    Simple labs in this video, but I found them to be very helpful for review. Thank you! I appreciated you pointing out how to jump the cursor to the beginning of the line and how to use the VTP password feature. In your lab we can give ourselves two additional challenges: (1) add a router and set up ROAS with Switch 2, configure everything so all PCs can ping one another; (2) delete the router and Switch 2 and add a layer-3 switch, configure it so all PCs can ping one another. This brings together in one lab much of what you taught us so far about VLANs.

    Thank u once again for the course Mr. Jeremy
    kindly help me by correcting my below statement if i am wrong:
    1. i cannot make the inter vlan pinging as the switchs used in day 19 lab are Layer 2 switch?
    2. all layer 2 switches cannot become Layer 3 switches but the vice versa is possible.
    3. VTP is mainly used to communicate the vlan-list across the connected switches and it is enabled by default wherever a trunk connection between switches exists.
    Thank you sir.

    • @JeremysITLab
      @JeremysITLab  4 роки тому +5

      1. You're correct, in this lab you can't perform inter-VLAN routing (this isn't a complete network, just a demonstration of DTP/VTP).
      2. 'Layer 2 switch' and 'Layer 3 switch' describe the capabilities of the device. A Layer 3 switch is just a Layer 2 switch with some additional routing (Layer 3) capabilities.
      3. Correct!

    • @JeremysITLab
      @JeremysITLab  3 роки тому +1

      That's right, in this lab no device is configured to route between the subnets/VLANs, so it's expected that they won't be able to ping each other.
      In fact, the PCs are in different subnets, so even if they are all in the same VLAN, PCs should only be able to ping other PCs in the same subnet.

    Hi Jeremy small doubt, actually when we connect 2 switches we should use cross-over cable right, but u used straight through cable. So is it okay if we connect via straight through cable?

    I am unable to ping pcs in different vlans after trying the configurations twice. Is there something i may have missed? can ping pc3 across the switches no problem, but cant ping vlan 20 hosts from vlan1 on sw1

    • @JeremysITLab
      @JeremysITLab  4 роки тому

      You'd need to configure some kind of inter-VLAN routing for the PCs to ping PCs in other VLANs, either using a router or multilayer switch.

    Why is it that it's possible write commands in shortcut in Cisco but not in Boson NetSim?

    Does it have issue with packet tracer? When I changed the domain of SW2 to different one in transparent mode, and added a new vlan on SW1, the SW3 still able to synchronize its database with SW1's.

    One issue here. When all switches are set as vtp servers, adding VLANS is advertised on all switches correctly. But when I remove a VLAN from SW1, advertisement reaches only SW2, but it is not forwarded to SW3. Same, when I remove VLAN on SW3, advertisement reaches SW2, but won't be forwarded do SW1. But when I remove a VLAN on SW2, advertisement reaches both SW1 and SW3 and VLAN is deleted. It seems like removing VLAN advertisement reaches only directly connected neighbours. Adding VLANs works well. What could be the reason?

    I know I am kinda late. I have been following this course for a week and a half now. Have the series finished with the ccna 200-301 material or do I still need other resources for topics that haven’t been covered up till today’s date?

    one questions about VTP domain name on this lab
    When i switched domain name from CCNA to CISCO but with transparent mode on SW2. at this point, if i made any change, SW 3 would not get affected as SW2 is under transparent mode with different domain name . but when i added vlan 70 on switch 1, SW 3 also showed Vlan 70.. anyone can explain this?

    great vid!! So, i bought the Boson prep exam & went thru the first exam. Holy crap !!! there is alot of topics never covered in the online courses.......is that normal ?? how do i handle that??

    • @JeremysITLab
      @JeremysITLab  4 роки тому +1

      I had the same experience when I took my first Boson exam for my CCNA. I failed it miserably! Make sure you read all of their explanations, take note of which topics you don't know, and do some research to learn about them. Boson's exams include some things which aren't in the exam topics list, but if it's in ExSim they put it there for a reason (they do their own research by taking the real exam to see what topics are on it), so it's probably worth studying all of the topics you find in ExSim.
      Just curious, which online courses did you take? (except mine, mine isn't finished so there are many topics I haven't covered yet)

      @@JeremysITLab I bought 3,
      Neil Anderson's Udemy & Flackbox courses. David Bombal Udemy CCNA course. Again, Neil's is straight forward good content, labs suck. David is more in depth great content, better labs. Still like your labs the best. David has a new lab course on Udemy, with 70+ hrs, think I'll buy. You recommended Ultimate Packet Tracer in the past & now you reccomend ExSim. Is it really that much better than packet tracer ???

    • @JeremysITLab
      @JeremysITLab  4 роки тому +1

      @@kelecortez5834 I recommend both! Bombal's labs are super cheap and honestly good enough practice for the CCNA. NetSim is quite a bit more expensive, so for people who can't spare much money (the exam itself is already quite expensive), I'd say its not necessary. BUT if you have extra cash to spare, it is absolutely worth it, it will really expand your knowledge and confidence. I have more experience with NetSim for CCNP (I used NetSim almost exclusively when labbing for my CCNP, with just a little bit of GNS3), but NetSim for CCNA is just as good.

    I was playing with the lab, and am trying to re-enable negotiation on DTP trunk ports. However, when I apply "switchport mode dynamic desireable", it says "Command Rejected: Conflict between 'nonegotiate' and 'dynamic' status."
    How do I re-enable DTP negotiation?
