Lily for me! This was SOO fun to watch. The stressed singing was especially great! Next video: They switch places! Lily + Elementor vs Meg + Gutenberg!!
Lily gets my vote. With that being said, this video would be great to send to the WordPress and Elementor Teams so they can see how unintuitive the products are for beginners. Maybe they can see how to make their products better for new users without experience. For devs and people with experience using both products it's not a big deal to learn our way around. For new users, it's obviously a whole different story.
That was great. Lily wins for me (sorry Meg!). Would love to see the challenge reversed now same page design, switch tools? And at the end each has to tell an embarrassing secret about Dad for bonus fiver.
Fun video! I was surprised how NOT intuitive Elementor was compared to Gutenberg. I think they both did a great job with what they had to work with. Come on Pop, give 'em both a twenty!
Oh, that was painful to watch. I keep hearing that song “it costs that much because it takes me f’ing hours” play in the back of my head. 🤣 Except now I have to go do this and time myself.
Like other people who have commented here, I expected Elementor to be far and away the easiest, and Im surprised (shhhhhh and delighted) it wasn't. Also I shouting at the screen - The list view....- use the list view! I have to say that far and away Lily and Gutenberg nailed it. Well done Lily!! But Meg..... you did far better than me when I first tried Elementor. So well done to you too!!
This was fun to watch - just shows how frustrating it can be when you don't know what to do - for me Lily's creation was nearest to the brief with the about me boxes etc - but hey give them £10 each for great efforts! 😄
This is a great challenge… the UX pressure testing with the ‘uninitiated’ is a good litmus to how intuitive a UI is. Both have flaws but I think Gutenberg seemed easier to use and resulted in better page. I’ve struggled with both in past, think they’re not all they’re cracked up to be ie super intuitive. Could try swapping on the next test 😉. But fair shout to being in this test in a public arena. Hopefully the developers will see this and take notes.
I so enjoyed watching this. Lily met the brief but I think they both deserve to split the money, especially when they’ve never used WordPress before. It helps me understand the pain points new users experience some of which I can relate to.
Next need to swap them and have them do the same thing with the opposite system and have them say which they preferred. Don't know if gutenberg is that much more intuitive or just difference in their thought processes. I couldn't stand elementor myself and use oxygen though I'd rather code by hand. I'm curious what goes into a FSE "theme" vs a blank theme as they use blocks for everything
LILY. I thought elementor might win because everyone on the reddit says that it's UX more intuitive. Maybe true for the pros but not for beginners. Elementor is like Photoshop nowadays, powerful but you need to learn a lot to make use of those features. My first experience with elementor was also like this and I found Gutenberg to be better.
This is so interesting-a lot of insights from a fun-filled challenge. My vote also goes to Lily. But as suggested by most people here, they deserve a chance to switch the editors and try it again.
I am teaching my 21 y/o daughter (who is also named Meg) to use WP and Elementor. I feel their/your pain right now haha. LOVE THIS SO MUCH. Well done both of you. I'm not picking sides. :)
Your daughters are charming! Of course it would be fun to see more of them. I have always thought Elementer was not intuitive for beginners - thank you for agreeing with me, Meg! Absolutely BOTH girls deserve 20 pounds. Lily's page was better but hey, she had was in a better tool now. Great video!
because of the time frame id say a draw. lilly's looks better only because she got farther. so if i have to choose lilly. i like flipping the challenge. 1 video. final challenge - something like a 3 day time limit. each choose what to use after using each. 1 video for each website and one to compare.. = 3 videos. also up the pay, dont be cheap
Loved this! So interesting watching them try to figure it out. I think they're both winners 🤗 (I know that's not helpful, but I'm a mom and they tried which is what matters most)
Well, that was a surprise. I would have thought Elementor would be more intuitive for someone who has never used Wordpress before, but Lily seemed to get there faster using Gutenberg. Sorry Meg but Lily FTW.
@@jamiewp I had to giggle a few times because I found myself pointing at the screen and "yelling" at Meg to click here or click there... no just up a bit, no... it's the other one. Poor meg, just as well she couldn't hear or see this headset crusader in the background 🙂 Don't mind me, I'm still recovering from watching Rafa win the AU Open last night.
Lily. But it was close. I was very surprised. I used both E & G, and as a designer G is soooo frustraiting and E much more intuative. This was a fun and useful experiment. Thank you Meg and Lily for being awesome!
@@HullioGQ From your perspective; my idea fits socialism (which is not) and does not support innovation because it is a competition. However; from my perspective, it is an "investment". Distribute the risks. In long run, my strategy always wins. Economics 101 :)))
Lily by a short head ... Congrats to Lily and Meg, both chips of the Old Block obviously How about a video of them working together on a task? Are two heads better than one? Would it be quicker than working separately? Do you have enough daughters to try that out ? Comment: Neither design package seemed to be intuitive to either of them ... perhaps help schemes should be pictorial cartoons like IKEA furniture?
Lily is so good, Actually I am very encouraged. Because both of these girls are what 20 something and they’re talking to themselves constantly. So it’s not just me.
@@jamiewp Yes I’m sure there was quite a bit of editing it was well done. I was giggling all the way through because I thought oh great I’m not the only one who talks to myself. They were very very polite they did not use all the words that I use when I cursing out my computer. 😂
Lily had Gutenberg which is easier (especially if you add a couple of Gutenberg plugins). I think Elementor has too many options and can be overwhelming.
To define it from the point of view of a long-time user of Elementor and almost expert: The girl doesn't seem to be well prepared and lacks information or a deeper understanding of how to work with Elementor. Just like with Gutenberg, it is necessary to strive for enough know how to work with Elementor. I would have achieved the result with both tools in almost the same time and identical layout.
Lily's is the best, but they should both get a prize for the pain they endured.
Lily for me! This was SOO fun to watch. The stressed singing was especially great!
Next video: They switch places! Lily + Elementor vs Meg + Gutenberg!!
That's a great idea 👍
Lily with Gutenberg! Both girls were charming and deserve the £20 each. I know exactly how they felt. This was a great video presentation!
Lily gets my vote.

