow after watering, fertilizing, using neem oil solution and a full spectrum uv light on them I can still manage to ruin them.
You might be over loving it.
^i agree. You’re trying too hard. Try leaving it by a window and give it a good watering when the soil feels dry to the touch when you stick a finger in. Its simple. Don’t over do it. Over watering prevents the plant from getting oxygen.
@@agoel6223 and you were both exactly right. A month later the diffenbachia is doing great...once I took your advice and stopped obsessing. A sunny window and watering only when it's dry and it's thriving. Thanks!
Same, Phins, same! My friends and family call me "The Black Thumb."
I have the dubious honour of killing anything and everything plant wise.
Recently visited a friend I Western Sydney and saw 3 plants ( herbs ) for $10. Two days later and they are absolutely - and irrefutably dead!
I've tried reviving them.but I think I have drowned them...whoops.
I commiserate with you
It would be a good project for kids, giving them a chance to have their own plants.
and perhaps they may enjoy gardening as a great hobby later on.. Thanks for sharing !!!
Kids caring
GREAT IDEA !!!
Yeah it's a good idea👍
Good morning! I had watched this video of yours a little while back and love it. It was inspiring. Went to Wal-Mart yesterday. Wasn't expecting anything (early in the season) and there they were... EIGHT half-dead hydrangea plants with about two small hydrangea in each little decorative box. They were obviously meant for folks to buy them for Mother's Day gifts. About 10.00 a piece. Half the blooms were brown, drooping leaves and blooms. Told the manager he wouldn't be able to sell these at full price like this. I got them 10% off!!! Brought them home, gave them all a trim and watered them well. By this morning... they had perked right up! So, planting them today or tomorrow in a flower bed I wasn't going to work until next year. lol This was a gold mine. 8 young hydrangea plants neglected and left for dead and will fill that flower bed with color very soon! :)
OMG, Greg, YOU ARE THE ONE that I`ve been looking for! I have bought a house with a patio and I love flowers, but I don`t know the FIRST THING about how to keep them alive. I have lost a lot of money due to that ignorance. I`ve been googling for years, but your video is EXACTLY what I prayed for. A one-step how to not let the hydrangea that I got from my son at Mother`s Day die before I got to plant it in the soil. In just 2 days, although I watered it, it started to look exactly like the plant you showed! It had lost all its color, the leaves dried out, and I thought it was hopeless. But you gave me hope. I am so grateful! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, from Freedom, PA, USA!
Thank you! Got one for Valentine's Day from my son and it's already shriveling up. I don't know how to take care of plants or even this Kalanchoe but I don't want it to die😊
Omg 😱 that’s crazy, poor thing was so thirsty. Came back beautifully! I can’t believe it changed that much over night
The store is too greedy. Should have give the plant for free for the condition.
JJ J in our country the price is only 0.18 euro for this condition. I always buting orchids for 0.12-0.18 euro
It’s not greed they just want to get some money back that they spent on it before taking a complete loss and since there are ppl that buy them at that stage/price it works for both parties
@@ElinWinblad Not necessarily. More often than not they just throw them out.
@@ElinWinblad I've worked in a supermarket, those dying, or dead plant are just return to the vendors and get a credit. It's just sad that most employees just let the plant die for it's not their job to water it. It will take a responsible manager or employee to take care of those plants.
Truth Hurts depends on store. Walmart for example has set schedule for watering but doesn’t always get done. But in the end it’s just plants dying adding to nature’s circle of life.
I love going to the clearance rack at plant stores or big box stores and rescuing plants !and I have rescued alot of them also
wao not again god is really, wonderful my two leg's was afflected by enimes's I couldn't work before now God used a spiritual herbalist Dr idialu to save my life finally

Absolutely love rescuing plants ! Who can pass up a half dead plant ? NOT ME !!!
Greg, I missed you! I love that I'm not the only one that wants to rescue sad clearance plants. 😘
I love a bargain and saving lives!
I only buy the sad clearance ones and resurrect them. 🙋♀️
Do you have advice on caring for Prayer Plant that has black leaves . It was thriving & now it has more black leaves then green , it does have new life starting, but still black leaves . Hope to get advice to save it. Thanks
@@kadesmom100 lol. This is like my new addiction. Going to Lowe's whenever I can and checking out the clearance racks. I'd rather spend a couple bucks on a plant I can try and save then spending a lot of money on a plant I could potentially kill.
