Seeing how they are deeply connected to korean culture and, in this episode, like mexican food I think they should check out the large korean community in pesqueria, nuevo leon, mexico. It is a community that started when a kia factory moved to the town of pesqueria and some koreans along with it as well. Since the factory moved there in 2015 there has been a booming community of close to 200k residents that, before the kia factory moved, had only about 20k inhabitants. This was because so many koreans started moving there and was soon after being called "pescorea" to show that the town had such a heavy korean influence. It said that its such a big community that a lot of the residents haven't needed to learn spanish because they only interact with other koreans. While other koreans have adopted their new home and started to mix korean and mexican culture. Y'all should try and see about going and filming in "pescorea" to see what its like for this channel or korean englishmen.

As a Mexican that is also a superfan of Jolly, I'm so happy to see Josh and Ollie enjoying some of the food I grew up with. I can't wait to see them go to Mexico and eat some authentic Mexican food made by true abuelas. 🙂
As a mexican, watchig them eat chilaquiles for the first time is really amusing. Here in México, chilaquiles is the favorite food after a night of "partying" (aka hangovers )🤣
If only the people appreciate the people as much as the food. Lots of Americans like to shove their faces with Mexican food, then turn around and hate on Mexicans. A great example would be those Republican politicians who are anti-Mexican and then out of nowhere show up in a Mexican restaurant the next day. Not to mention them taking vacations to Mexico.... Mexicans should start gatekeeping and only share to those who show genuinely love.
You lot should do a series in Mexico exploring all of its amazing cuisine and all of the great stuff it has to offer. There are so many beautiful must-see places (like the “pueblos mágicos” for example) all throughout the country to explore. And since the country is so big, each region has its own unique cuisine with tons of local specialties to discover (the tortas ahogadas from Guadalajara are my favorite!).
I love this show and especially when you guys were in Savannah recently. Your guest Hooni Kim was great. So charming and endearing. I loved his explanations without being condescending.
Yeah, that's NYC. Every part of it is "and people from this culture came here." One of the few cities, maybe only city, where you can get food from nearly every world culture cooked by people who grew up in that culture.
@@ajs787 I have heard that London is largely like that, but some expats I know have told me that it's nearly impossible to get good, authentic Mexican food. Maybe some of the world cuisine in NYC has been Americanized as well, but the things I've heard about Britishized Mexican food makes me shudder. I also watched a British Bake Off contestant try to peel an avocado once and nearly died. lol
@A Sopala even inside. I am on the East Coast, but I am from the Midwest. Any hopes of getting really authentic, good Mexican food between New York and Mexico are very thin. If you're lucky, a place will have someone from Guatemala in the kitchen. Otherwise, you're going to get imposters. And I don't even know that it's that grade in New York. And in Boston, it tends to be chichi Fusion cuisine, rather than authentic
Casa Enrique is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC, but its just out of manhattan so not many people outside of NY know it. Glad Josh and Ollie got to try it!
Some time ago I saw a video of an American couple describing chilaquiles as "breakfast nachos", and as a Mexican, I think that was a perfectly accurate description for someone who has never had chilaquiles before
Now I love how Ollie defended Gabie 4:40 but also I want Sid to be on Jolly too. I know he appeared on Gabie's channel but I want to see Ollie and Sid/Gwang Ho interaction on cam and if he will say anything related to Masterchef Korea 😂
I love ceviche! I make lomi salmon "cooked" in Kosher salt, rinsed, flaked, soaked in Pico de Gallo and served with pretzles. Lived in Hawaii and melded both cultures. I could face plant into this dish 7 days a week
As a fellow Mexican, I’m so proud of the dishes that were introduced. Since most of the dishes present my media is always tacos! The “Sopes” dish is actually a sort of flat corn doughy tortilla that it’s traditionally pinch on the outline of the tortilla to make a sort of plate form. In order to spread black fried beans on the bottom, it’s typically know to use shred chicken, lettuce, and queso fresco “Mexican cheese” to top it off. (1/2)
The mole enchiladas, are actually called “Enmoladas”. Mole can be made in multiple different ways, but it depends on the region that you’re are from. Typically most moles have some sort of seeds (ex. pecans, peanuts, sesame seeds, or sometimes even toasted bread) and the OG ingredient Chocolate in order to make this sort of sauce be nutty and creamy. Don’t forget the Chile peppers (passilla and ancho) (2/2)
Traditionally, enchiladas are made w corn tortillas not flour. The flour tortillas are used with flautas which is fried. The “fried beans” are actually called refried beans 😅 also, LOVE chilaquiles, it usually has a fried egg on top and sooo good. Love your videos. Thank you for the constant and amazing entertainment!!!
i originally like watching the boys because of their korean Englishman channel or this one with JOLLY but i’m very happy they get to see some of my favorite dishes of mexican cousine that i get to enjoy every day like emboladas y chilaquiles & even el ceviche !

