Hi Naitika, Let me give you an example, Patliputra (Present day Patna), had remained capital of multiple Dynasties like Nanda, Maurya etc, however it doesn't mean that during archeological excavation if we find something, it belongs to that era. When we study Ancient Indian History, you must keep in mind the word "may be", so until it gets confirmed or published, we have to assume that may be they didn't know.
