honestly, Alola Starters are the reason I started using Masuda's method rather than resetting
yeah, whenever possible, just use the Masuda method, especially with the 3ds games where you can just create files with different languages

But seriously, my abandonment of resets had one simple explanation: I'm not 12 anymore and I have other things to do, and well... most of the shiny legendaries I would like to have are in Pokemon GO, so it's not problem for me

Don't forget the costumes in pokemon battle revolution. They may not be pokemons, but getting a shiny costume is incredibly time-consuming

Shiny hunting honey tree Munchlax would drive me insane probably
It would've been revolutionary to have both the mythical Pokémon and legendary Pokémon available in PLA able to be shiny because it would've been the absolute best way to hunt and capture a shiny Manaphy.
Tbf it wouldn’t actually be that bad, when you slather the tree with honey, the Pokémon is determined then, so once you get the munchlax on a tree(which will take a while probably lmao) you can just soft reset at that tree until you get the shiny

Speaking of Go players, shiny hunting some pokemon is painful. Raid bosses aside, Zorua is one of the hardest hunts. Finding one appears as your buddy on the map, then you have to catch it and hope it’s shiny. That’s if it’s even spawning since events love to ruin spawn tables.
Special shoutout to Cherubi, who is almost only available using a mossy lure or during events with it in tasks.
I have found a shiny Zorua in Go, but it was weak, so now it's in my Scarlet.
I got one while I was going to Bed but I sent it to Scarlet

X and Y starters are fairly difficult too. Especially if you care about your name, nickname, and style.
Chain fishing Feebas in ORAS is the best hunting method for it, since depending on if it's daytime or nighttime there are spots where it can be a guaranteed fishing encounter and chain fishing odds are very broken
It’s always guaranteed if you’re fishing under the bridge too. I got a friend into shiny hunting not too long ago, they like to team up to hunt in SV and they recently said they wanted to hunt Feebas. Instead I’m gonna teach them how to chain fish😂

@@ShadowJCreedI remember at nighttime trying to find one by the rock, and before I could find it a Shiny Caravanha appeared.
Searching for a shiny with a low encounter rate in a route with a lot of encounters sounds like an easy way to get angry cause there's a good chance you won't get that Pokemon first.
I've phased many times doing just that but an experienced hunter goes into the hunt knowing they may not find their target first try.
However in my case, I've been able to find my target Pokémon first try but either fail it or not get what I want on it and end up having to hunt it again...

at least feebas was made insanely easy once. in ORAS, feebas can always be found as a guaranteed fishing encounter in one of two areas depending on the time of day, and chain fishing brings the shiny odds way up, making it much easier to walk away with several of them in an hour or so

I got super lucky a few years ago. I was resetting Sun for a female Rowlett, and got excited when I randomly got a shiny one. And ot was even female!
I painfully remember this from experience: The latios or latios you encounter after having to battle team magma or aqua in the middle of your playthrough of ORAS. The first time leaving mauville city to head to Fortree. You can't save after the battle only before, so every time is a 3 to 4 minutes between soft resets. Smh
I did that hunt, it does indeed suck.
Getting a shiny Latias from this literally made me a shiny hunter. And I wasn't even hunting it

I will never forget the one time I got a shiny during a SwSh Raid Adventure (or whatever it was called…it was a dlc thing ik that). And it happened to be Kyurem of all things.
Finally decided to rename him, now i have Squares :D
it is called Dynamax Adventures, only shiny I have gotten from it is Alcremie (since I want to have all Gmax pokemon that was nice since I still needed Alcremie)

Recently, maybe about a month ago, I got shiny Piplup in Diamond extremely underodds. I wasn't keeping track, but I know based on the other hunts I did on the side and how little I soft reset on Diamond.
On top of that, it was the first "reset" I did that day. I opened my DSes to start hunting and immediately was greeted with a shiny Piplup. Was a great day! Named him Jeff in honor of my Empoleon from Platinum :)

Shiny hunting for Manaphy in Ranger + DP... that is such a pain😭
I remember hunting for a shiny roaring moon... I got over 10 shiny zweilous. It was painful. It got to the point I didn't want to even waste herbs on them so I'd reset after catching 2 shinies. Took like a week of hunting. Worst luck I've ever had in scarlet and violet

Feebas is actually pretty easy to find once you’ve found it, I tried shiny hunting one in sapphire once, ended up with a shiny tentacool instead

Makes sense for N's at least since all of his pokemon are locked I think (like not juste shiny locked, they're identical in every way each time), but idk why they decided to lock Zoroark and Zorua (you can Masuda sure, but idk there was no reason to lock those since they don't have OW appearances nor story related implications).

