Dan Dan Sugarman, jammin' out on his Music Man. Plays guitar in his band, bangs his head as hard as he can. Great pick attack in ABRBlack, shreds so fast he'll give you a heart attack.
Nice video, i thought we'd see some covers or tabs since this but still nothing guess i'll have to fix this myself x) ! Anyway thanks a lot keep rockin homies.
Great guitarist, great band. Hoping to see them in Austin, TX in March at South By SoWhat.. I don't know how he does those pinch harmonics so well.. I use 3 fingers to hold my pick (habit) and I can only pinch when I force my thumbnail to simultaneously hit the string with about 1mm of the pick exposed (which is time consuming). Anyone have any tips how to play to speed and get those harmonics out?
Eric Kleihege yooo thanks for the kind words dude! I would love to help you out with your pinch harmonics and anything else you're having trouble with dude - hit me up at dansugarmanlessons@gmail.com
This was sick as fuck, wish you guys would tour through Portland. I would stop at nothing to go to that show. By the way, are you self taught or did you learn from a teacher? Also, I know the answer is probably no, but would you ever consider taking on a student? Online lessons with you would make my life, I love your technique.
I've really been trying to learn the distortion section of Before The Break Of Dawn. I have the intro down, but there's absolutely nothing lesson or tab wise on the distortion and I'm not at the level were I can learn songs by ear yet.
+Austin Layman yoo dude! I would love to link up for some lessons man - I actually do give lessons full time besides all my projects and recording, so of course it's something I would be honored to do with you Austin... contact me at dansugarmanlesson@gmail.com or facebook.com/dansugarman my dude! you rule.
+Josue S. Rodarte you mean like we do every night on tour when we play this song live? I'm not sure why you're challenging me here my brother lol this is a song I wrote, recorded, and have performed live (with an amplifier, a guitar pick, and just me and my skills) in front of countless people a countless number of times... In fact, I know you'll be able to find at least 20 live videos of me playing this exact song. The thing you're asking to hear and see me do is a live performance, which you can absolutely experience if you come to a show, or look up a live performance of this song. But that is not what THIS video is... This video is a guitar play through my dude ;) I hope that clears some things up for you.. But if you're challenging me to say that I'm not good enough to play this song or something? That's something else entirely lol
I think they need to re adjust their equalization.. there's parts of the guitar work that you can tell they put a decent amount of thought into.. that I literally cannot hear at all
+Rene Meijer lolz a piece that was buried in the mix - definitely not stoked on it... but if you watch any live performances, it's definitely there mah dude
I don't know what the fuck people are talking about they can't hear you. I hear every note. I've been playing for 15 years though and I am listening to this on loud ass Klipsch speakers.
hightimes withseagore man... i might be wrong but i think this is actually the track itself... and what happened with the old fashion style... plug in and play? what happened to metal? in my mind this is PLAYBACK
Chirciu Remus oh trust me, I agree 100% I wish bands did playthroughs with a raw track instead of a backtrack or dub :( sadly it seems no one does this
hightimes withseagore if you guys know of a legit studio in Bogota, Columbia that could have come to my hotel room on our off day of touring to set up and track and mix and master - then absolutely guys, lets do that. But if we want to be realistic here - this is what the standard of a playthrough video is. Yes, I am playing through the song I wrote, and yes I am playing exactly what's played. No, the audio coming through your speakers is not live audio, it's the audio of our CD (which I recorded... so what's the difference?). if you want the live feel, then get your butts to one of our shows! To keep myself entertained and thinking on my toes, I improvise all of my solos in our live set, so if you want to know what "live music" is, come to that. This video right here, this is media content. Come to a concert dudes! I'll put you both on our guest list
Dan Sugarman i appreciate it dude... but as a bedroom guitarist myself... i don t think it s hard to plug in ur guitar in an amp and just play over ur track... i know the quality is not amazing but beats this "playback" thing u did here... my opinion at least... and about that offer with the guest list... hahaaaa i ll love that... when u ll come to Romania (that s in Europe btw) i ll might take u up with that offer i would love meeting u guys... long time fan here.... posted a cover of in dying days 5-6 years ago :))

+Dan Sugarman when they will be ready?I really want to play this song !!!! Love your music bro
Dan Sugarman boy it’s been 3 years where they at?
it would be better if Dan play the song alone or just with the song in the backingtrack:(
But i love this song *-*
+Josue S. Rodarte well, then you can just listen to the song, because thats exactly what it is? me playing? lol
+Dan Sugarman // Centersun I dare you to play it without any backintrack just you, an amplifie, your guitar pick and your skill... how about that?

maybe next time u can plug in your guitar...
He tracks the guitar, then plays what he did in a more desirable place to show what he does. Lots of guitarists do this dude.
