Evo Obituary Station Walkthrough
Now that they've taken the muzzle completely off for Evo, thought I'd show you something I haven't really seen in all the flood of jumppoint flythroughs: a walkthrough of Obituary Station - possibly the grossest of the Pyro stations.

@@PureZeal66 I mean, carnival’s home IS Cassell.
Don't forget. NPC crew will require proper amenities in order to maintain their morale and efficiency. I believe this is an obvious feature because they know people are going to solo this with them. Don't sleep on amenities if you're going to have them as crew members.
@@Wh1terider I have a whole video on exactly that. And another on blades. People soloing big ships will be less effective than a lot of people think
@DawnstealerGaming Thanks! I'll review and comment appropriately.
Best place to tour a ship is in Arena Commander free flight mode. Also there are two windows in the Mess Hall :)
@@delc82 yeah, I was pulling this for an org thing and just decided to do the walkthrough while waiting on people. Someone else was saying that about the windows too: they’re in the ceiling? Kind of weird, but glad there’s some sort of window in there
@@DawnstealerGaming Yeah in the cealing. At least you can see the sky or the stars while you take a break.
You complain about the BMM? I hadn't heard... ;)
@@PureZeal66 ……. I’m not bitter
With its long range and awesome "living" arrangements, I don't understand why it doesn't have a small tier 3 medbay.
I guess they were trying to stay away from giving it everything. That said, plenty of room for a Nursa in the back
It's the future. Please tell me there's a self-racking feature to the pool table. hehe 100% nailed need for a window in the hab area. It's one of the reasons I still love the Phoenix. Now if they'd just let me ditch the meeting table and sub in that pool table, it would be more bueno.
... that "pool-table" is more-than-just a pool-table... from what I understand. There should be more showcased on the "Exploration and Data-hub" features of the Recreation and Habitation Areas in coming-days...
I think the habitation/gallery has a couple skylights up top.
Got into the PTU yesterday and boy was it rough. Finally managed to get a decent FR in a euro server. This is a lovely ship, but interestingly it still has some foibles that I feel CIG should be easily avoiding these days. Twin lifts at the rear is wierdly excessive, given they rise and fall 3-4 metres apart. One would have been sufficient. I think the barricades that flip up once the midship cargo hold drops down could be taken out, so cargo egress can pass through side to side under the catwalk. There's not a lot to gripe about though, personally at least. There are skylights in the hab. I missed them when I did my first walkthrough. I like the separation for the armoury; that feels right. And it's great the way the rear cargo hold feels just like a giant Reliant. Also, Pacific paint would be my pic of liveries.
@@Bell_the_Cat yeah, the twin elevators are…odd. I don’t hate them, but they do chew up some room that could be used by, you know, cargo
I think the whole "starlancer issue" when it comes to the Max and "Dur" is frankly down to it's price. It's priced like a connie and is very comparable in a lot of ways including cargo capacity. CIG loves the connie and I dont think they want to step on any toes. If it were to be a caterpillar competitor, it's price would have to increase to match. And I think the starlancer really does feel like a ship that could have swelled in price to meet those needs, but they really wanted to make a more entry base builder with the BLD. In my opinion, i do think that this could have and should have been bumped up a tier of ship given it's size. Similarly, the exploration career path is a weird balance calculation where they've made a bunch of "useless" starter exploration ships and a few late game options like the odyssey and carrack. The Odyssey was balanced against the carrack, and one of the big differences is that the odyssey only holds something like 252 units of cargo. Which is nearly identical to the starlancer max. Aside from that, the odyssey offers medical benefits and a hangar in the current game iteration along with an exploration perk of a quantum refinery. So, for CIG, it probably comes down to how many features they can offer at a reasonable cost without stepping on the odyssey's toes. Which probably means sacrificing the belly bays like the tac for an exploration drone station and a medical bed and charging $350 for an exploration ship that would be a pricy competitor to a corsair, but half the price of the odyssey. At the end of the day i'm totally fine with them releasing ships that are overall solid for the money but maybe aren't meta defining. Which.. is similar to the freelancers. And the starlancer is essentially the 2x version of those. in size, function, and price. It's kinda hilarious how grumpy people are getting about that fact. Then again, people are getting grumpy that the polaris cant be soloed.. so that doesnt mean much. lol
@@Mytagforhalo I’m glad they kept it the size it’s at, but it really does feel like a long distance support ship (like you would pair this with a BLD) or exploration ship, rather than a hauler. That could just be pre-gaming for the eventual release of the Hull B
@DawnstealerGaming a support ship is a good way to put it I think. The other application I'm curious about is if the mining bags fit inside. If so, it would be pretty convenient for future prospector and mole fleets imo. It could even have a roc on the back.
