- Ever wondered just which game holds the record for the most points in an Australian first-grade Rugby League match? The tally is 102 points from a crazy game between the Newcastle Knights and the Canberra Raiders back in Round 2, 2006. Newcastle won the match 70-32. Watch every try from that famous match in Vossy's last episode for the week.

Joeys kick in the last try is pure accuracy and class, he had a look to see the raiders winger far in field and fullback no where to be seen, puts up a screw back bomb, knowing the bounce would bounce back in and away from the dead ball line and favouring the hands of George Carmont to score... Joey was always on a another level then the elites!!!
It was luck, he kicked it too far and got a lucky bounce.
Andrew Winch I would agree with you if this was a one off kind of kick... buts it’s not....Joey Johns has consistently done these kinds of kicks many of times with Newcastle, NSW and Australia... it definitely was not a fluke, his pinpoint accuracy, his power delivery, his knowledge of where and how to kick the ball, it’s a science he has down to a tee... he’s mastered the craft, part of why he’s an rugby league immortal... very few would be in this class...
Fluke
@@Pafuki25 mate.... definitely not.....
@@muliparu 100% this, Joeys trademark was a bounce back kick... he did these countless times. Its the same as the chip and chase he would do where it would bounce and spin back into his arms. Joey wasnt just a good player. He was a rugby league wizard
Has to be the record for missed tackles as well
True
that's generally what happens when 102 pts are scored
Yes, that's exactly how it works
Imagine joeys Supercoach score in this game 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
They calculated it once
@@damonaskie566 what was it?
@@KooriAU 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 points
It was 267
Jesse Hudson cheers bro 🤙🏽 that’s epic lol imagine if he was your captain 😂
No surprise that Andrew Johns was playing in that game, he was the ultimate competitor and reshaped the game as we knew it.
2006 was Andrew John's last full NRL season, I believe. Just so wish he could have played until retired by his own terms.
i counted 342 miss tackles, and this is just the highlights lmao
I only had 339...
@Xander Hyslop were you not?
@xander the tub imagine not
I had 340
I only got 53 lol
In the age of smith n Thurston I swear people just weren’t watching or somehow forget the next level johns was on. It’s like every pass he threw ended up as a like break or try.
Or they weren't born yet
Yep Johns is top 3 imo
I was at that game. Never seen the raiders get beat so bad without at all feeling like leaving early. John's was outstanding that day.
Defence wasn't high on the agenda that afternoon go knights
Andrew Johns ability to read the game is incredible.
That's why he's an immortal
NO! that's what MDMA ecstasy does.
He admitted he was almost always on it.
Immortally a cheat
Flow Wolf you’re an idiot mate
Flow Wolf You’re an immortal flop
@@flowwolf851 No proof genius !
This is why Joey will always be the greatest footy player of all time. Nobody was ever on his level what a freak. 8th immortal for a reason 🐐
He was named an immortal because NSW couldn't win an origin he's not even half of jt hahaha
Hah
Carl Hodgkinson NSW won the majority of origins when he was in the team though
@@carlhodgkinson2081 so he was named immortal because he came from a state that’s less superior than another? You are so dumb it’s not even funny
@@carlhodgkinson2081 dumbest comment ever
Raiders lost 56-20 to Roosters the week after but somehow made the finals. Back then under Matt Elliott their home record really helped them to over achieve but they weren’t real contenders.
That was Joey’s last full season in the NRL and a decent season for the Knights, making Week 2 of the semis. It’s just a pity they relied on him too much.
Need more of these
I haven't seen the defense stand round doing nothing this much since I last played Rugby League Live 3.
Somebody tackle somebody
And maybe the record for most unexciting commentary
Johns the maestro one of the greatest ever...the knights wouldn't win without AJ magic. 👍👍👍👍👍🤜🤛😉😉
Me and my older brother that very day were at WIN Stadium watching the dragons play the Panthers and we heard the Around The Grounds scores and was like WTF!?
6 try assists 2 try's and involved in a few others the true 🐐
Lucky they had electronic scoreboards by then.
Imagine updating scores the old fashioned way.
wonder what the miss tackle counts were, or who made the most tackles in this game, looked like they were playing touch footy
Andrew Johns is the greatest rugby league player ever to lace up a pair of boots
Ali Torot no JT is
Baizer Squad no he’s not 😂
Zmart 30 Ye he is JT has 3 golden boots and Andrew Johns has 1 or 2 and nrl announced that JT was simply the bet rugby league player of all time even search it up
Baizer Squad Johns has 2 golden boots but they didn’t award golden boots from 91-98 and 95 & 96 were some of joeys best years internationally so he would’ve won another 1 or 2. It was a fan voted poll, Lockyer, slater & Cronk all say Johns is the best halfback.
Ali Torot I know Joey is
i enjoyed this.. thankyou fox
I remember watching this game,unbelievable
Even though the score was very high , the line running was awesome and support play too.
What a game Andrew John's what a player
Wait, so you're telling me that both kickers missed both their opening conversions?! They scored from almost right in front.
,slick pass n running match
Proud to say I was at this game.
Haha, I only clicked on this hoping not to see the Warriors on the wrong side of the ledger!
This man can sleep easy tonight.
It’s great to see points but this game was a joke haha..even joey looked bored of setting up tries
1:25 perfection.
How about St George defeating Canterbury-Bankstown 91-6 at Earl Park, Arncliffe in 1935. Biggest win and loss in NSWRL/NRL history.
Dean Sullivan that's only 97 points champ.
I doubt they'd have any footage of it either.
@@MrIntellijent to be fair, it was only 3 points for a try back in those days.
You're right though, doubtful there would be footage of it
No one cares about footy that happened before 2003
Jake Douglas You care enough to comment though.
