I have designated fleets for each world - 5 to 8 trucks - that way I've been able to use all the trucks in the game so far. Fleets are a mixture of "good" trucks and "bad" trucks, just whatever feels right for that region.

I started using only the fleetstar in Michigan and Alaska and the ANK civilian for tougher Offroad conditions to make the game harder. In Taymir I will also use only the worst Russian trucks, but when I feel they are too bad I will skip to the next best one.
And at season 1 I will using any russian truck I want because DlC maps are tough anyway.

After almost 1600 hours in SnowRunner, I can say I've tried everything. Like you, I overlooked the Freightliner 114SD and CAT CT681, and I was pleasantly surprised by their performance. The ZiKZ 566a and Step 310E I knew were good trucks because I started using them immediately after discovery. The Step 310E helped me through a lot of Taymyr after I found it there. I never used it with the highrange gearbox, and if you don't use that gearbox, it becomes one of the most fuel-efficient trucks in the whole game.
Different story with the Longhorn 4520 and Mack Defense. I really wanted to love these trucks, but they have disappointed me under too many circumstances. The 4520 is quite manoeuvrable as you say, and I fully agree. But even with the top engine, this truck struggles anytime the road starts going uphill _even without cargo_. I don't mind the 'slow & steady' approach in SnowRunner, and unlike other players, I'm not obsessed with going as fast as possible anywhere, but this truck is just lethargic and not that fuel-efficient.
The Mack Defense was a total letdown before Saber corrected its hitbox. After the patch, many people told me I should try it again because the difference in perfomance was 'night and day', they said. I tried it, it was better, but not _that_ better. I still think this truck drags its feet too much too often, and it's still terrible at fuel consumption. One should use it always with the roof rack, and the irony is that it becomes less stable with it.
Anyway… sorry for my rambling! I loved the video, and I'm glad it was about SnowRunner, as I'm really not interested in Expeditions. Your content keeps getting better, and I'm here for the ride! Cheers! //Rick

Lies, you have not tried the derry with the new engine. Point invalid.

@@masonreppeto882 I have now 1900+ hours of gameplay in SnowRunner. I have completed the first 12 seasons _twice._ If a truck has an underwhelming performance, don't you think I would try the most powerful engine before making an assessment? The Derry Longhorn 4520's performance is disappointing with any of the three weaker engines, and barely passable with the Gb-8V 3200. I've given it many chances. It's not a total disaster, but it's clear the developers have crippled it. In British Columbia, I had to 'rescue' it on three different missions because it struggled hauling cargo uphill: I either had to use another truck to pull it, or simply to take its place and finish the mission. In Scandinavia, on less demanding terrain, it did its job as expected. But there are so many better trucks than the Derry 4520, and it's never my first choice for any kind of mission. On the other hand, the improved Mack Defense has grown on me in the past 2 months.

I think every truck is worth trying as they all can have a use for something in the game. I like the challenge of using them as it keeps the game fun for me.

Except the big cat😂. Has one contract use and that's it. But otherwise all have a use for me

@@Nil2none with the fuel add on it makes a good recovery truck that has so much torque it can rescue tipped or stuck trucks in some cases. It's also a stable medium log truck.

The DL 4520 is an interesting one. I hear people say its underpowered a LOT, but normally as long as you keep it in Low+ on backroads its a pretty solid rig! Excellent turining radius, and lets not forget it has one of the loudest horns in the game :)

I've only played Michigan and Alaska so far but the CT681 is my favorite general-purpose truck for scouting and running 2 slot loads. It's a challenge to keep upright with medium logs but the dead axle seems to help with that if the terrain is permissive.

The Freightliner 114SD requires rank 20 before you can purchase it. so good luck getting it for early game. Maybe if you rush over to the second map of season 9. but still by the time you can get this truck there are much better options available.

The Step may not have big tires but the frame and fuel tank sits so high that it almost never comes in contact with mud or snow except for maybe in the deepest of pits, but what are you doing driving in there anyway? Also, use the "Voin" engine, that thing is perfect for this truck and sure it's not the strongest engine the Step can use but the fuel economy is worth it.

The 566A feels similar to driving a real life vehicle with manual steering at slow speeds, and the brakes remind me of manual brakes as well.

Nice vid! Makes me a bit ashamed I use almost all mod trucks. My recent discovery was the Voron Grad - with all the extras it’s fast, stable and fun to drive. Will be retrying some of the trucks you mentioned for sure.

I don't buy the same truck twice and I don't like to recover to the garage to change addon so I use a lot of different trucks. TBH most trucks are capable, some are very op but I leave the most difficult tasks for the op trucks.

Bro the Derry Longhorn is one of the best trucks in the game (with the biggest engine).

Let be honest without fuel and repair on the roof of these trucks they have become useless.

They really aren't a big deal, just don't lower them. I used the CT681 and 49X as my short log trucks for the longest time until finally giving that role to the 605R and Derry Special last season because I wasn't using them much. The CT681 & 49X had no problem going anywhere any other similar sized truck would go. I'd even say the two were better offroad then some comparable trucks. For me I've actually always found the HX 520 one of the absolute worst semi's offroad, I always get stuck in that thing real easy compared to more or less any other semi really.
And don't forget the Alaska Derry Longhorn. That thing makes a great saddle low trailer truck. Bit on the slow side, but it'll haul and having a dead axle doesn't stop it from going through a lot.
Dead axles are sometime to be mindful of, sure. But people massively overstate how much of issue these cause and act like any truck that has them are automatically useless, and I can tell you from first hand experience using them in the game that isn't true.
And sure Voron's, Tayga's and Azov's are all you need. That's also boring using just the easy mode trucks all the time though and I believe one handicaps themselves as well only using those trucks. Using weaker trucks improves your driving skills making you need to be more aware of your terrain and even realise the importance of low gears rather than just driving in auto everywhere. And for me, using a wide variety of trucks with different capabilities keeps the game interesting. If I'd stuck to using only Voron's and Azov's since Taymir I probably wouldn't still be playing the game now. It would have just gotten dull over time.