Just wow. Thanx for giving second life to this plant xx
I grabbed two bushes out of the nursery garden dumpster yesterday (I asked). I gave them water when I got home right in the grocery bags they were still in, and today, I think I can plant them! Potentillas, I think. Talk about luck! Of course, I also bought a bunch of stuff I probably didn’t need as well❣️
I just brought some “throw away” hydrangeas from the grocery store. They were free and the cashier thought I was crazy. Let’s see what some TLC can do. I’ve revived other plants before. First time for hydrangeas
Clearance plants are my fav!
Doing a great job sir
On plants that dry, I normally hold the entire rootball under water in a bucket of water until the air bubbles stop
When the soil gets that dry it gets hydrophobic. I would submerge it too.
You are talking about plants aren't you?
Absolutely!!!
I do that as well.
Its like giving it an energy drink.
Greg the Plant Rescuer! Thank You So Much for Caring & Sharing! Love your informative video that under 5 minutes! Stay Safe & Stay Humble! 🕯🌷🕊🌍♥️
Thank you Greg!!! This video saved ALL of my houseplants ! You are awesome. Love your videos!
Tip
Have a bucket full of water and put the plant in the bucket till it sinks, that means it's fully soaked and watered
My mother in law taught me this too! She told me it's like doing a CPR on the plant.
I brought 2/3 avocado trees back to lives(1 didn't make it though) with this method.
I found a lowly pothos plant in Walmart in the candy aisle. That was 13 years ago. It's still alive and growing. I have rooted many a cutting from it and given them as gifts.
That plant is so grateful for your love!!!
Really great video- I love the idea of rescuing these plants- never thought to buy them.
Thanks for this informative and inspiring video.
Lowe’s Home improvement always has a bunch of dying plants at a discount. Good place to snag from and restore health!
Yep. I wet two weeks ago and purchased plants in the clearance rack for 90%off!!! Yes, 90%off!!!
Last year many could be had for $1, I had an amazing annual garden for less than $50, neighbors even came by and noted how lovely it looked. This year nothing is available for the $1 range. Lowe's had me as a customer because of it, I bought what I needed there, now I don't stop there anymore. Funny how having damaged, almost dead, flowers for $1 got them a loyal customer. I'm back with Menards.
Enjoy your day
Theres a guy in our neighborhood who goes to our local nursery
every Saturday & looks through their trash & rescues all the
plants he finds. He always asks the manager if he can have
them and of course she happy to get rid of them. The guy says
these dead & dying plants are a challenge & he hasnt lost one yet.
!
I do the same here in UK. All of my plants at home and in the garden are the rescue plants. I feed them all tomato plant food, they grow beautifully. Well done, you did I great job there.
Wow! Who would've thought that watering a suffering plant would be the answer??!!
This is a beautiful video.
It is such a great relief to watch this. Thank you!
Wow!! Thanks for sharing !!👍 👍
Thanks for watching :)
A wonderful video, thanks for sharing with us!
My jaw literally dropped to the floor. Wow that was amazing. I subscribed right away and clicked on the bell to see all your future posts. Wow. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I wish you were my neighbor.
I'd be over for dinner every other night :P
gregthegardener ain’t nothing wrong with that lol
Excellent advice. Thank you so much 😃
Also a prune back in Autumn and this plant can go on forever ..... as well as propagate many more plants.
I love your videos, thanks.
Thankyou for saving this plant, I’ve worked in a big supermarket like that before in the garden centre. Half the employees could care less about watering the plants and reviving them. It saves money too, I don’t understand. Their so quick to throw plants out when all they need is water and sun.
You have a nice , soothing voice. Thank you plant whisperer.. 😘💐
beautiful..thanks 4 sharing
Hell, You are a kind person not only loveable to plants. Plants can't talk but they have life, they harmonize with human and nature. Thanks for sharing. I am watching from Canada 🇨🇦 Zz
Thank's Gerg for the tip !
You are a Prince to nature mate. Fair play
Hi Greg, my fiancé is currently trying to revive a plant I got her for Valentine’s Day after watching your video.. I appreciate the guidance! Fingers crossed she’s gonna start getting inspired by your cooking channel 👍🏻🍻
What a great video! Thank you so much. I learned something today.
