Thank god! I hope more makers latch on to this. I hate when my fingers feel cramped between the guard and a swell at the pommel or when my pinky is has nothing to hold on to. I typically don't find myself wishing for a longer blade but pass on many interesting knives because of inadequate handle length. This is particularly true of folders. IMHO, any type of wood processing requires a full, four-finger grip. I suppose handle length is less of an issue for box opening and game processing but honestly I can use a car key for boxes and I process a LOT more firewood than game.
This looks very nice with decently thin blade stock. I wish they would offer a version in 14C28N. By the way, the handle scales are common across a number of models (Tayal, Mini-Tayal, Uni-Hart, RedWold, and Timber Wolf), and they offer alternate handle scales.
Thanks for the review, I wish more knife makers were hip to this idea. I love smaller belt knives but hate the compromised handles. My top pics (and personal rotation) for small idc fixed blade are the Essee Xancudo fixed, Lionsteel M4, Bradford 3.5, WhiteRiver M1 Backpacker AND LT Wright Next Gen. Cheers.
Hi Aaron . Although a very different knife and sheath , I believe the Steel Will 315 roamer would be a good " budget " alternative to this knife. I have the 315 and the handle is very pleasant. I have you and DBad ( Donnie B ALL Day ) to thank for bringing Steel Will fixed blades to my attention . Thanks for another great review . Thanks
Geez. I played MechWarrior/Battletech when it was a turn-based quasi-RPG game, but not the console/PC version. I hadn't even thought of it in years. Like an AC20 blast from the past. 😄 Zeke does great work. I have a couple WTGs and they take a beating well and keep on working tuff. Thanks for the look and be well, Aaron.
Great video as always. Really intriguing blade. Also wanted to thank Aaron for tipping me off on the now discontinued Maxpedition line. I was able to get one crazy cheap, and I'm loving it. I'd never be able to afford a Mad dog blade, but I guess it's really the next best thing!
I like good sized handles on fixed blades and pocket knives. There's a lot of pocket knives I'd like better if the handles weren't so thin. It seems there's more people that like those really thin pocket knives so that's how most are made.
I love my work tuff ive tried everything to break it and it seems to just amaze me. its a batoning beast. Worth every penny and personally like them better than Esse or even tops Victor is a awesome guy and doing big things with cool bad ass designers.. A+ for WT
I love everything about this blade, except the steel. I mean, it's good high carbon steel, and it's extremely well done, but I want a knife with these specs from Work Tuff in a decent stainless steel. This exact same knife in S35VN would be spectacular!
@@st-buttzooka I thought about that very thing. I also thought, "I keep begging Work Tuff to do some stainless options." This is episode fiddy-lebben of that discussion.
It's not unusual to get a full handle, it's normal. What is not normal is knife manufacturers making knife handles to small. I have small hands and you cannot get full range of grips on alot of knives. Saying your pinky finger hangs over the end of a handle is bloody pointless. This looks like a proper knife. Looks like my esee 4 clip point with a full handle! Thanks for showing. I am trying to find a UK dealer. That is a tidy sheath to go with it. A loop of para cord on it to use as a belt loop, for inside waist band carry. I want one!
I really like a lot of WTG designs, however, I think they're getting just a bit greedy with their pricing as of late. While it's a bit longer and uses different material, the Steel Will Roamer R315 is going for just over $50 on Amazon, and is designed for the same types of tasks as the Timber Wolf. Only problem is, it's made in China.
How is the balance with most of the steel in the handle? The blade height seems too high. So, you end up at a tip with a very large angle that is a bit more difficult to use. They could have shortened it and dropped the flat saber part to give you a more centered to the handle edge. Also, drop about $50 from the price to get any interest from me for a 1095 type blade.
None of the links, except for the actual Work Tuff link, took me to anywhere I can find this knife, or even Work Tuff in general. Am I missing something?
The work Tuff Your website is the only one that seems to be caring it right now. They are often on Amazon but I’m not seeing any as of today. If you are wanting one would go to their site first.
Dig the knife! Man, Mechwarrior used to be everything! My favorite thing to pilot was a Shadow Cat. Pump up that engine size, run a MASC and double jump jets and run circles around fools!
Vic lives in his native of Taiwan they are produced in Taiwan and then shipped here. You’ll just have to go to their site to check if they’re shipped to you
Just tried to WTG website link took me right over. I discovered they’re not available on Amazon at the moment so the WTG website is only place to get them. They might be available at some point in the future on Amazon but not sure.
I played the crap outa mech warrior on my PS1 I never beat that game. My PS1 broke. Got a PS3. Still have my PS1 memory cards full of games.somewhere Love Work Tuff Knives. Getting the Puzon as soon as it’s available.
The point of a bigger handle is for chopping so on a edc 3-4 inch blade, it's as pointless as a neck knife. The Becker Harpoon which I just scored onsale for $69 at SMKW . It's a way better deal.. even at it's regular price point.
@@Matthew_Australia No ! I'm always right ! 🤣 Just messing around.. Nice initial review. Thanks for showing us. Take care.

Looks like a great blade to pair with a larger blade.
Kinda reminds me of the Bark River North Country Edc with obviously a much bigger handle.
Great review. I own the ESEE 4 and the handle is too small for me. The longer handle on the Timber Wolf is definitely a huge plus.
Great review, spot on with the handle discussion. Cool knife 🔪
Consider reviewing the buck csar t first responder
I'd like to see that one as well

Timberwolf was a boss mech but the Zeus was my go to. Another favorite was the bombardier mech. Love the video
Not only have I never held one of those, I've never heard of them.
NICE Mechwarrior reference. Killer box art. Coolest looking mech in the game. Really caught my imagination as a kid.
And oh yeah, good knife 😁
The Red Wolf looks to be a better balanced looking knife with a 5" blade to match the 5" handle
I have that in rotation and plan on doing a video soon.

RealSteel CVX80 it's a good knife ?
Looks strangely similar to the Bark River North Country EDC.
I have learned to do a lot with 4 inches as well
They are really impressive. I don't think I've ever seen a bad design from them.
Wow they are really coming out with some nice stuff! Gotta decide on one to get
I prefer the Ka-bar Globetrotter.
IMO, very well made knive, I would compare it to the Druid lane from steel will

There has always been a market for large-framed double-action revolvers with short barrels for those who don't carry for Hollywood.

Yeah, it does resemble the Roamer. As for other budget competition, don't forget the Mora Kansbol, which though basic is absolutely superb.
And at $125, it's getting into Lion Steel territory.

My biggest complaint with ANY knife company is the lack of left-handed holster options. Gun holster companies accommodate us, but not knife companies.

Seems like a skewed review to make Work Tuff look better than they are. The Esee 3 or Ontario Rat-3 would be a better comparison.
Actually these make the Work Tuff Look even better next to those. No choil, way thicker and longer handle. 👍
Finger choils and thin handles blow. There's a reason why the market for changing out eese handles is so popular. Not to mention they're soft.

I really dislike finger choils, like the ESEE 3 has, but I think that $90 - $100 would be a more appropriate price for this Work Tuff.