Thanks Chas - 100% agree

Had to come back and watch again 🤣. Meg was so sure she was gonna win but the rest is history 😂😂
Oh, that was painful to watch. I keep hearing that song “it costs that much because it takes me f’ing hours” play in the back of my head. 🤣 Except now I have to go do this and time myself.
he he - that's a great idea for a video actually 🤔
Lily, sure😀 Nice format to show the difference between Gutenberg and Elementor. And thanks for your videos, always well done and informative.
Thanks Reiner 👍
Love Blcok Editor and Lily ~

CLICK ON THE LIST VIEW 😂
I would say reward them both for trying their best
Lily, love the idea of using default editor.
LILY! Was interesting to see beginners using both tools. Found myself wanting to shout: “USE THE LIST VIEW!” 👍🤣
he he , yup it's hard not to shout at the screen 😀
This was fun to watch - just shows how frustrating it can be when you don't know what to do - for me Lily's creation was nearest to the brief with the about me boxes etc - but hey give them £10 each for great efforts! 😄
Thanks Lee, Meg will be happy with that
Great video, I hope the "experts" at Wordpress towers view this to get an idea of how most of us experience this software..
Thanks Richard - i sent it over to them 😉
Hilarious video. The both did a good job but Lily is the winner!
This is a great challenge… the UX pressure testing with the ‘uninitiated’ is a good litmus to how intuitive a UI is. Hi Darron, it's a great idea to swap for the next video - i'd really like to throw Divi at them at some point and see how they get on with that. 😉
Lily's page looked the best!
I so enjoyed watching this. Lily met the brief but I think they both deserve to split the money, especially when they’ve never used WordPress before. It helps me understand the pain points new users experience some of which I can relate to.
If Lily was able to use Gutenberg then what is stopping me from using it? Lily all the way 😀
Exactly Joy 😀
Next need to swap them and have them do the same thing with the opposite system and have them say which they preferred. Don't know if gutenberg is that much more intuitive or just difference in their thought processes.

