I haven't played violin in 4-5 years but I'm suddenly getting the urge to get back into it at 2am. I should be asleep, or at least studying for my exam tomorrow... But no. I'm learning how to play songs on a violin despite not owning one-

Nice that you want to learn to play violin. I would say it depends on how quickly you pick up learning to play violin and how much you practice. Everyone learns differently and a different speed. Learning how to play a song and how to play a song well, are also two different things, but then again it depends on the person, and how much they put in to learning it.
