It is indeed full of magic Antonio. You probably could swim in the water but I have never tried. There are also some waterfalls up there that might be good for swimming
Another great one Karl. Love hearing your conversations in Thai. I pick out a few words, but not much!...Shame the elephants didn't make an appearance. Cycling would appeal to me as well.
Hi Karl, great to see videos flowing again. Perfect way to finish the weekend. I wish when I visited I had time to see more and do these activities, I’m always cramming everything into 2-3 weeks.
Cheers Marcus, I must admit that it would be very hard for people to do some of the things that I do if they only had a few weeks here. Glad it helped end your weekend well
Unfortunately we couldn’t make it but Wan, the guy who was attacked had another baby the other day which was a nice surprise. I’m sure that we will go back there at some point
Easier? We walked 32 kilometres that day lol. It was all on flat ground though. I don’t know if you saw my previous video? That features the hike up the mountain. Thanks for your comment
Great video! We're considering going to Thailand this winter and wondering about the burning season. Is it hazy on this hike due to smoke or just misty? Thanks!
You’re usually ok in the cool Season here until about February…December and January are usually fine. I’m not very sensitive to it and don’t notice much except it can be a bit misty.
Splendid video and shots Karl. You're right - the New Forest or even somewhere like Ashdown Forest in places... Oh and it was great spending a couple of days in your company and others this weekend! Was brilliantly chilled... :)
Cheers Jason. Although seemed a lot less strenuous than conveyed in the previous video of the ascent we covered over 30 kilometres this day even if it was on flat ground. Glad you could see the likeness to the UK woodland too and it was great to meet you all last weekend.
Getting to Phu Kradueng is easy. If you’re in Bangkok book a bus to Loei and tell them you want to get off at Pha Nok Khao, the bus companies are used to this. They will drop you off at the exact place I filmed the monks on my video about the ascent. The buses usually arrive very early in the morning but there is a big restaurant place that opens very early to accommodate this. Then you wait for maybe an hour or two and the songthaew drivers will arrive. You can either travel the last 15 km or so in them cheaply with a group or pay a couple of hundred Baht to hire one privately. Amongst Thais is a well beaten route to the NP Headquarters and very easy to accomplish.
Definitely a place I'm interested in going to thanks to your great tour Karl. Nice graphics too tracking your progress. I wonder if Park Rangers track the elephants ? I would guess they never get too far from water supplies but it would be interesting hearing from an expert about their migrations and life in general. I would hope they check on them to offer assistance if they get injured and such.
Elephants are pretty well protected here in Thailand these days though I don’t know much about them on Phu Kradueng. There is plenty of land on the plateau that is not used for tourism so so isn’t much need for man and elephants to meet very often
doesn’t really make sense. after your long difficult hike up to the top, you can then ride a cycle to the different cliffs vantage points. how the heck did they get cycles up there? maybe a long steep windy road takes you to the same spot.
I think almost everything is carried up there Donald although possibly in pieces. I guess a helicopter could take some things if it was important enough but don’t go looking for that road up there because it absolutely doesn’t exist.
thought you’d appreciate the accomplishment of youtube bro paddy conquering philippines mt apo. you would understand his final comment, not to film the descent off the top. his knees were killing him, an unpleasant point not worth sharing that.
Yes, I’m happy for him. Actually Paddy told me about his mountain plans in the Philippines personally when I featured in his Pattaya video last year, before he went to Vietnam . I would certainly travel to a lot more locations if my channel was successful enough to allow it and I did a lot of travel in Thailand and Asia before I started ‘Karl’s Thailand’ but all I have is my old pictures, there was no real Internet when I did most of it. One of the smartest things Paddy did was take his existing UA-cam experience and launch his Thailand trip as a concise idea (visit every Province) and get everyone on board with his mission beforehand. When we met he was surprised that I had also travelled to every Province and my ‘last’ Province was also Phuket in 2002 but it only became a mission to ‘tick them all off’ when I realised there were only 5 or 6 left to visit. My reasoning for not filming the hike down was that it’s likely to be boring but sometimes I would consider it if it brought something new to the occasion like a different route or very different conditions.
The best Thailand you-tuber out there by a mile.
Thanks so much Andrew, if only UA-cam saw it the same way lol
Another excellent video. Thank you Karl. 🙏

Cheers Mark. Yes, if those elephants had shown themselves it would have added an extra dimension to the video. Thanks for the feedback

Nice one Karl (and Michael), thanks for the adventure. Did you go to the hilltribe village for xmas? Did you make a video? cheers from Yorkshire!
Unfortunately we couldn’t make it but Wan, the guy who was attacked had another baby the other day which was a nice surprise. I’m sure that we will go back there at some point
brilliant as of all your vids karl . kenny b nottingham
Thanks Kenny
2bad I missed the sunrise. It rained the nite b4 & the whole mountain top was covered in thick fog.
Yes, we didn’t get much of a view either tbh. When it rains on Phu Kradueng things change fast!
Very nice and looked a lot easier than your normal hikes.

How far is this located from the capital city and is there any public transportation near the park?
