    Thank you so much for this great recipe!.. I have made 3 batches and I must admit, my husband and I are addicted to them!.. I suspect we are now cycling more to ensure to we get to eat them!!.. Learning the point of the sugar cooking was a bit tricky, but I got it now!.. So happy!.. Thank you so much! I find that eating a little bit of this energy bar before cycling increases my energy significantly! I used to cycle on an empry stomach in the morning, so blood sugar was a bit low, I guess!.. But this energy bar makes a huge difference! I feel so much better! Thank you!..🙏🙏🙏

    I shared your video on gcn.
    I make the bars a bit different.
    500g sugar, 100 millilter soymilk,
    100g raisins, 1 tbsp coconut oil or peanut butter, 1 tsp cocoa powder, 1 tsp salt
    Heat to 120 Celsius
    Add 500g of rolled oats (the small, soft kind)
    Mix and then spread out on a baking sheet. Skip the oven.

    I just made my first batch and they taste amazing! Thank you for this guide! As a baking newb it was a bit intimidating, but it turned out to be pretty easy and the bars keep their shape perfectly after cooling down. I was a bit confused at first about the temperatures for boiling (120 deg. Celsius) and baking (160 deg. Celsius), as I wasn't sure whether the bars should bake or just dry in the oven (Fahrenheit vs Celsius). You should ask your wife where she keeps the silicone spatula, which is very handy to flatten the sticky dough without touching it with the hands. Greetings from Germany!

    Thank you for considering a plant based alternative to your recipe. Cheers.

    ❤️ These are the best. You can skip the baking in the oven. Still perfect.

      @@melbournecyclingsegments7510 Absolutely! As soon as they finished, I wanted to get on my bike. I used dried cherries instead of apricots and pecans instead of peanuts as those were what I had in the house. Extra scoops of peanut powder instead of the protein. Just AMAZING. They will be perfect for my long rides!

      @@melbournecyclingsegments7510 This recipe is great. Baked them on Monday - I cut mine into 24 pieces so it's around $1/slice (I was a bit of a stooge and paid too much for some items so I can trim the cost down next time)... But most energy bars would be $2-3 and can't beat homemade super fresh! I'll try the second recipe when this lot runs out.. The tray felt like 5kg in weight! Awesome stuff JP 👊

    Mate it's a pity we haven't got smell-a-vision. Better leave the doors and windows open before the missus gets home. Pretty impressive ingredients list, however the problem as I see it given the way inflation has hit this place it looks like we'll need to take out a bank loan to cover the ingredients cost. 👍👍👍

    Any ideas of how many carbs per bar or serve?

    • @melbournecyclingsegments7510
      @melbournecyclingsegments7510  3 роки тому +4

      Rough calc of about 370cal and 70g of carb, 5g fat, 9g protein for that recipe. That's for each bar and I got about 16 bars per tray.

    Hi which peanuts would be best to use. Thanks

    • @melbournecyclingsegments7510
      @melbournecyclingsegments7510  2 роки тому +1

      I just buy a small packet of crushed peanuts from the supermarket. Easy and convenient. Otherwise any peanut will do, just crush them to small pieces

    How many bars would you recommend for taking out on a ride?

    • @melbournecyclingsegments7510
      @melbournecyclingsegments7510  4 роки тому

      They say 50g of carbs per hour but I guess that depends on how hard you are riding and in which zone. I find that one or two of these bars is good for maybe 100km. Maybe having half at a time. Depends how big you cut them too but you can see I make 16 bars with that recipe so that gives you an idea.
