Great video and appreciate your insights. When I first watched this video my initial reaction was "the Marketing team is at it again", LOL. For the time being, we do now have infinite respawns with all the tier 3 beds, which I can see has its pros and cons. We'll see how that works out in the short run. Cheers!
I think moving to distance being the governing factor is a good one, but there will definitely be other mechanics they haven’t turned in yet (DNA degradation, etc). Going to be an interesting year
I knew I'd have 10 years to develop my character. His looks and personality and competencies, etc. And I knew to make him the youngest of a whole bunch of sisters with broods ready to replace me in the first week.
Always important to take the CIG marketing with a grain of salt and employ some grown-up common sense. Having said that, I did not necessarily employ this when I bought two Ironclads.
@@DawnstealerGaming Oh nice. Yeah, if you mean store credit then yes I did the same. I rolled back a Lib to jump across to the IC. Had been hoping the IC would come in slightly above the Lib but then I guess it is Drake, and they're likely to rise i cost in time anyway.
@@Bell_the_Cat always. I figured I could get a tali and vanguard in game easy enough, so those combined with a RAFT were enough to get me over the finish line
There's no overcoming that this feature gets released right at the Nursa launch. I wish I could believe there was some lore explanation, but I'm too cynical. I think the feature gets rebalanced in a few months after the sale. I bought one and will respawn till the wheels fall off. Also, I haven't seen a med beacon yet, and that's a shame.
That's the really frustrating part: CIG has been working on the next level of medplay for nearly three years now. They know EXACTLY what the loop is going to be like and "respawning a thousand times" was never it. I'll have more to say on this on Wednesday, because it sounds like the Sprintwatch is going to be real light, but...yeah. Incidentally, I just used a med beacon last night. Got dropped in a bunker where it was bugged out and spawning 10 or so guys every minute or so. Guy showed up, tried to rescue me, but as he was trying to revive me, they shot me final-dead, and killed him. So I respawned in the hospital, took HIS med beacon, and saved him (and recovered some of my stuff). But...yeah - not many beacons flying around these days. And I'm going to talk about that on Wednesday, too.
Wel they may as wel have had the character call it respwn as this game is heading into COD territory now which is such a shame as it used to have some kind of repercussions. CRs vision as originally put to backers is pretty much gone nowdays, sacrificed to the "I want it now and I just want to PVP and continue to respawn endlessly!" crowd.
It’s definitely not going to be that, which is why the commercial is so out of left field. It’s definitely NOT what CR has been planning all these years, and not what they’ve talked about even in the last month or so. I think they just wanted to make a kind of funny, exaggerated in-lore ad annnnnd…. Whiffed
I don't think DOAS will be as harsh as originally intended. They had to dial back a bit when they said we'd never lose our pledged ships. They originally said there'd be no character attributes and stats, that it would be entirely player skill IRL based, then in 22 they announced character attributes. There will be consequences to death but it won't be to the point of causing players to rage quit like happens in EVE Online. Their end goal is to attract and retain players, otherwise the life of this game service will diminish. We're seeing their attempt to attract and retain by lowering the skill ceiling with Master Modes to bring newer players up to have a better chance at combat against more veteran players.
It’s going to be harsher than most people think, pretty sure. At least for some professions. Was planning on going into detail on that a little more on Wednesday
@@DawnstealerGaming For various professions it definitely will be harsh. I meant more towards the things we own whether pledged ot bought in game that's stored in hangars and stations. Reputation will take major hits depending on actions and loss of whatever you have with you. The major thing most were worried about early on was our inventory assets we have stored. Now if someone has things stored at a station own by X corp and their rep tanks with X corp, they may not be able to recover those assets due to not being able to dock there till they get rep up or contract assets to a friend to move them.
Said this on the Carnival chat, but... Is it just me, or do others here also think that the Marketing team is out of touch: doesn't read lore nor actually play the game? (Note: I spent 8 years working for a marketing team, so a small bit of experience on how that works)
I mean, I appreciate the artistry of what they're doing - the product they're putting out is good and compelling... THAT said, taken in context of a game where communication has been muddied in certain instances, it's definitely an issue more often than not. And I'm sure these ads are being greenlit by teams above the marketing team, so there's that, too.
I think this was a fumble. Even being generous and putting this on the questionable marketing practices of fake RSI makes real RSI look kinda bad by obvious comparison...
No doubt about it - it was definitely a fumble. At the very best, it muddied the waters around the next tier of medical gameplay, which is going to introduce all those things like DNA degradation and effects that persist past regeneration

I managed to get mine for “free,” but…yeah, I feel that

NO, they took a skit from robot chicken and made it in to a video game.
