These two could do duets like no two other lovers could. They were a gift to us while they were here & remain a gift to us even after they departed & their gorgeous musical voices will go on to live forever in our hearts.
I'm 61 years old, my father a bully, never married or dated, but I say this towards the end of my life, I never thought such beauty existed, as we grow old we all know whether we admit it or not, that, true love, the love for another, is the most important, relevant thing there is, this is the meaning of life, we all know it when we hear such music, it brings us all to our senses, in our hearts we know what we love, and want, and what is true to our nature, don't we.
I have been listening to their music for over 6o years & this song in paticular ...I'm sure their's was the great love story...Romantic fool that I am...
Nelson said when he sees her in those gowns and wigs how beautiful she looks the chemistry between them is so obvious they loved each other a good looking couple. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
The perfection of this movie with the two greatest singers that could never be duplicated stays with me every time I hear it and remember my beloved husband who died too soon and remember just to live on and die everyday..
I love your name with a passion. My father is now in Heaven with my dear Mother. My Father's real name was Timothy John but they called him Jack just like JFK. Of course my last name is the same as yours & my parents. How wonderful to meet you.
So very TRUE!! One of the very BEST MOMENTS in sing 🎶 for Our Beloved Nelson and his Jenny!! The BODY MOVEMENTS AND THE “HANDS”❤❤NELSON BEAUTIFUL HANDS MAKING LOVE ❤️ TO HIS ONE AND ONLY❤JENNY💕
🎶🎶🌹🌹still in love 🥰 with “NEW MOON 🌙 “ right up there with “INDIAN ❤️ CALL” Nelson and Jeanette love💞 is so ALIVE AND BEAUTIFUL 🎶🎶🌹🌹 So True!! No one was able to destroy this Beautiy🎶🎶🌹🌹❤️❤️🙏 Thank You. Always JoAnn ALABASTER 🎶🎶❤️❤️🎶🎶🌹
I remember, so long ago, my mother loved these two singers, and Daddy loved his music; neither one were musicians but they loved their music and made certain that all of us children learned piano and instruments. I remember my mother especially loved the song "Will You Remember" that Nelson and Jeanette sang. So these old songs bring back memories for me as a child!
The best part of this video is when they are standing and singing together. The way Nelson Eddy harmonizes with her is wonderful and he never takes his eyes off her.
Beautiful, and so sad this kind of loving romance seems to have gone forever . And as well as the singing, the way Jeanette half reaches out a hand timidly hoping he will respond, and then he does, Priceless. Also the way at first it’s just two people remembering and sharing a much loved song together, until Nelson can’t help himself and grasps her hands , then she realizes ,he means her.
Just read about Nelson Eddy on Wiki. He and Jeanette MacDonald WERE in love but interference from Mayer stopped them divorcing their respective spouses and being married. So, so sad.
I know they were married to other people but they actually seemed to be very in love with one another, when they sang holding each other, it was breath-taking!!
They weren't acting. That is the magic of Mac Eddy ! They truly wanted each other and were so much in love. The most beautiful leading lady and most handsome leading actor of all time, all this and they could sing too! There will never be another Mac and Eddy. I have seen all their movies and love Maytime the best, with Rose Marie a close second. Jeanette Mac Donald was stunning in both, Nelson Eddy, soooooooooo handsome. I am grateful their presence has been preserved on film.
What drug are you on? Or SHOULD be on? Eddy was gay as a goose. It was called "Hollywood's worst kept secret." Mac was married and deeply loved Gene Raymond. What you are seeing is what you WANT to see. They are ACTING. jeesh....
The beauty of this scene is absolutely staggering. And their voices blended to perfection, in a way difficult to qualify. A masterpiece of recording only possible in MGM´s golden age.
What a great song, considering they both loved each other. How many people in those days could work together and still be in love that that. I give my hat to them.
Recently Foxtel has had a revival of JM & NE movies and I've been in heaven watching their beautiful chemistry together and listening to their magnificent voices. I've now revisited this page several times as I can't get enough. In every scene where they sing together there is a magic of love and emotion you can't deny. Yes, they are actors, but there is so much passion and emotion that you feel their love.
I've loved these two since I was a kid, many decades ago. It was an amazing experience to grow up watching them, and also Fred and Ginger. They brought a lot of Light into what was a very bleak childhood, and for that I am eternally grateful. I love it that even in these sometimes decadent times the love Jeanette and Nelson truly had for each other is still felt in their songs. It's a very beautiful thing, a precious thing to be treasured forever.
"NEW MOON" HAS BECOME ONE OF MY FAVORITE S SINCE MY ILLNESS!!🌹🌹 I have watched DVDS over and over🌹🌹 The acting and their Love really comes through!!! THANK YOU. And I an beginning to improve💖💖💖JBTAYLOR
JoAnn, Yes, Jeanette and Nelson help with my healing too. Fred and Ginger also help. During the past year, with everything else we've had to deal with, watching and loving such amazing talent daily has made it so much easier to cope with it all. So grateful.
🌹🌹I pray you are happy and well!! Thanks to Sharon and friends who keep us in touch with such beautiful Songs but most of all with Our Nelson and his Jenny 🌹🎶🌹🎶🤗🤗Jo Ann
Thank you for posting. This film was made 1 year before I was born, but I have seen it several times and it brings back many memories having seen it with my late dear mother. You have made a miserable old man very happy.
