- In Irish, peat is a rare thing compared to its Scotch cousins. But Teeling is helping tip that scale with one more bottle in the lineup.

There's a moment in nearly every episode when these two remember that they have a whiskey to discuss.
Even though they mentioned the rep, they forgot to “crickets” them… My second favorite Easter egg to watch for.
Daniel and Rex, Thank you. This year has been one of the worst if not the worst I have had (I lost both my mother (cancer) and my uncle (covid) this year within 2 months of one another). Your reviews that I watched taking care of Mum (I was her primary care giver) gave me some smiles but this episode was the first all out laugh I have had since February. Both were scotch drinkers and introduced me to whiskeys which I have expanded on. Please raise a glass (preferably scotch) to them and keep up the amazing work.

@@lukashavel7690 I've tried a couple Irish, and maybe it's because my nose is broke (i.e. clogged CONSTANTLY) but I really can't tell the difference between them.
My list to buy is alive and always growing. Another review = another one added to the list
@@lukashavel7690 as an Irish drinker I totally disagree. I think Irish is much more reasonable. I order a lot from Ireland, outside of things like Redbreast 27
Haha! Picked up the Blackpitts about a month ago. And one of my buddies picked up the Connemara last week. We had a gathering over the past weekend, and we did contrast these two just like you guys. We all agreed that these would both be good options to introduce new-ish whiskey lovers to peat. Big fan, don’t always comment.
A little way into my whisky journey from the UK just wanted to say fun reviews guys. Whisky is a serious business with a fun side. You have nailed it. Definitely going to catch up on your others

Teeling, it’s the pitts
The sun clearly fried more than just Rex's skin, his mind is more aloof than usual.
Their flavor notes inspired me. In my glass: a few drops of Ardbeg Wee Beastie, 10-15 drops Isle of Skye and an ounce of Teeling: magical! I'll definitely be looking for the peated Teeling!
Just ordered this blind, I hope Teeling keeps their streak of never disappointing. 😁
I remember a tasting from Teeling either shortly before or after the Blackpits was released. I think it was Alex Chasko who told us that they bought the most heavily plated malt that they could get their hands on and after the third distillation run, they couldn’t pick up any smoke in the distillate. It only came back during the maturation
You can kinda see and feel that is the last ep. of a day...banter is on point. MORE tipsy/smashed Daniel and Rex .
The voice is completely spot on to Daniel, even if he doesn’t realize it.
A chair like that needs an oar to be propelled.
Connemara is my favourite Irish. I'm Irish, grew up helping process turf and have many a fond memory smelling it burn. I cant wait to try this Teeling.
Idk why this popped into my head but now i want more than anything to taste what a peated stout cask finish would be like

We have a thing called "Schlenkerla" around here, a maerzen type beer traditionally made with beech-smoked barley malt. You love it or you hate it, there's nothing inbetween. They do fill in oak casks excluselively, althoug the aging is done in stainless steel before. They don't sell the casks to privateers, but offer a liquor made from the beer.

Ordered Blackpitts from Ireland for my husband in November when it released. It’s a good one to try if you are just getting into peated Irish. It’s not as strong as others and it’s sweet and fruity

The Teeling Blackpitts is delightful. I also wish Ireland would do more peated whiskies, but I will take this one and the Connemara...for now. :)
The linen shirts you should get are the Cuban Guayabera shirts. They also have 4 pockets to hold your cigar cutters and lighters.
After watching this episode and looking back at most of the other episodes, I now realize why I watch Whiskey Vault/Tribe. My kids don't seem all that bad now.

I tried the teeling small batch one. 46 alcohol yet very smooth
First Irish whiskey that I found had that shortbread cookie note and I’ve tried Redbreast, Green Spot etc.

At the beginning of your whisky journey, would you recommend trying as many as possible or would you limit it to lower strength whiskies? I’ve only tried whisky’s around the 40-45% so far but I’m always tempted to buy some cask strength stuff. Too soon?
This one piqued my interest. I had a browse to see the kind of cost I would be looking at and came across the ginger beer cask! I hope the boys get around to it.
Sounds like a good excuse for another trip to Ireland.

Connemara is 40%, Teeling is 46% accounting for the density. I thought Conn was more vegetal and Teeling more ashy. I like the Teeling a lot more.

I'd love to sample another peated Irish whiskey! Connemara is the only one I have found on the shelves with any regularity. I'm glad I am not extremely sensitive to smells, however I do hear a similar voice in my head when I am leading up to doing my own video. "Don't use the scented lotion!" "Shave early so you don't smell like shaving cream and after shave!" "Is someone in the next apartment cooking right now!?". And I do believe some of us will be waiting for you guys to bottle something called "My cousins hooch" at some point in the future. 😂

Hey Rex, a while back you made a comment to the effect of "are you knocking my breakfast whiskey?"
I have a solution for that, just remind them that many smoothies include soaked grains, oatmeal, quinoa etc. Well just tell them you are having a purified grain smoothie that is made with (insert mash bill of said breakfast whiskey) grains.
Connemara 12 year old is even better than the Connemara. You guys MUST try.

One thing you forgot to mention is that Blackpitts is triple distilled. That makes it, to the best of my knowledge, the only triple distilled peated single malt on the market.
Not gonna lie, haven't watched yet but saw the whiskey bottle and thought to myself: "this is going to be so good..."

Smoke with no iodine. Great entry into the smoky whisky world if you want a gentle introduction.
Rex should open a bag of hops right before Daniel walks in to the studio.