@ that’s a good point - they should, I think. The bags aren’t all that big and I think the platform part is 3-4 SCU wide? Definitely something to test out
3:15 What is going on here? Is that round thing blocking the aft portion of the midship cargo hold?
Fuel tank, I think? It's external, though - so doesn't block anything inside, thankfully
@@DawnstealerGamingIt does look like it may be blocking pulling cargo out of the hold if you have boxes fore of it that you aren't also taking out. That's the part I'm worried about. I may have to wait and see till IAE.
@ it does block it off a little, but you just need to load that area first
Grim, I love the overall design of the Max. But I'm going to be honest here... I feel like the cargo grid is underwhelming for the ship size. The ship strongly reminds me of an exploration ship. Not a true blue cargo ship. In fact, I've made a post on spectrum with this concern. The Max looks like what the unborn Starlancer "Trek" should be. The cargo variant could cut down on the crew living areas a bit, allow 32 scu boxes to stack on the port and starboard side for a total of 256 scu, then just allow the vehicle bay to double as a cargo grid for a total of roughly 400 scu. Throw a sliding remote tractor beam underneath the catwalk and viola. You've got yourself a VERY nice hauler imho. Take the Starlancer Trek and include some exploration perks onto it. You've now got 4 ships under the Starlancer name that are masters of their craft.
A Starlancer DUR would be a nice ship to have. I think off grid cargo can get the MAX to 438scu with 4scu boxes stacked on the full midship grid and 150scu in the vehicle section of the rear hold. Being unable to put those 4scu boxes on a full midship cargo hold I think is why CIG limited that grid to 2scu tall instead of the 3scu that fits. Also the rear hold having dedicated room for a vehicle really cuts down on how much room there is for cargo. No vechile and the grid could have been 9•3•8
Tend to agree that I think the cargo area should expand into where the vehicles go. This really does feel more like an explorer that can carry a good bit of cargo than a true blue cargo ship.
@@DawnstealerGaming "Cargo area should expand into where the vehicles go." That would be nice. Give us the choice of cargo or a vehicle.
... it's my understanding that there is a loosely-concealed "Exploration and Data-hub" integrated within both the Recreation and Habitation Areas that has yet-to-be properly showcased. Co-pilot has unique "Sensor and Radar-command" controls.

I don't understand the reasoning behind nerfing--sorry, "balancing"--the Corsair, when armor hasn't been introduced yet.
@@TheModelOmega honestly? Me either. But they’re also making a playable demo, which sometimes means balancing for the game as it is rather than what they eventually want it to be. The Corsair with x4 S5s and x2 S4s on a solo ship was a bit much
Tracked vehicle before the Atlas one I believe could be an MLRS platform.
@@rtek777 could be - would explain that lump on its back
41:33 is the Crusader Intrepid. The thing over the person standing is the gun right of the cockpit. The lights out front are on the edges of the cockpit. You can't see the back of the ship well but that's where the F-19 style inward swept stabilizers are. Go check out the previews of the Intrepid that start after the Medical Terrapin previews with this silhouette in mind and you'll see it.
@@Tenjac I’ve seen it, but it just seems too smashed to be that? That said, could be exactly what it is and it’s a weird angle. The only thing that makes me think it isn’t is that the 2023 scroll showed it with C1 style wings that fold vertical when landed, and that’s not showing in this thing
as for the Drake thing, i think you guys may be too focused on it being a drake ship. the wing design doesn't lend itself well to atmo flight. in order for asymmetry to work, you would need to balance the lift characteristics of both sides. that is why the corsair has 2 small wings and one large wing opposite it. the landing gear is also very different looking to anything we have seen. it looks like it is a single leg that it is landing on. just my thoughts on that particular ship.
