He almost went to jail just to keep his friends safe. Let that sink in, even though it would help his case Clay refused to tell anyone what happened to Tyler because Tyler didn't want his story out.

Omg I love 13 Reasons Why!!! My favorite character is Tony or Clay. I love tony because he is always by Clays side no matter what! Even when Clay slapped Tony they were still friends. I love Clay because he did not want Sky to turn out like Hannah! In season 2 Sky told Clay to leave and he didn’t because when Hannah told Clay to leave he did and she killed herself!! So yaaa!!
Hannah wasn't the one who suffered. Clay suffered the most coz his best friend Jeff died, his love Hannah Baker left but he still decided to live, to suffer and to fight for her coz that's what true love is. When you love someone, you just take care that nothing wrong happens to them or about them no matter they are with you or not.
One thing that makes me mad is how much hate this show got, because it really showed us the truth. Shows talk about suicide and mental illness but never to this extent and it was good they did. Also third season one of my favorites showing the change that every character had made which you also don’t see a lot in shows. But the show got hate for showing the truth on things and we jsut wanna cover it up and make it all seem bad and offensive now a days when it’s good. This show helped me see the signs of suicide and depression when school didn’t even do that much for me and my classmates.
