This exact same thing happened to me after hurricane Harvey in Victoria. The second they turned on the power the pole outside sparked and burned my house down.

You don't leave your cats home alone like you don't leave your dog home along. People are way too neglectful, all because a cat doesn't need to be let out to use the restroom.

😂 my cat goes outside and inside the dog door. Clearly you either don't have any pets or you have 500.

Some places or shelters don’t accept or want pets ! What do you suggest?

@@weekendnomad5038 So leave your pet locked up in a hot house for days on end? Sorry, but when SHE does not care for her cat, why should anyone else?

The fire didn't start at the tree. You had an existing problem already.

Why don’t people turn off their breakers when they have a long power outage like this? I thought that was pretty common knowledge? Turn off all your breakers except maybe main power and one other, once power is restored you then go turn them back on one by one. Do people just not do this anymore? Some people just unplug appliances, power strips, anything with delicate electronics, and it generally has the same effect which is preventing a surge from destroying electronics or starting fires when power is restored. It’s not the power company’s fault though. This is a dumb story.

Never heard you were supposed to do that. I unplugged anything I could reach but never thought about breakers

@@user-lp5ci9bi2j That’s what my dad always did when I was growing up. We didn’t do it for little random short power outages, but anything that was more than a few hours he would switch the breakers for. Maybe going to that extent isn’t as necessary these days if you live in a newer home with really modern electrical work, idk. I still do it anyways just to be safe, switching off every breaker after the power goes out for an extended period, then turning them back on one by one once power is restored to the house. Works for me🤷‍♂️

First you know you have to disconnect everything just in case something sparks just a little precaution

i keep hearing this happening to people, people desperately trying to call the power company and no one coming and the house burning down. i wonder if they should call the news instead ahead of time since they ignore customers distress. imagine if they had been sleep or disabled or elderly

@@GrandmaBirdyI have common sense but I had never heard of this. You can't know what you don't know. CP hasn't instructed this, no news station has mentioned it. I'd someone wasn't taught this how can they be expected to know?