Jake Douglas Well 2003 was a great year because the mighty Panthers won the comp... but I think footy was actually at it’s best in the early 90’s before the Super League War. Way less controversy and over analysing before we had video referees and the infamous ‘bunker’ too. The game was tougher too.
Hey Vossy!
Finally I found it! I was looking for this but I thought it was Raiders vs Panthers, lol. I was only 7. Miss those days. (2004-2010).
Sad to see such a great club just go downhill after this era with Johns Baderus etc. let’s see if they can bring a team like that back again. This is coming from a broncos supporter 😁
And that is why Joey Johns is the best player to ever play rugby league
Good defence!!!
Many players didn’t have contracts at the end of this season
Miss Andy, good caller. Ah never would of happened if Five mtrs was still around
Joey’s SuperCoach score in this game, 228. 😳
First pass reminds you how good johns was
Zillman two on debut👌
Still remember this game, what about most points in a half of footy remember Knights lead Cowboys 48-0 first half.
There's not even many good plays, it's just atrocious defence.
Apparently all you needed in 06 is an inside ball and you were home and hosed
@@AwkwardStepho I remember watching this game. It was in the first few rounds of the season so I remember it being extremely hot and both defences were cooked by the first quarter and they just strolled past each other
Fair enough but I certainly didn’t expect to see good defence with that score line to start with .
AwkwardStepho It’s not like this was a typical game from 2006. The hot conditions contributed to the poor defence. Also Joey was on fire early in ‘06 and the Knights were up there with the title contenders despite winning the spoon the year before... but like so many other seasons they could rarely win without him and they ended up getting thrashed by the Broncos in the semis. That Raiders team actually conceded 56 against the Roosters the week after as well yet somehow they improved and made the Top 8 that year.
Milton Thaiday was good, had an unlucky end in his short career
How many try assists did Joey get in this game? 🤯
'Yeah right;
12 more sleeps to kick off
Best of the best Warriors 2020 NRL( champions);
'Yeah right;
Andrew Johns
Agreed
@@cummo666 good man
2 teams that really wanted to test the old theory that the best form of defence is attack.
I think my bronx are going to break this record against the storm 102-2 to the storm 😭
That scoreline would not break the record..
@@petergraham5899 good pick up let me just edit it for you.... there you go.
I'd like to see the missed tackle count.
As a coach Id be filthy with my teams defensive effort, for both teams
back when I was in school, alot of the kids didn't like John's because he wasn't much of a ball runner. It is not a halfbacks job and they were probably just relaying what their jealous meathead parents were saying at home lol. Im sure they appreciate it alot more when they see him on highlight reels like this one. The smartness, creativity and skill of him was incredible. Always loved Johns, best halfback in the game ever. Cleary possibly will rival him for best halfback ever.
5 try assists, 2 tries, how many goals I'm not sure.. from Joey
11 from 12 according to RLP
Imagine the supercoach points in this game lol
Raiders fullback Zillman on debut. Would've been a nightmare.
Thought it was a Kings v Wildcats game
The score was higher than the tackle count, it was as if each player was covered in spiders..
*The highest point game was technically AUSTRALIA humiliating RUSSIA 110-6 if I remember correctly.*
Alan Tongue without the headgear...
This was a very sad day for all us raiders fans
They were playing Touch.
Me (knights) vs my little brother (raiders) at Rugby League Live 2
that's all good but how many would have been a try in todays game
That is a very high scoring game but what game is the highest scoring in 2022
the fuckin defence 😂😂
Omg andrew johns used to play
This is basically what rugby league was like on Xbox
Imagin scoring first try and then lossing by 38 points. OUCH.
When Andrew Johns used to dominate...
Wowsers
LITTLE KNOW FACT: each side was told before the match that the other team had cooties
4:28 beautiful hair
Why did the raiders get flogged?
Because Mr. Woodford was playing. That’s why..
Imagine scoring 32 points then losing by double that amount lol
imagine taking the under
Imagine the mulits bruh
I need to know Andrew sc points after that
On this day, defence was optional.
What about this week 74-0
Storm vs titans 2015 rd idk boy
Scored all their misuss after the game boy
Lol, my poor Raiders
Not a defensive masteclass for either team.
The quality of footy back then was terrible , nowadays it’s more even pace
Disagree. If anything it was better to watch and with less structure.
Man some of those misses were atrocious. Terrible defense on both sides.
Yeah that's pretty good but not as good as the York City Knights defeated West Welsh Raiders 144-0.
Yeah but they're talking about Australian, but still that's cool. Do you know the highest score in Rugby League?
That defence is dreadful
Joey johns . Everyone forgets he was on the pingers
They aren’t performance enhancing mate, Peptides ( the drugs the Cronulla Sharks were on) They’re performance enhancing, no need to be sour champ
The Voss turdmust be spewing that the Knights were on the right side of that one...
This would of been great for a multi
Defence was optional
‘Highest point scoring game... in Australia’* - my local club York City Knights have the record for biggest score in RL. 146-0.
Sorry mate, English Rugby League is not like Aussie League. You guys over there a bunch of pussies who don't know how to tackle
Not even higher than the super league record, which is 112 points. In a game.
Highest scoring FIRST GRADE game in Australia.
@@florencefortyseven i know, im just surprised knowing how bad some of the wooden spoon teams have been
Not true way back Canterbury I think it was won 110 0
Not true. The record score is St.George beating Canterbury 91 to 6 in 1935.
Touch footy...
I wouldve bet unders
Down the raiders 😭
Roosters 59-0 broncos is worse than this
Neither team can tackle.
They dont know how to tackle before hahah
John's is the goat anyone who disagrees knows nothing about footy