Cannot tell you how this makes me feel. I come back every now and then. Especially when I feel a tad down. I am sure I have said it before, thank you so much for keeping these alive in our hearts. Now I will go through my VHS collections of these all. Blessing upon you. I only regret I was to young to hear them. Jane
Just WATCHING NELSON and JEANETTE sing AGAIN!!! WOW....our NELSON sings with his ENTIRE Body.... You are able to feel THEIR 💘 coming THROUGH. Nelson eyes are tearing up and of course I am 😢 my heart OUT!!🌹🌹💖💖 PERFECT.... PERFECT Pitch Thanks YOU ALL for keeping This PRECIOUS LOVE ALIVE🎶🎶😢😢🤗
Dreams were made of these . My moms favourite in her teen years . At times I do now put on their records and or CD for good clean uplifting songs , melodies . And have several their films my collection , vhs .
Time will be kind to them. Their performance will never grow old. Magnificent. Just pulls at your heart. Not many people know this but, they were in love offstage. That's what fueled their performance. They had a lifetime love affair. If I ever remarry, I'd like that song to be played for our first dance! ♥ Rest in peace you beautiful souls. For me, the both of you will never grow old.
Another wonderful song from Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald from their film NEW MOON based on the Operetta of the same name. I grew up with this melodious music which you hear very rarely now adays. Thank you UA-cam for giving us the change to listen to it again..
IMO, Nelson Eddy had one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard. thank Goodness we have the recordings. His diction was so clear, and his voice incredibly beautiful. I've listened to many famous singers, both Popular and Opera, Never heard any better.
Gorgeous!!!!! Love Them both, I was not born yet but my Mom-saw them in Person and said Jeanette was Beautiful and Nelson was Handsome She told me all about them and I will Always Adore Them I have the Movie Maytime and the Album! ♥️♥️😘😘😘😘
This is one of my favorites. It seems it was first presented in 1940, a few years before my birth, but I often listened to it as a youngster. In concert with “Rose-Marie - The Mounties”, I grew to appreciate American operetta. Thanks much to a buddy in high school who knew this music and introduced me to it.
I was only about 6 years old when I heard Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy on the radio. I still listen and watch them but I grew up in a different era.
Love them the best of music in my life are them, Nelson and Jeannette Nelson, for me I hold them toghether as their story was so sad! They live in our hearts for ever
A film like this would never make it today. Things really change, some for the best and some for the worst. Today there are no musical movies which really ended at the end of the late 50's to early 60's.
Believe it or not, the movie called, THE DESCENDENTS, even though its a recent movie geared towards teenagers is actually pretty good with a couple of surprisi ng songs in it...not the quality of MAC/EDDY movies or songs but at least entertaining to the new generation that probably wouldn't watch our old classics!!! My 11 yr old granddaughter and I watched all three of the DESCENDENTS trilogy, maybe I should have her watch MAC/EDDY and c her reaction!!
Aloha Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy !!!!!!!!! You both are the perfect duet to serenade this beautiful serenade "Wanting You." My life has been blessed over 50 years because your divine singing has given me much happiness and joy !!!!!!! Am now 78 years and can play your singing on You Tube everyday for hours !!!!!!!!! Rest in Peace !!!!! Your humble fan, Robert S.J. Hu July 29, 2020.
Oh my look at how her shoulders relax whew!! She’s his how all the words in the love songs that they sang to each other conveyed all the pent up deep feelings that they had for each other n could not express openly so sad
We have an expression in Canada there's no doubt about it and its these two wonderful artists and real time lovers that bring this expression to its fullest absolutely beautiful
Hard to resist playing this whenever it comes to my screen, which is often. I'd say one of their best, except that I'm entranced by all that are posted. Too difficult to pick a "best". Love all they sang.
So beautiful! One of my absolute favorites. It is said that making this movie was very painful for them as they weren't allowed to Express their love freely. When they sang this song, no one in the entire crew had a dry eye. They sang their hearts out and their feelings for one another is their for all to see. I even cry when I watch them sing this.
My Mom who would have turned 91 passed away on the 11. Mom loved them both even as a child we all would watch their moves and it was a singing extravaganza. This is for my mom.
What memories one has now I am 80 years of age, this couple were brilliant, plus the wonderful music, my child hood memories, walking to the picture show 194 0,s late fifties, in Casino Australia, never forget, also to mum, she adored Nelsn and Jeanette.
Richard Butcher (reply) My mum too. She was born in Melbourne, went to school in W.A. and settled in Qld. These songs she used to sing to me in my childhood and I am a long way off 80. Evergreens.
I could listen to both Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald forever, never has perfection of two singers of the classical movie world could duplicate their perfection.
Jeanette and my Grandmother were dear friends in their teens and early 20’s. They hung out together in Atlantic City. My Nana always spoke so fondly of their times together 😊
Hi Baz: Thank you for posting this beautifully done video of one of my favorite duets of Jen and Nelson. Knowing the background of what was going on in their, lives at the time of the filming, I can appreciate the body language between our 2 stars...highly emotionally charged. As always your video artistry is incomparable! I'm busy at a conference in Phoenix this weekend but just had to take time out to appreciate all that you do for Jen and Nelson to keep their incredible legacy alive.
Yep, gone forever. Except for historians of romance. It's all junior high school feelings, but the best of swooning bewilderment. Spend all day, day after day, thinking about, wishing that that someone loved you.
These two could do duets like no two other lovers could. They were a gift to us while they were here & remain a gift to us even after they departed & their gorgeous musical voices will go on to live forever in our hearts.
Julie that is so beautifully said no one could add another word.❤❤
These words are words of love to my Steven who passed last year. It could not be more beautifully sung. Thank you Jeanette and Nelson.❤❤

No, not a bit. Jeanette was a sensational actress.
There will never be anything like this ever again - a beautifully photographed romantically emotional duet

These enchanting musicals brought culture to Americans across the States. The music of operetta revived from the turn of the century!
Leaves me breathless! This duo are divine! Thank you.
