- Final 10 laps of the race as Ricky Craven survive a hard charging Dale Jarrett to get his first career win for him and Cal Wells Racing. Post race interview in the winner circle. Matt Yocum remember his name his Ricky Craven, got it?
I really like how Allen Bestwick calls a drivers first win. He always says "_____ is a NASCAR Sprint Cup Winner!"
Noonecanknow Miner
*Winston Cup winner
Craven is a guy who ovecame a whole lot, those concussion injuries and everything he overcame it was awesome he won at Martinsville and Darlington. I'm sure he treasures his grandfather clock.
Jarrett racing clean and classy as always.
yep
Finally wins a race; gets called Ricky Rudd twice.
I always thought that was funny
Well...>Ward Burton probably won't complain about his Daytona 500 or Southern 500 trophies he has at home...
That 22 was a very underrated car in the early 2000's
The pride of central Maine! I've been trying to find this video for a long time; great to see it again. Ricky won only two races but boy were they both classics!
Ricky Craven = Master of Awesome Finishes
Whenever Craven won a race, he won it in spectacular fashion.
Back when cars looked like real NASCAR cars.
Craven's Tide and Jarrett's UPS- oh, how I miss when looking at the paint schemes was almost as fun as the racing itself.
They still look good
@@braedenallen4539 not as good though :(
One thing I've noticed through the years at Martinsville is that it's next to impossible to pass someone on the outside.
You tell how DJ and Ricky felt about each other. The beat on each, they bumped each other, but they didn't wreck each other. That's how you run hard and clear.
I love Ricky Craven, this win and of course his win at DARLINGTON over Kurt Busch, wow, great race car driver, thanks for the post, so, so much..!!!
Oh wow, I thought Darlington was his only win, I didn't know he won Martinsville
Well the Darlington stands out as his career jewel so… you’d be forgiven.
But if you play NASCAR thunder 2003 and you DONT play thunder challenges? You’d have to check driver stats 😄
It’s worth a view cause he’s accent screws him on his voice recordings.
Craven is great he definetly earned all his wins
Any Craven win seems to be a fantastic finish.
Shoot, any pre-2004 finish seems to be a fantastic finish.
agreed
Yes, I have been looking for this one. The Hamilton-Harvick contact was what this race was known for but the key moment was Craven's win.
i loved the days when anyone could win in nascar
At 9:34 Bill said Ricky rudd! What????
Rudd drove the tide ride for years. He was replaced in it by Craven
@@ohiopower no he wasn't. Rudd was followed by Scott Pruett who was dropped for Craven.
Craven, not Rudd, Yockum & Webber.
Of course Like everything Bill Weber ruins a good moment, Ricky Rudd....well I guess he did drive for Tide for a few years.
back when nascar was exiting and had drivers that matter
How cool was the Earnhradt-esgue pit road where other crews congratulated Craven...boy if he wasn't plagued with injuries I think Craven could have had a career like Jeff Burton.
Mark Martin will always be the man and most respected
Allen Bestwick = Greatest Ever.
This was a classic race
R.I.P Old School Generation #2 (Houston,Mast,Marcis,Stricklin,Trickle,L.Speed,The Bodines Geoff And brett,Rudd,Pressley,Mayfield,Marlin,R.Wallace,Hamilton,Grissom,Allen,Purvis,And Jones)
THE BEST OLD SCHOOL GENERATION EVER
Apparently with winning his first race, Ricky Craven did not earn the right to not be mistaken for Ricky Rudd. :P
This truly was an instant classic of a finish! In fact, Rocky certainly knows how to win in style!
Craven puts on one hell of a show when hes up there.
ESPN needs to have Craven do more booth work now. he's the best of the bunch.
Allen Bestwick needs to be in the booth!!!
Craven was so under-rated
Ricky... Rudd?
Ricky craven
Weston White I am aware of that... Weber made the mistake of calling him Ricky Rudd in victory lane.
Nice one!
Craven only won 2 races in Cup but both were some of the best finishes in the past 20 years of the sport, its a shame his career got derailed by crashes and injuries, he's lucky to be alive after the ones he was in
among other things, awesome helmet on an awesome driver lol
Despite all of the sad events that happened in 2001, it was a great year in NASCAR, even though Dale had died in Feb.
folks still hold up 3 fingers on lap 3 at the tracks today
lol Yea, Matt Yocum did it as he was driving down pit road, too. He just won his first race, the least they could do is say his name right. hah
wow what a finish. that was an amazing move for dale to almost get it done up high, you NEVER see that at martinsville. 88 could have had it if craven did't run him way up ito the marbles in 3 and 4. (if dale thought ricky would do that,i bet he'd just bump the 32 out of the way ;)
I was at this race. I also seen Bobby Hamilton win at Martinsville a few years earlier
This race ran on Monday....didn't get to see it
@canadasimpsons555 The reason they kept saying Ricky Rudd is because Ricky Craven Won for the first time in his Cup Career. Ricky Rudd was driving back then and was in Nascar for a long time. He also won a bunch of races in his career, so in my opinion it's because they were so used to saying Rudd's name that when Ricky Craven won they just couldn't blurt of "Craven" and said Rudd. They do both have the same first name. LOL!
