- A little peak into the art of shield fights. We have created a few scenes to present some intriquate techniques, and show the complexity of the stage combat shield assaults.
Big thanks to our master Peter Koza!

The point many may miss about this is the absolute trust these guys have in their training partners. Built over time with skill, and very impressive.
Those are choreography
@@alejandropaulos4079 For sure. And those blades are not sharp. But any misstep, any rythm change could lead to pain, broken bones and teeth or drawn blood anyway.
Seriously someone in Hollywood stunt advising on films like The Last Duel needs to hire these guys.
Hollywood is dead
Well done guys
I showed this to my 90 year old mother who was a fencing champion. She said it was the most accurate sheildplay she had seen
Also, your speed and accuracy from the camera angles is superb. I am once again gobsmacked
Hollywood style stunts, working too hard and too close to impress their crowds.
@@2adamast What part about these guys being fight choreographers doing fight choreography don't you understand?
I want to see a 13th Warrior remake with this crew as the stunt coordinators.
That would be enjoyable. I liked the 13th Warrior.
Or el Cid with Antonio Banderas in the cast
I liked the 13th Warrior. Good movie that included Arabic and Norse culture but without all the annoying woke-ness that is infesting cinema in the last 10 years.
I be down for that remake.
If they do, I think Eaters of the Dead is a better and more evocative title
Damn impressive stuff. Allowing yourself to get your face that close to a metal blade (blunt or not) moving that fast takes a lot of trust. Love your choreography.
Thanks for that! :)
That shield grapple and disarm at 0:38 was smooth as butter. Beautiful.
What amazing control and trust with each other!
Breathtaking show my friends
Always a treat to watch you guys train. Awesome as always.
THESE MEN ARE THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS.
Respect to them for the amount of control they have on themselves with those swords to not hurt their partner while display such techniques. Even if those are props which can still hurts too expecially the eyes.
I was going to say...at least eye protection recommended
Shields need more love. The only notable characters that use them in fantasy are Peter Pevensie (Narnia) and Link (Legend of Zelda). Wildly under appreciated medieval armament.
I had the same thought. One would think that in worlds full of swords and other melee weapons, not to mention bows/arrows, a shield would be quite valuable tool. The most recent shield-user that got any note from the public (that I'm aware of) was from an anime (Rising of the Shield Hero).
Shields and spears. 9/10 times theyre missing entirely and half the time theyre included theyre implemented horribly.
Its not strange at all, shields makes choreography for cinematography a lot harder. And I wouldnt say its rare to see shields in any medieval fantasy setting.
@@khurgar8120 By any chance, can you name one or two? I quite enjoy seeing shields in fantasy (though it's usually in books), so if you have some recommendations, that would be awesome.
@Aboc Stark that's one of the things I really appreciated about Gladiator, that Maximus was constantly using his shield as a weapon to great effect
Whoever has been telling the theatrical combat crowd that accurate shield use isn't telegenic enough... isn't good at it. GOT in particular, needed ADOREA!
That chokeslam at the end gained my sub
Finally a short sword sparring video I love it
Ahoj Adoreo!
I used to fence so maybe I'm biased but these sword fighting masters are the best thing on UA-cam! They really bring the martial art and physicality of our long gone ancestors to the modern era. Well done, gentlemen!
0:56 the sparks. This channel is so fucking good.
Best shield fighting I have ever seen in my life.
These guys still having ten digits and two eyes alone shows how professional they are at what they do
Shield to the front of the neck, inner thigh, or underarm after a quick parry is a game ender. I liked to see them being used to disarm. The osoto gari at the end with buckler combat was especially sweet.
That actially worried me as the throw at the end was also very dangerous since it looked like the nage did not have proper control of the uke's arm and almost ended up dropping him on his head into the mat less wooden floor.
I think one of the reasons Adorea Olomouc's fighting choreography looks so good and compelling isn't just that it has roots in more realistic techniques. But that it is an actual exchange. We have a lot of fighting scenes in cinema where the hero twirls their sword, parries, blocks and dodges every blow, and their opponents helplessly stand by to wait their turn to get killed.
But in these videos you see all combatants involved trade blows. Even when there's a clear protagonist, they take blows as well, they get their own strikes parried and have to deal with a back-and-forth, fighting an opponent rather than some goon where we already know that their proverbial script doesn't extend past a few pages. It's an actual fight that could go either way and you feel the franctic tension. Which is pivotal when you're doing choreography for cinema.
Oh yeah, shields getting some love.