I love these videos. I've always loved their food videos, but my appreciation has just grown exponentially since they did their American South episodes because I don't know what korean food is supposed to look like so everything is new to me there, but watching them eat things that I have grown up on is so nice to see. I don't know how this compares to the other cultures that JOLLY pulls from in their videos, but I can say definitively that when they ate southern food and gave a depiction of the south and southern culture, they did a damn good job at how they depicted the south (in culture and food). I truly respect the level of care for the region that they gave.

Living in a city where Mexican food is prevalent (and being Mexican), I'm alwaus astonished by how many people have never tried some of the dishes. And New York isn't really known for their Mexican food (though this look pretty food)...you need to come to Chicago or LA for a second try. They have a higher Mexican population and a large immigrant Mexican population so the food is very authentic (and delicious)

I grew up making guacamole at home. Still do. I was surprised when I got older and found out some people don’t. I prefer it chunky than the over blended version many restaurants serves.
It's interesting to see you guys eat and be so impressed on dishes I grew up on. Growing up society pushed us to be as Americanized as possible. I thank my parents for insisting to stay traditional ❤️ And it warms my heart to see you enjoy mexican food
Society didn’t push my dad, who was born and raised in Mexico, to lose his culture or traditions. That’s ridiculous. Also, this is the USA, so of course, you’re supposed to assimilate. Otherwise, stay in Mexico. No one came into your house and said that you can’t cook a certain way or not speak Spanish( which is a European language btw)🙄 All the stores where I grew up have Mexican products in them, so I just debunked your claim. I can get carne asada, Sangria, Sidral, aguas frescas, crema, queso fresco, Mexican vegetables and fruit, Mexican candy like pulparindo and Mexican hot chocolate etc. Would you expect Americans or anyone not from there , living in Mexico to not assimilate to their culture and only speak English and expect all the Mexicans there to accommodate them? You can’t go to any other country and not assimilate so why do you expect to come here and not assimilate to American culture? No one is forcing anyone to not hold on to their traditions and culture as long as it’s not breaking American laws. How about you appreciate all the opportunities that America has, instead of complaining?
@SavSmiles why does my experience bother you so much? I simply made a small positive grateful note. You seem to be trying really hard to prove yourself. I hope you're okay. You seem so sad. Let me know if you need to talk to someone. I don't know you but if you need to vent your anger and frustration, I don't mind hearing. I hope you're happy. Bless your little soul.
I’m glad yall did this! Mexican cuisine is one of the best in the world, so many Mexican cooks and chefs have amazing skills and knowledge base, but rarely get deserved laurels.
Cultural fact: the enchiladas are not actually enchiladas. If the sauce is green or red the dish is called ENCHILADAS, if the sauce is mole then they are called ENMOLADAS and, if the sauce is made with beans then they're called ENFRIJOLADAS. It's exactly the same dish, what changes the name is the sauce base. Source: well, I'm mexican and I live in Mexico so I kinda know stuff xD