You’re forgetting how long it takes to get through the X & Y cutscene for getting your starter. Biggest pain in the arse ever
Jirachi's method was cutdown infinitely. All you have to do is play up to getting the pokedex, save twice, get the jirachi, then if its not the one you want, on the title screen, wipe all data and turn off the device the isntant you hit A, and then resave and do it again.

As a person who accidentally got a shiny magicarp whike searching for febass, that last one is hella relatable 😂
I spent two months soft resetting for a Popplio last summer to do a shiny only run of ultra sun. It was grueling but so worth it when the little seal showed up.
And I got repaid when I started resetting for a shiny tyrunt and got it after thirty minutes and 27 attempts.
Seeing that shiny Kyurem makes me want to cry... i found that in 7 SRs in ORAS.... i unfortunately lost it just the same fate. I lost my Pokemon X file.

I’ve been grinding for the past 6 months in ultra moon in the same wormhole for a shiny mewtwo, it is actually the worst thing ever, all I want is my toothpaste man.
I never shiny hunted until Gen 9. The sandwiches are just so easy to use. The only thing I ever reset my game for was good natures for the starters, gift Pokémon etc. I honestly don't get how shiny hunters can waste weeks or months of their lives like that. No wonder Game Freak started shiny locking legendaries.
Funny thing I actualy got a shiny kyurem, it was my first hunt too and the best part I got it in like 20 restets! That was the luckyest I've been for a while back then.

I think it's funny that in USUM, you can chain Chansey near the area you find Stakataka and just grind easy shiny Chansey. Sure, Blissey also can spawn and be shiny, but we don't need to worry about her
Yep, I remember when I first played Pokemon Moon that I wanted a shiny Popplio for some reason so I spent so freaking long just trying to get that shiny before I could even play the game. I ended up getting it but man was it hard to distinguish normal Popplio between its shiny variant which made me extra nervous as not to mess up resetting the game on a shiny.
I think my personal king of shiny nightmares has to be shiny hunting for wynaut on _mirage island_
Remember this thing is not only dependent on your actual personality value, but if the personality value already breaks the shiny value, _there is no physical way you can find a shiny wynaut there_

My very first playthrough of Moon, I got a shiny Rowlet and had to do a double-take. I'd stayed very far away from spoliers that gen and thought for a second on the stats screen that it was normal coloring. Some of the wildest luck I've ever had.

PoGo makes shiny hunting extremely simple. Even without Community Days you can spawn them in the wild relatively easily; I've gotten two different shiny female Nidoran that way.
The one that took me the longest was my shiny lunala in the dynamax adventures. It took me literally 100 tries to get it plus more because of dumb teammates. The 2nd worst was me shiny hunting Flittle in gen 9, squinting for 2 hours to finally get one at the cost of a migraine.

At least shiny hunting febas in gen 3 isn't that hard since it has a 50% spawn rate when you finally find the tile.
Shiny hunting chansey in the safari zone though... I think a blown spleen is less painful.

you actually have to beat your rival for the first time and get the pokedex.
technically you don't ever have to go to the pokecentre but trust me.. i wish it was that fast...

I was going for regular feebas in shield, and I got shiny chewtle before one ever showed up
The shiny hunt that I believe to take the absolute longest will forever be the WILD legendary birds in let’s go, getting the soft reset ones is hard enough, but while flying there’s a 1/1000 chance zapdos, moltres, or articuno spawn, even worse is that lures and charm don’t improve your odds, which means to get a flying legendary bird randomly the odds would be 1/4096000
I hunted for the 1% Bagon encounter, just to start S.O.S. Chaining for a shiny Bagon. I got the Shiny Bagon, but never saw a Salamence. My brother named the Shiny Bagon, and his name is Mr. Bob. Also, this is another Shiny Pokémon that happened to be Male, and if I exclude Ultra Warp Ride and Pokémon Go, I haven’t found a Shiny Female Pokémon at all. Hopefully, that’ll change soon enough
