Just now caught this phenomenal performance. Amazing. A long time musician, fan of WDR, fan of Bob Mintzer, and as a fan of any great vocalist like Jazzmeia (just hearing her for the first time), I gotta say this is one of my new favorites...and Karolina, you never cease to amaze with your sound and interpretations of everything put in front of you. Maybe in an alternative universe, I can play in the WDR Big Band.
Bravo!! Fantastic perfornance of the Rowles' masterpiece. Jazzmeia nails it, including that difficult bridge which she and Mintzer soften. I've loved Karolina's work since her days with Chico Hamilton. MIntzer is one of our greatest arrangers!!
I really like the alto saxophone solo..It has a bit of a Pete King tone to it!!..This is also refreshingly different to the version on her 'Social Call' album.