@@robertvohs1699 agreed of this we’re a realistic flight simulator, but this is also a game where the caterpillar can actually fly. I was the one saying that I think it’ll be hunting for jump points, although another commenter was saying ground resource node exploiter, which makes sense with that snail foot
@@DawnstealerGaming i can see the resource gatherer, but as far as sims go, CIG has said there will be actual atmo flight characteristics in the game eventually. if that is the case, the lift needs to be balanced. just my thoughts on it
@@robertvohs1699 And I'd be totally on board if this were DCS (which I also play - also an AF brat and grew up flying), but I fully expect CIG to gamify aerodynamics. They have way too many ships that absolutely would not be able to fly at all. They'll probably cheat it with something like "wing surface area" or some such. Even the corsair would twirl itself into the ground if they go with a realistic model
i do believe what you have titled as the weird ass thing, is an anvil starter ship. they supposedly want a starter ship from all manufacturers and this would put them one step closer
Pisces: Um, hello?
@@robertvohs1699 your team Scarlet then - he’s seeing a starter, too
The ship that you all call "weird ass thing" is more than likely a Crusader starter ship. I believe it's based on the shuttles you see in Orison. Edit: The "Drake thing" may very well be a larger variant of the Misc Reliant ships? Maybe. Just....maybe..🤔
@@durtyred86 it’s not the intrepid, unfortunately. Intrepid has a big gun off the right side, kind of like a smaller ares.
@@durtyred86 and yeah, that might compete with the cutter or the cutty, but it certainly looks like…well…yeah - could be anything 😂
DIdn't they mention extraction at citcon? Wonder if the duckling is some sort of mineral extractor with that odd foot.
@@rj_hondo7683 yeah, the pioneer has extractors built in, apparently. I think this guess might be the strongest of the lot, because that snail foot landing gear is WEIRD. Granted, could just be the angle
I'm so sad I couldn't make the discussion, but short notice didn't give me any time to to plan for it. Hopefully you can get things like this on a caladar for the future. Also, because they are basically big, fat Freelancers, I hereby dub the new large MISC ships as the "Fatlancer".
Don't worry: I'll be doing more Carny Chats for sure. I'm also down with fatlancer or girthlancer, given MISC's proclivity towards making their ships look like...well...
Drake Rapier?
@@SamLowry_DZ-015 drapier? Wait…wait no
Could the Misc Fortune be both a salvager and a miner?
@@matteobarbarini3120 hm. I mean it *could * be, but CIG likes having single use ships because it forces players to specialize, get a friend who has that ship role, or buy more ships. That said…. Yeah, could be. Especially since the heads are modular
More frames less ships!
Between 45:57 - 45:58 the mystery barge, the rear starts coming in to focus. It looks to me as if there’s a large underside for holding cargo containers. The rear engines and gear kinda look more like aegis in a way? But my heart wants it to be a RAFT XL.
Smaller than the RAFT, unless that dude up front is WAY in the foreground. I do think it's some kind of cargo mover, but what kind is hard to say
I don’t think 32:00 is a Gordon I think it’s another ship and it’s small than the guardian
I think it's a variant of that model, but I do think it's the same chassis. Should know pretty soon, though - my bet is that they're going to be dropping the Guardian at IAE in a couple weeks
14:50 might be a military refueler , I say this just because with base building coming out we need refueling vehicles or ships
that's a good call, and we do have those in the concept images for other ships
12:25 this vehicle is an all terrain explorer for sure the thing on the back is mud flaps. It has a size 1 turret that’s def what that is
Agreed on turret. I originally thought mudflaps, but it looks a little more intentionally curved. Could just be artistic license on the mudflap geometry, though
Some crazy ideas, guys. Love it. My 15c: weird ass thing - I'm getting strong Trailblazer (SW Outlaws) vibes, and instead of a 'keel' I see a side opening, low-slung cargo hold. The headlights are totally Anvil. Drake thing - I'm starting to wonder if it's a dedicated BH vessel. It almost looks like a stairway on the back of the foot. I like it. Kind of Slave I-esque.