Imagine seeing this kind of stuff in movies
Dear Hollywood Directors, PLEASE hire these guys (at any price) for any and every sword era combat scene in every movie set in that era for the foreseeable future.
Wow, choreographed or not - amazing techniques at an incredible speed and accuracy!
Man I can't wait to see movie choreographers making shit like this, it is awesome!! Also using a shield is like dual wielding.
The grappling, trapping and even the throws while deftly handling weapons were quite impressive. HEMA looks a lot more like Kali or Kung Fu in some cases than one might have thought (but at a high level of skill in Combat it inevitably would I now see). Great video.
I concur.
Reminds me of the proverb:
“ Many rivers from the same source flows”
@@Tom_Framnes Well said.
I've been told that Kali and Silat has taken many forms from medieval European fighting techniques.
Agree! Martial arts in medieval europe were very well developed, as we can see in original books
This would come in handy when riding in an NYC subway
You guys are amazing!
These guys are UNREAL!!! So awesome!
The control shown by each in going at this speed without hurting their partner is astounding. !bravissimo!
This is beautiful!!!
Amazing sword and buckler/shield form :)
man..... it is so amazing to see you guys! amazing job guys!
Great job!
That's some crazy battle work
That was so much fun to watch! Beautiful!!
Beautiful.
I would love to see this kind of sword fight choreography in movies.
I LOVE THIS GROUP!
ROCK ON!
0:39 was heckin amazing!
*LOVE IT! This is aggressive fighting techniques and extreme violence as it must be*
I need more of this.
Wow, that's a good work... 👏👏👏
this is just what Ive been looking for. Its so hard to see how shields are used agresively in combat out side of some stupid person trying to do a normal shield bash
Amazing! Greetings from Brazil.
Now this is amazing
Très bien ça restitue la violence des combat
awesome as allways
This was frigging epic!
The demo is well entertaining...love it...I had no idea could move like that with a shield.
Could not stop rewatching that trick at 0:40. So clean.
Always intense...
Très impressionnant, bravo !
Хореография бодрая, надеюсь чаще видеть такой уровень на экранах
Fantastic!
Best representation of shield fighting ever. You guys need to be doing the choreography for all period action movies
Words can not express how much I love this and wish there were more of this in the USA.
So badass!
i will definitely watch your content man, this is so really badass
Amazing stuff!
Top class!
Very intense! It feels like you all have the skills to kill if wanted. Nice work on the camera too.
Well done!
Very cool!
Svaka cast!
Man that was brutal.
This video is badass.
Amazing work ! A martial art movie in medieval Time would be amazing
the last one was frightning. he could kill the man when hit the floor with his head and full body weight comes on it.
Terrific!😲👏🏻😲
Awesome.
Fantastici, bravissimi...complimenti adrenalina pura💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
You guys do crazy stuff. Coolest I’ve ever seen XD
Watch it twice! Half speed to appreciate the techniques and full speed to appreciate the intensity :) Well done!
Просто красавцы, динамично, агрессивно, очень понравилось ))) Снимите свой средневековый Escape from Tarkov/Raid, зайдет на Ура
Awesome
Bravi 👏👏👏👏 siete spettacolari
If the fantasy comic I’m making ever takes off and is popular enough to get a live adaptation I want Adorea as stunt and fight scene coordinators. These guys are proof historical techniques can be cinematic!
Especially this exchange 1:13 who thought realistic, practical sword fighting couldn't be flashy?
thank you
the camera work was on point too, even if its not realistic looks super cool, good stuff
Absolutely fantastic! Would love to see some viking shield techniques sometime too.
very inspiring
Cool video
Bravo j adore 👍👍👍
Как всегда 👏 !
Лучшие))
VERY nice
Looks like a great way to lose an eye. You folks must really trust one another! ;)
You rock!
woooow nice!
i cant wait to duel people at the supermarket now
Well, that was fun.
I wish I had access to a fight club like that! but for now I will just keep making swords and practice alone
My eyes were gouged out just from watching this video...
Love it)
"Speed is more important than strength" - Rakharo's dad
1:30 If you say so.
Cool video and great fighting. I hope that something like this would be shown in movies instead of over the top jumping attacks.
Despite me thinking that in real fight most of the time would be spent waiting behind your shield
Oh! You’re the guys who made that long sword short film!
It really is exceptional. I wonder if it might be easier to read with less camera movement and longer reactions on the wounding strikes. Just a thought. Best historical based choreography I’ve ever seen.