Ricky Craven... the most spectacular winner in NASCAR. when he wins.. he wants people to know it
when nascar racing was good.......
so cool that I was at that race
Benny Parsons
@RNCoyote That's cool that the Wallace bros. were on the same team for a little bit
craven could have been winless his entire career
Well Craven actually had more cup wins than Benson but Benson did win a Busch and Truck series title...Benson had some injuries too and the #26 wasn't even close to the #6 or #99 when he was at Roush. If he did what he did with the #10, imagine if he was in a top-notch ride.
Heck even if Ward had better equipment than Bill Davis, I'm sure he would of won more. All 3 drivers were very solid, smart, and clean.
poor ricky, they kept saying RUDD not craven
Bill Weber said Ricky Rudd instead of Ricky Craven, lol.
Great finish.
haha this was my first race i ever went to i was on the backstrech and im certain that it got rained out i forgot
Both of Craven's Cup wins were close, his final Cup win though, was closer and better.
Was this the last race before they started putting the victory lane on the front stretch at martinsville
Now THATS how you race guys... I’m looking at you Joey Logano.
@awz121 Any year before kyle and jimme came in and stumk up the show
@slicktwilly Plus, Tide used to sponsor Rudd's car in the 90's.
You forgot Dale Earnhardt Car #3. Generation 2 driver as well.
put the stupid bar away, let them get on the car if they want
@braves15 He probably should've won about 10-15, but things keep happening to him that prevent him from reaching glory. I think, (and I probably speak for millions), that Ricky's biggest win was the '03 Darlington Spring race.
And he got cheated out of a truck championship when Jack Rousch flipped his two teams so that rookie kid could move up in the point standings.
What brought me back here was that PVC pipe thing to keep drivers off of their cars.
Absolutely cringe
I miss Benny!
@5:16 ummm Marty Snyder it's Ricky craven. Not Ricky rudd
Back when you could run someone up the track without them spinning you
@RNCoyote thought he was hurt? cuz he came back and drove the 19 in 2002
FORD VS FORD
Powered by Ford!🏁
post actual date!
@grandprix2412 because they wanted to stop drivers from jumping on the roofs of cars it blamed for failed inspections
they kept sayin ricky rudd, because rudd ran the tide car for like 10 years, and they were just confused....LOL
I really miss Pontiac in nascar. That Tide car tho, what can you say?
Yes but in this race Craven drove a Ford.
👍
I bet you that he was Craven more wins after this one. LOL
@Godblessamerica2012 that would be awesome!!!! but your right it wont happen
Except the driver in that 88 was actually an awesome driver.
@HilaryHaylieRocks08 how about him and bob jenkins. oh well probally will never happen
@HilaryHaylieRocks08 he's ok. Mike Joy, Larry Mac and DW r better
ahhh the "silly sticks" in victory lane . . . the stupid $#*! this sanctioning body has come up with thru the years
i can't stand Ricky.
Before the car of tomorrow ruined the sport.
The COT didn't last long anyway
Meth!
Ricky might have only won two Cup races, but he sure had to earn both of them!
I like how Matt Yocum and Bill Weber both called him Ricky Rudd. It was nice to see Craven win - very emotional day for him.
Man that number 32 Tide car looked sweet. I always loved that car.
Grew up not far from where Craven grew up. My family and I have met him so much that he recognized us everytime we showed up haha. Really nice man
I miss those camera shots of the drivers preparing to climb out of the car in victory lane.
this was when racing was awesome all these guys. Being from Maine I was cheering for Craven which was hard cause Jarrett is my favorite racer ever
Austin Theirault is my guy now
what a finish for Craven's first win
Bring back short tracks
Nascar just ain't as good as it used to be. I'm a Jr. Fan.
not saying anything bad with Rudd's engine failure but he finishes 39th after an engine failure on lap 397, these days that's about a 30th place finish
It's a shame Craven only won one more race. He's really well spoken and sounds like a pretty cool guy.
@ DFP that was matt youm lol spelling
Did Allan really say "Ricky Rudd in victory lane..." there at the end? Others heard that too, right?
"On sunny October Monday "
i heard this was on a Sunday October Monday
Speedy Ricky Rudd Craven wis
Back When NASCAR was NASCAR! Miss those days! Back then it was none of that buggetity buggetity shit! Fox and new guard at NASCAR completely ruined the sport.