Lily. Hope we see more of these - really enjoyed it :)
Thanks James 😀
Lily, though as many said there was not a lot in it and I feel their pain. Great sports both of them!
Hi, yes i really like your photoshop analogy - 100% agree
Thank you dear Jamie - thank you so much! This is a great idea to do such a video: As useful as usual! Keep inspiring us.
BTW . Lily for mee too!!
This is so interesting-a lot of insights from a fun-filled challenge.
My vote also goes to Lily. But as suggested by most people here, they deserve a chance to switch the editors and try it again.
Thanks Aravind, yes i think we'll have to have a rematch (might also throw Divi in there at some point)
I have tears of joy watching this. Just such a Marsland fest!
Thanks A 🙏
Lily This was one of your best videos - so fun!
Lily's page. This is what is taught in the book Don't Make Me Think. The best way to provide good UX. I am all for new videos like this.
I have that book 😀
I am teaching my 21 y/o daughter (who is also named Meg) to use WP and Elementor. I feel their/your pain right now haha. LOVE THIS SO MUCH. Well done both of you. I'm not picking sides. :)
Megs and Lily say thank you Keirsten 😀 Meg is a great name!

Thanks Kristin - Megs and Lily say thank you 🙏
This video is brilliant! Please do Webflow vs Gutenberg. I’d love to show the difference to clients.
thanks, and that's a great idea :)
Lily for sure! But Meg needs to be compensated for having to work with Elementor really
because of the time frame id say a draw. lilly's looks better only because she got farther. so if i have to choose lilly.

Lily of course !! Gutenber is BETTER for work !
I had a feeling this would be a fun watch. Not disappointed lol! Gutenburg(lily) for the win!
Loved this! So interesting watching them try to figure it out. I think they're both winners 🤗 (I know that's not helpful, but I'm a mom and they tried which is what matters most)
tks Miriam - very diplomatic 😀
Lilly/Gutenberg is the winner!
Well, that was a surprise. I would have thought Elementor would be more intuitive for someone who has never used Wordpress before, but Lily seemed to get there faster using Gutenberg. Sorry Meg but Lily FTW.
Thanks for the vote Mark - Lily is very happy at the moment (but it's early days)

Lily FTW.
Also: at £20 this is the best-value UX testing I've ever seen.
thanks Dan, we might do a re-match 😀
Lily done great work!
They both deserved 20Pounds each. Instead of gaining one future wordpresser, you can gain two by distributing 20Pounds each. Encourage them:))👌👌
That is socialism and does not foster competition - leading to a lack of innovation!

Congrats to both but Lily won.

Actually there was quite a bit of singing as well (and rapping) which due to time i had to cut 🙃

Both did a good job, but just Lily I think. Lessons there for all of us though.
Both worked so hard, the prize should be shared equaly.
Guess, we need a lot more tutorials to teach users how to create stunning websites.
tks 🙏 Meg will be pleased (she's not getting many (any) votes)
Well done to both girls, but it's Lily for me! [Keith]
thanks Keith - Meg not happy but she's accepted the results so far.
Really interesting to see people using these for the first time. Has to be Lily for me, sorry Meg :-)
I have to vote for Lily…but Meg did a great job too…so give them both 20 pounds!
+1 for Lily!
Lily's came out better. It does show how difficult it is to use a tool one is not familiar with.
what a good video lmao i love it
thank you 🙏
Lily for sure.
Not fair. You new which one was smarter :D
LMAO! are these the block news singers? great video ;)
yes they are :)
Lily's my winner :)
This is proof that page builders are not easier. It's more complex than Gutenberg.
Lily had Gutenberg which is easier (especially if you add a couple of Gutenberg plugins). I think Elementor has too many options and can be overwhelming.
lily
Lil, £20 yours!!
Lily!
Lily!!!
Lily's page (sorry Meg!)
