  • In this vlog, Caleb IS BACK to Racing! With only 6 trips to the pool and 8 weeks to find my bike legs, I go FULL SEND and attempt to go sub 5 on a rolling course. The swim and bike set me up perfectly for a sub 5 but can I close it out?

Thank you, Stu!! Which race are you doing? I can’t wait to follow along. I’m sure you will do a great job documenting it.

Great video as always. Sub 5 is right around the corner. Almost had me crying when you said Efird's don't quit. Crazy looking at all the bikes in the transition area.

Agree Wayne!! Thanks so much for the comment! I have that same thought about bikes at every Ironman race… assuming the average bike value is around $3000, that’s a lot of money sitting out there!

Nice work on the video and race! The goal will come soon, Ive heard the run was pretty difficult there this year.
Definitely considering adding the stryd pod to my training, run power seems like a great data metric to use.
    See you in September! 🚂

Thank you! The run was difficult this year. It heated up. When I started the run, it was 75 and heated up to somewhere in the low 80’s by the end of the day. I absolutely love the Stryd pod. Though many newer watches offer native power built in. Running with power has given me a love for running on hills. I used to hate them!

Well done Caleb! Videography was great too. The drone shot above and below the bridge… brave!

Phew, that was close! I needed 1.5yrs of dedicated training (plus bike training before that) to make it sub 5. 4:59:44, to be exact. I blame my age ;-) Next time, you will scratch at 4:45!

This is one of the most encouraging things!! I appreciate the kind words and that ABSOLUTELY fuels me! Thanks for taking the time to write this. You are a beast for sub5. What course was that on?

@@EfirdStrong It was one of the faster courses in Germany, the "Carglass Köln Triathlon". 2.6km swim (400m real swim, the rest is letting the river Rhine do the work), 81km bike, (quite flat) 19km run. I am a really bad runner, 6min/km = 9.6min/mile. And getting better is a challenge. The short run course saved me 5-10 minutes :-)