Have you watched the Korean Englishman channel? I highly recommend it if you haven't. That's Josh's channel, with Ollie behind the camera. If you want to smile even more, watch the series on that channel where they introduce high school boys/London cabbies/a London football team to Korean food. It's so good!
I’m giggling ‘cause the whole time Chef and Ollie are savoring the food and conversation Josh is just going to town on each food item 😂. I’m amazed at how he does it, without the weight gain I get just watching! ❤❤❤❤
Boost this idea!!
I SECOND THIS
Thissss
I’m Mexican American and my husband Korean . I love his food . He loves mine .. it’s all about being open to new things in life .
Title should be: "Brits try Mexican food in New York with a Korean chef"
mic drop. Keep bringing the cultures together, love it!
The chorizo bean “taco” is a play on a sope (so-peh) it looks like 😊 thank you for trying my cultures food! 🇲🇽❤️
Also it’s most likely cotija cheese not Mexican cheese on top of the enchiladas
Was about to say this about the cheese. LOL.
Pellizcadas?
@@desireenichole_ Cotija cheese is Mexican cheese.
@@desireenichole_ cotija is Mexican cheese. You won't find yellow or pepperjack cheese used in Mexican dishes.
I've got to say, I really enjoy these videos. I had fun with the teenagers, but the new ones with Josh and Gabi's friends give another experience. They go to more places and try other kinds of food. It just shows that have more kinds of creativity in their videos and I'm glad we're here for the ride.
I love that you guys don't stretch yourselves videos to 20 minutes where half is useless filler. Straight, go the point, entertaining. If you ever want good eats in Kansas - I have the hook up in Wichita!
Always love when our culture is appreciated🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
If only the people appreciate the people as much as the food. Lots of Americans like to shove their faces with Mexican food, then turn around and hate on Mexicans. A great example would be those Republican politicians who are anti-Mexican and then out of nowhere show up in a Mexican restaurant the next day. Not to mention them taking vacations to Mexico.... Mexicans should start gatekeeping and only share to those who show genuinely love.
This should be a Gabie and chef Hooni Kim reunion episode and Ollie will ask that question why Gabie became second in Masterchef Korea 😅
And Gabie would want to sink in embarrassment
@@oxoelfoxo that too haha atleast she can hear chef’s side. 😄
An episode is not an episode until you see Josh's eyes pop open with delight. 😃
i loveeee how respectful you be
guys are❤
As a Mexican fan of jolly I’ve been waiting for this
I love this show and especially when you guys were in Savannah recently. Your guest Hooni Kim was great. So charming and endearing. I loved his explanations without being condescending.
Brits with Korean and Mexican foods?? in New York?!! love the cultural mixture here! hahahah
Yeah, that's NYC. Every part of it is "and people from this culture came here." One of the few cities, maybe only city, where you can get food from nearly every world culture cooked by people who grew up in that culture.
Funny enough, London is also a city like that.
I also watched a British Bake Off contestant try to peel an avocado once and nearly died. lol
@@shaneg9081 Yeah, Mexican food outside the Americas doesn't tend to be very good.
Watching these two young guys puts the biggest smile on my face. Thank you for the videos.
Casa Enrique is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC, but its just out of manhattan so not many people outside of NY know it. Glad Josh and Ollie got to try it!
I am absolutely *loving* these food videos and seeing you two enjoy yourselves!!! Keep them coming ♥
Don’t forget the Chile peppers (passilla and ancho)
(2/2)
I hope it reaches out to any audience that would like to know this small facts about this dishes!!!
ollie unintentionally grabbing the jalepeno slice was soo good
being a mexican and seeing how raw your reactions are toward our traditional foods, is warming. ❤
Love these travel food series but I also find myself missing Rev Chris, Ollie’s Dad, Josh’s Mom and all the other friends and family that used to appear on Jolly before. Hope we will see them again in the future.
My heart is happy seeing other cultures develop a love for Mexican food! A traditional mole requires hours on hours of prep and technique. Also the cheese is cotija, a crumbly and creamy Mexican cheese 🤗 love the content
This making me crave some good Mexican food. I lived in the American Southwest for 25 years and had some amazing Mexican food and have had it in Baja, Mexico also.
You know that you're going to get a lot of people telling you that what you had with Southwest and not Mexican, right?
@@LindaC616 - I also lived in Southern California and have been to Baja, Mexico...pretty authentic Mexican. Yes, New Mexico has Southwestern Mexican food, but there are so many Mexican's living in New Mexico now that you can get the real deal.
Is that you Bobby Flay!
@@LindaC616 we are on the border of Mexico in Southern California, right by TJ. Yes, it is authentic Mexican food bc I’ve been to Mexico too and it’s just as good, made with the same ingredients bc we get the same vegetables, fruits and cheese from Mex.
As a mexican-american loved seeing you guys eat & enjoy my culture’s food 🥹
So happy to see how you both enjoyed our Mexican cuisine. Btw, the triangular “nachos” are called ‘totopos’. Welcome to Mexico when you decide to come! :)
As a Mexican-American who loves your show, thank you for doing the Mexican food episode! 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼
I love Josh's eyes popping wide open as the food-gasm hits.
I’m so happy you guys tried some Mexican food as a Mexican living in 🇬🇧 I just cannot find proper Mexican food here (I don’t live in London so it’s even harder) most of it it’s a British take on Tex-Mex food and to see that you tried some of my favorites like mole enchiladas and chilaquiles made my day
I hope you can try tamales 🫔 (there’s soooo many flavor options) and cochinita pibil tacos
Thanks for sharing some of Mexican food with your viewers 🇲🇽💕
Lol, Ollie over there half dying from the spice but still eating the chilaquiles😂 Love it
I'm glad that some folks from the other side of the Atlantic are actually taking the time to try the best of the US food scene, after spending so much time ripping on the lower end of our food.
Pepper & chocolate?! I have to try that someday!
The relationship between Gabie & Ollie is precious. I mean, come on, a good friend who teases you a lot, but is ready to back you up whenever someone talks ill about you is a person you don't see everyday!
You love to see Ollie standing up for his sisterwife Gabie.
I am a new Jollybee from California... love you both. For a while now, Josh's voice has really struck me as familiar at times (not all the time). But I could not quite place it. And then I heard David Tennant's version of Dr Who. That was it! I finally realized who it was (maybe he was doing it on purpose? Lol). Super original and imaginative. Keep it up!
Mexican Food Dates are always a great idea.
finally, youre eating mexican food, i was waiting for this like years and im so glad you liked it c: you should try menudo or pozole.