It's funny you mention Slave 1 - that was my guess in the video I didn't hit record on. I still wouldn't be shocked if it was a blockade runner or jump point finder, but yeah - could be anything. The barge could definitely be some grav sled cargo mover
Good editing! Sorry we were so long winded, if we practice a couple more times I bet we can get it under an hour 😂
2 - 3 more practice runs and we’ll have it down
My take on the CSV-FM was that the 4scu was JUST for construction materials, not random cargo boxes. John mentioned a “mini freight elevator” and that you fed it materials for the drones to use. The SM then carries a further 4 scu for when FM is empty.
It's definitely a weird one. I could see it being acknowledging the size of the drones, but who knows. I figure they'll clarify once they drop it.
The Drake ship with the weird landing gear makes me think that it has resource extractors in it's gear like the Pioneer does so maybe it is a crafter/extractor but not a base builder, there was a mention of a concept Drake crafting ship in the files a few years ago during AIE when the Cutter was released that was later taken out so maybe this was it.
Solid point - they'll need to develop something to exploit that kind of resource node and probably test it out before they scale it up for the Pioneer. I'm leaning towards crafter/builder just because that seems to be the theme this year, but with Drake in the mix, it could be anyone's guess
Stability over features when it comes to major core tech. We don't need a repeat of 3.18. Trim all the fat, get a solid foundation, then add things in with point patches at a reasonable pace.
Glad some people see things for what they are; Saltymike had a similar point of view, which is good. Unfortunately there's a sizable amount of people complaining about engineering being pushed back even though these same people have been complaining to no end about CIG needing to focus on stability, and now that they're doing it they are complaining that CIG is waylaying content. Some people will just never be happy regardless.
This.
@@Billy-bc8pk yeah, especially now, well…this last year, people have just been on edge
I obviously understand not dropping Pyro, Server meshing, AND engineering in the same patch. And I obviously understand that meshing and Pyro will appeal to more people than engineering. Doesn't mean I'm happy about it 😢
@@PureZeal66 fair. I mean, getting them all in one patch would have been amazing if it all worked smoothly, buuuuut….
Happy Halloween! I agree with you, I'm glad they split off engineering and fire propagation and everything else to a later patch. Pyro and server meshing was big enough that it will give them a lot of work to get it online and working by the end of the year.
@@julioreyes4698 I’m not sure they’ll stop it by the end of the year, but totally agreed they need to stick the landing on 4.0. Especially after this latest patch

I share your concern around the big org dominance potential, but I would expect them to be disadvantaged by membership availability and server capability. I'm actually more concerned about org alliances/pacts. As far as small orgs go, I think all those asteroid fields and far flung territories are going to be a godsend for small orgs to carve out their own unique destinies.
@@Bell_the_Cat yeah, I was going to do a talk with my org about that at some point - I think smaller orgs will be tucked up in safer systems, or hiding out in weird places that would be hard to stumble across
I was disappointed when we heard only 5 systems on release. I was hoping closer to 10, when Chris first said we would only get 5-10 on release and add from there. I feel they could have made better progress on that if they weren't planning PoIs within every 100km on planets. Many planets should be bare in some regions as they were only somewhat recently terraformed. It is starting to feel more like an FPS shooter than space sim. I like the crafting, base building and blueprint research direction as I felt the game really was lacking meaningful progression. This should hold long term interest. I hope to see a more detailed roadmap that includes the next versions of the incomplete careers and ships that still need work before a 1.0. Even salvaging and mining have some work that needs done and they are the farthest along. I was glad to hear Terra was including in the first five systems. It is going to be an interesting next couple of years. I just hope server meshing gets in and tuned soon, so all these other things can move forward with less rework.
@@tullan1652 yeah, I get that. I still think by the time they’re polishing off Terra, the tools will be far enough along that we’ll have a low of systems just waiting in the wings
