My parents were born in the 1920s, I was born when they were older (in their 40s). I grew up watching all the classics musicals on late night and weekend tv. My dad had a good voice, and my mom loved all the Jeanette McDonald/nelson Eddy musicals so I heard their songs all the time. Watching this brings them back and makes me happy
Amen! Similar life story. My Dad was a projectionist and rented MacDonald Eddy films and we watched them on a screen on the living room wall. Talk about making an impression! Love them.❤
I was also a child of a mother in her 40's! She too introduced me too a lot of classic films and music. Only recently has she welcomed me in to the Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald filmography. She is obsessed with these two, as of late! I am happy to continue to make these memories with her in her golden years on this Earth. You're comment touched me.
And I'd quite like to hear you sing it. I believe that Felex Knight sang this song to great effect; he was an American tenor back in the 1920's and 1930's.
Jeanette McDonald. Nelson Eddy. Deana Durbin all My favourites I used to watch in cinema. I am 91 now still listen love them. Thank God for my U Tune Apple. ❤
Magnificent singing......... these 2 will never be repeated.......outstanding........and they loved each other so much, and does it ever show on the screen........may they rest in peace...!!!!!!..
IT WAS A WODERFUL EXPERIENCE!...…….THE PEOPLE WITH EYES ON THE SCREEN SHOWING VARIOUS EMOTIONS ON THEIR FACES!!…………...THEY ALL AS WELL AS I WERE THRILLED!!!
They were twin flames who found each other and their love shines in their eyes as they sing from that place in their hearts for what they really feel for each other. Epic movie. Naughty Marrietta. Their love is forever captured in this film.💖
Yes there is a mystery of life. ❤❤❤❤❤she and Nelson made it so believable. They were so good together. They should have married each other but belonged to someone else. Their voices blended so well.
Got into a fight last year on a train with two blokes who were playing a rap song " Bend down I want to Hump your arse " I told them to turn it off they got a bit stroppy but they turned it off when I stood up. I've gone a few rounds in my youth..
Surly one of the most beautiful love songs ever written and sung! In it romantic love transcends the personal and becomes the central quest of being human😍

My mother, who was born in 1923, used to tell the story of how Nelson Eddy once came to sing at the Shamokin, PA. opera house. Afterward, he attended a party in a house on Danville, PA's Market Street. She was only a young teen and was not invited to the party. But her parents attended. And my mother used to say, when Nelson Eddy came to town, all the women folk in town were "all-a-twitter."
I've just recently became a fan of Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy from watching Turner classic movie channel I just love their voices they have such calming effect
What beautiful harmony those two had. Jeanette McDonald had such a beautiful voice like a bird. I'll always love her and her pictures. So sad she died so young.
Years ago when I visited New Westminster, BC a theatre there had 8 weeks, every Wednesday, their movies. I never cried so much as at the end of May Time. Loved their movies. I was, and still am, a romantic.

Here you go. Ah, sweet mystery of life at last I've found thee, Oh, at last I know the secret of it all. Oh, the longing, seeking, striving, waiting, yearning, The idle hopes and joys and burning tears that fall. For it's love and love alone the world is seeking, And it's love and love alone I've waited for. And my heart has heard the answer to its calling, And it it love that rules for ever more.
Was there ever a more competent or accomplished pair for interpreting a romantic duet? No wonder Nelson Eddy chose to sing this as a tribute at Harlow’s funeral.
I love this song. I love this movie. I love Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy (but especially Jeanette). They were my mom’s favorite movie couple, and watching them reminds me of her
The music that gave our parents deep and strong good emotions. Even in Mexico, where this movies were the first ones to be seen, which made a huge change in life and peoples considerations of life. In the 50s, we still could hear Jeannette McDonald and Nelson Eddy singing. My mother use to sing, sometimes just the melody, of Indian Love Call, a song that was a very nice sound presence in me as a very young kid.

What gets me about this song is that Jeanette McDonald's very first note is almost indistinguishable from the violin accompanying her. Amazing!
I loved those old movies
O that voice absolutely beautiful 😍❤️😘how she holds those notes absolutely beautiful, rest in peace Jeannette,
The best opera singers ever. They really loved each other it was genuine. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