I do it very often ... I love giving life to dying plants .. can't agree more with you .. thank you be blessed
Thanks for helping plants and good info, thanks again,.💐
This is my first time enjoying your UA-cam channel. Great work! I’m looking forward to more great content from you. Thank you so much!
Anmmazing!!! Thank you for the tip! 🌻🤸♀️
How awesome & reassuring!
That was magical! Thank you.
😍😍😍 thanks for sharing have a blessed day
This is really an awesome idea and thanks a lot for sharing. My hydrangea which I thought is almost dead is back to life now and is blooming also.... 🙌 thanks a ton!!
Thank you for this great advice to revive the plants .👍⚘
Hello Greg. I've done this before and it almost always works. Good way to save some money. Great tip. Ozarks, Missouri.
Thanks Condee
Me too!!! Love Walmart & Lowe's in my little town of Ozark MO. This has won me the title the plant whisperer🤣😊 It also allowed me to enjoy plants I would not typically buy.
I just bought a pot of Hydrangeas for my aunts from a mall and they looked wilted. Kinda looked like this in the video, and I only soaked it in water only this morning and good thing there's this video. Thank you!
Nice video, congratulations, now I khow how to bring back a sad plant to life thanks to you.
This simple step really works. Thank you so much sir for saving my plant's life 😍😍😍😍😍
Removing it from yhe pot and loosening the roots would have helped. They sre probably very tight in there.
Also a larger pot and new soil.
Hi! ☺ That was a Beautiful video. I always try to rescue plants when I see them on their death bed like the hydrangea that you bought. Thank you for sharing & saving!! ☺☺😎😎
Hi I do. Especially because it's reduced in price. I rescued a few orchids. Very well and alive now. Love flower plants. Don't have much of a garden, so I keep them in pots. I also keep plant cutting in water till shoots roots like gardenia. I used rooting powder and planted bougainvillea. Little plant with beautiful flowers.
Gives much pleasure.
Take care love from sunny South Africa.
so great to see a neglected plant come back, I could almost hear it thanking you.
Omg tysm! I can finally rescue those poor dying plants that get barely any care!
Thank you for the gift
Wow... So nice to see the plant come back to life 😍
Wow!!! What a caring hands! You're a green thumb!😎😊
I buy these plants frequently as all most of them need is water!! They perk right up!!
Very Simple. I am inspired to go water my plants now!
Simple as that, flipping brilliant, thank you! 👍
hi, Greg
WELL DONE 👍
if you save one - you save the world 🌏
and this flower is saying:
"THANK YOU !!!"
with her revival & blossoms 🌺
how beautiful this is 💗
Greetings from Germany 🙋♀️

I would definitely repot it. Plants are like people. ..Give them enough space and they'll grow.
What a lovely guy ☺️
This means work! Thank you.
I buy plants like this all the time, and my husband says “ I will buy you any of these pretty plants....why are you buying the dead ones?”
Then he comments on how beautiful my flowering plants are a few days later! Good to see I am not the only one who hates paying $16.00 for a flowing plant!
Thanks for the information
Thank you..SO..much...hydrangeas are my favorite!!
You saved her!! 🥰
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! Hello from Pennsylvania
This is informative, sir! Sending love from the US!!
This video gave me hope 🌻
You are a life saver.. Godbless👍
Gregg the Gardener WOW !!!! This is soooo amazing !!! Thank you for sharing this amazing tip ! Now I will go to the discount shelves at Lowes ...Lol and bring them back to life !
Some of my most treasured plants are rescues! Same with rescue animals...
I go dumpster diving at my local grocery and find so many gems!!
Wow...lovely 😍
Give the plant water! Pure genius, Thanks
Thank you so much 💝
Thank you for the info.
G'day mate from O’ahu. Just watched your video and tried it out on my dying hibiscuses. I had all but given up on them until I saw this. We shall see how they are in the morning. Mahalo!
I did the same thing with some plants that i got at walmart in clearance they were death but I got home and soak them in water and a little bit of epson salt the next day they were alive again 😃
Nice job saving this plant.
I love doing this❣️❣️🌱🌱
Awesome, Thanks 😊
Very awesome. Nice trick
That's pretty interesting,, now I know what to do the next time I visit a plant shop
OMG!!! This is amazing!
