Hello everyone! Its been super busy lately in the headlight restoration world! This restoration was very easy, no microcracking, no excessive oxidation or intact clear coat, just a simple thin layer of oxidation. I'm so happy it was easy, because this customer was only available after 2:00 pm, the hottest time during the day. We typically don't schedule vehicles after 12:00pm for this reason. I start with a 400 grit to remove the oxidation, then finished with the 600 grit before applying the UV clear coat.

Hi Brad , I just did a Subaru Ofcourse took me 1 1/2 hours. What is the lowest outside temperature that you feel comfortable spraying your Nextgen spray ? I’m in upstate NY and last couple of days it’s only went up to mid 50s

Hi Tom! Practice makes perfect, I'm sur you'll get those times down. I've sprayed in as low as 40 degrees in direct heat and didn't have any issues. While the manufactured recommends spraying temp is 50+ degrees fahrenheit, I've had success spraying in lower temps, with the expectation of possibly having to redo the lens in the future. I explained to the customer as well, and fortunately everything was great after following up a few weeks after the job.

Hey Brad, I was wondering if I have a new headlights would I be able to spray your coating as a protection or would it not bond unless it sanded down with the 600 grit?

Hi Hub City Hiker, it bonds best when sprayed at the 600 grit. I have sprayed it over clear headlights and always get mixed results. Some headlights cause the clear coat to droplet up, and some lay on the headlight perfectly.
