I had a super glide sport in 2000 new. To be honest I didn’t ride it a lot but I thought it was a fantastic looking bike was everything I thought a Harley club bike should be. I still look at the sports style dyna, and think wow that’s beautiful. I was pestered by a friend to sell it, and i did Jumpin forward to 2016 id tried a lot of Japanese super cruises M109. M1800R Yamaha 1900 and decided to buy a new DYNA street Bob. Because it seemed to be the latest Incarnation of the super glide sport. It didn’t disappoint it was totally blacked out. And came with fork like tree trunks and had ABS a full keyless and coded security system. Led lights turn signals brake lights and hazards and stop light I fitted a new exhaust and filter and a ecm and it was fast. Very fast. And it handles new Lowrider s shocks and a lowering cartridge kit in the forks a set of brakeout floating disc F&R. And Lowrider s bars and risers. To tell the truth I’ve never stopped improving it and giving Harley more money since I bought it. But I genuinely think the street Bob and low rider s. And possibly the Fatbob are the best and the last of the real Harley’s. I’ve no problem with the super glide sport. I’ll end up buying another. Or the Fxr just the late DYNA s do everything better and are still a proper Harley with 6 speed. So I’d say the street Bob is the best Harley ever produced. Because it does everything better that the 20 year old predecessors. Good blog good topic. And I know all the die hards will disagree but. Your wrong. I’ve owned both.
I had a 2007 streetbob and loved it! My low rider s is a bike that I will take to the grave for sure. I love the fxdx because it is simple and stripped down but wish it had a 6 speed for sure. Down the off ramp flat out the las 80/100 yards I touch the brake let them off drop some gears and open the throttle full and drift around a hard right hand turn and just keep the throttle wide open. Best? Everyone has an opinion. My first Harley ever was a Diamond Ice 99 that crapped a cam bearing at 5000 miles, spreading evil metal everywhere and I got rid of it. It was so bad it wouldn’t run under 2k rpm. Fortunately it was under warranty and the owner of the dealer -Bob DeHaven at Patriot H.D. loaned me his Road King Demo until it was fixed.
