  • Finally added a proper dust extraction solution, replacing the old vacuum cleaner. Mounted above my router table on a new folding shelf to save space. This video gives a quick overview of the machine, and a quick test of its power take-off function in action. Also the first video I’ve actually edited!

Especially handy (with its extension hoses) for blowing dust off any tools I use outside, before bringing them back in. I don’t even have to move the vac!

Have been using one of these for about two years now it’s been great. I only bought it as temporary solution but haven’t upgraded yet.
I improved it by using it with a cyclone separator. Then found the stock hose can come off and 50mm transparent flexible hose (I found on Amazon) push fits straight in, if you ever think of going that route. Really improved the suction through the cyclone 👍🏻

Excellent tips. Was already having a think about a separator. And maybe some ductwork up in the ceiling somehow!

@@TiniestWorkshed My workshop is about the same size but nowhere near as organised as yours. We had a Vax vacuum that wasn't being used so our son set that up on a small trolley/sled - I can use it in the workshop or take it outside. Having said that, it's a bit of a pain to move around so I've been looking at this Evo vac. It's portability looks great as is that power take off set-up and I'm sure the wet/dry and blower options will be handy too.

Excellent demo of this fine looking little extractor. I've got a honking great triple motor Hyundai extractor. Not unhappy with, but can't really use it to maximum capacity with the table or mitre saw. I've been using an excellent little cordless Parkside extractor for everything else, but for sanding, the runtime just isn't sufficient.
I've seen all the hype surrounding the Festool midi, but would find it hard to stick 600 quid under the mitre station on a permanent basis. The Evolution is on offer at the moment for 70 pounds from Toolstation, so it is on the shortlist. One question though. Can you get dust bags for the Evolution? I can for the parkside and it makes a huge difference. Anyhow, thanks from the banks of the Clyde for taking the time to share your experience.

I’d be wary of putting shavings/dust from treated wood into the soil - it’ll do more harm than good in the long run.
