Thanks for picking up trash. You care! You also should consider buying a new sleeping pad. I agree with you…love a good bear box! Keep the videos coming. Enjoy these immensely!
Sorry it’s not working out with Turtle Team, but best of luck finding a new family! I always look forward to your videos every Saturday, and I truly appreciate your love and knowledge of nature. I’m curious, are you planning to backtrack back to Damascus for Trail Days in a week?
Great video as usual! When I stayed at the Madison Springs Hut in the Whites, the croo woke us up by reciting "Oh the places you'll go".... Always good to see Dr Seuss represented on the trail. Thanks for sharing.
I'm glad to see your knees are feeling better and your legs motoring on and feeling that good vibe of being on the trail. The mountains and woods are so peaceful and healing to the soul. And it's good to take some days off, rest up, and see family. Really builds your spirits, and yes, you hike your own hike no matter what!... And I really like your videos, and thanks for identifying for me the Cancer Root. I see that here in western N.C. every spring and saw it sprouting here about 5 weeks ago and Googled it and see native Americans used it for a wide variety of medicinal uses. Pretty cool!!! Thanks for taking us along on your journey northward. Happy safe hiking to you 👣💚✌️🍀👣🌄
Tom checking in with you. You have finished the trail . Your vlogs are full of information about the wildlife ( birds mostly ) and vegetation & an openness to talk about your very personal emotions and trail commitment to being. Thru Hiker in the AT. All really quite wonderful. Did you have apps on your phone to identify birds & vegetation? How are you doing post trail? As I have said, I’m strongly leaning to an attempt at thru hiking or section hiking (being 71) & have nog been overly athletic in my retirement so far. Open advice is welcome . ❤😊
HAHAHAHA..........the attitude is there, the smiles and laughter is there, the calmness is there and you are still in your bag at 10am. You are a Thru Hiker! You got this, just keep your head in the game! Tramilies will show up, not to worry and loneliness on the trail is a real thing but you are handling it the right way. Everything will fall into place. Trust your instincts and just keep smiling. geek
I'm wondering how you feel about people leaving trail magic unattended in the woods? I have left water, and returned to remove any empties, but I would never leave food. I am sure you would have mixed feelings about it as a hiker, food looks good even when it violates LNT. :)
Thank you for asking! For things that do not smell like water and toilet paper, I think what you did is great. Food should not be left unattended. I passed trail magic today where the landowner put it out each morning and collects it each evening, and even that had been raided by bears twice.
You've been on an amazing journey both physically and emotionally. It's been a pleasure watching you strengthen and grow. I love that feeling of a full pack. 😊 May your heart also remain filled. You're doing so well out there. You have what it takes to finish. The trail needs people like you. ✌️
Once again a fabulous video!. So much information and expression of appreciation for everything around you. You have amazing capacity to roll with the punches. Wonderful!
I really enjoyed todays video! You are doing so much better. Have tons of confidence in yourself and your hike! 😊😊 So glad to see a young person cleaning up someone else’s trash. 😫 you look great! Take care and enjoy every step of the way! 👏👏👏👏 watch out for those bears! 🐻🏕️🧗♀️🥾❤️ & Hike on.
Here is some more food for thought. If you are looking for a trail-family, a faster or slower pace possibly zeros) will expose you to more people and help you "shop" for a new one. I am not sure how quickly you get "good vibes - but a day or two with a group and then going faster or slower to find the next group. I always love your appreciation for nature. It is why I like your content. I strongly support HYOH.
You rock TC! I've been a fan since I first saw you dehydrating food. Shame the turtle gang isn't working out - for now anyway. There's absolutely a reason though. You are exactly where you need to be. Looking forward to more videos. Looks so fun.
Going slower allows you to see so much more. Doing big miles daily is impressive but theres something to be said for going slower to enjoy nature and being in it.Keep doing what you need daily so you can finish trail.
Good to see that your taking time to relax. Your doing really well. Making good progress and memories. Keep going and keep that positive attitude. Your inspiration is infectious.
About a month ago, I was hiking and found a BUNCH of gear. I packed it out and asked around and found the owner. When I first found it I was rather outraged that someone would just dump their gear. When I learned the true story, the owner had fallen into an icy river and had to drop wet clothes and soaked sleeping bag. He came and got his gear from me and gave me a finders fee (I didn't ask but he insisted) for lugging out his heavy gear. So I learned the lesson to not judge folks for Leave No Trace faux pas, until you learn the full story. Though I DOUBT there was a good reason for leaving that trash for sure.
Thanks for picking up trash. You care!

Great stay in Damascus and you connected with a group. Maybe it will work out. If not, more people will come. You're doing fantastic. 😊
Thank you!!
You're not alone, we're with you. 5,000 of us.
I can’t tell you how much I enjoy Saturday mornings watching your videos. Thanks for sharing your adventures!
Thanks, Shelley!
So upbeat! Happiest yet. It’s good to go on ahead. Finding your way! Walk on!

Great change of plan !! Enjoy your journey !
A bear- so amazing!!!
We call that plant you mentioned Squaw Root in the South. It grows around Oak trees.
I’ve heard it called that also!
Thank you for sharing a very nice video with us and keep up the great work 👍🏻
The vortex was huge in 95 not many hostels then. That's awesome! Your doing great!

An idea for when you're feeling lonely,
Maybe doing a live interactive post with us, (your fans / followers).✌️

How much would you estimate a full pack for you weighs? Thanks as always for sharing your trail experience!
I think mine fully packed with 5 days of food and 2 liters of water is right at 30lbs. Weight and gear choices differ for everyone.

From the sections I have done in Tennessee and Virginia on the AT, Virginia is definitely my favorite. Did you use any apps while on the trail?
I used the FarOut (Guthooks) app every single day.
@@appalachianadventurista that’s the app that I just downloaded and bought the at trail. I wish I could have had it before now

You rock for packing out the trash and the nasty socks! Id have put the socks in the fire ring and gotten the plastic.
:)
How do you like not working?😁
Can’t complain 😅