I’m Mexican and love seeing this ❤ the little tapas like bites are maybe supposed to be a fancy Sopes but idk actual sopes are amazing
Chilaquiles are a great every day breakfast but best with a fried egg and on a hangover 😅 and enchiladas ARE kinda like a wet small corn burrito lol there is usually 1-2 ingredients inside though. The cheese is queso fresco 🫶🏽 glad you guys liked it
My mouth is watering! I must make chilaquiles for breakfast this morning!
Chilaquiles for breakfast!!! Is my go to everytime I step into Mexico ❤
That’s when I know I’ve arrived 😇
Yum yum aww 😭I miss Mexico 🇲🇽

What I love about this video is that an asian is teaching brits about mexican food. It makes me proud that people from other countries enjoy our food and share it with others! 😁
I hope you get to have a good ceviche mixto. It’s so much yummier than just fish. Plus they add the “corn” and lots of red onions 🤤
What a fun guest. Really knowledgeable and nice!
I love these series because it’s basically “Brits try seasoning for the first time”
No matter what I'm feeling sad, mad, happy, bored. All of it. Nothing takes me out of my busy thoughts like the videos from Jolly. Thank you.❤ Hope you have a TV show in America someday.
I’m sure it was delicious, but like barbecue, the best Mexican food comes from holes in the wall.
I am utterly gutted right now... I work right by Casa Enrique.... I cannot believe you guys were so close I wanna cry T.T But yes, Casa Enrique is definitely a great Mexican spot to hit up if you're ever in LIC. Then afterwards, come visit me at Rockaway Brewery ;)
I thank my parents for insisting to stay traditional ❤️
And it warms my heart to see you enjoy mexican food
Society didn’t push my dad, who was born and raised in Mexico, to lose his culture or traditions. That’s ridiculous. Also, this is the USA, so of course, you’re supposed to assimilate. Otherwise, stay in Mexico. No one came into your house and said that you can’t cook a certain way or not speak Spanish( which is a European language btw)🙄
All the stores where I grew up have Mexican products in them, so I just debunked your claim.
Now, go to New Mexico or Arizona and try their Mexican Food! You won't be disappointed!
They should have tried it when they were in California
Cultural fact: the enchiladas are not actually enchiladas. If the sauce is green or red the dish is called ENCHILADAS, if the sauce is mole then they are called ENMOLADAS and, if the sauce is made with beans then they're called ENFRIJOLADAS. It's exactly the same dish, what changes the name is the sauce base. Source: well, I'm mexican and I live in Mexico so I kinda know stuff xD
So sad that it's raining and I can't go out for some good Mexican food right now! That looked so delicious!
I love Josh's bug eyed expression of whenever he eats something he likes. Like the experience is causing him to reconsider his entire life.
An Asian sitting with two brits in nyc eating Mexican food. Definitely seems like America lol
Im from mexico!! This made me laugh so much! Im so glad you like it. You should come to mexico, all food is AMAZING:)
God, that mole looks FIRE. I need to get some breakfast. Loving this travel series.
I was thinking the same. I love a good mole, and Chef was right, it's impossible to describe unless you've tasted it before!
Try fish ceviche and aguachiles !! Y mole pero del chile como mi lindo San Martin,Michoacán
I been waiting for this ☺️ next time try Mexican food in California 😁I’m Mexican and usually chilaquiles aren’t that spicy, you can add chicken and your choice or salsa roja or verde lol I wish they had more traditional tacos
Fax, best Mexican food, outside of Mexico, is in Cali.
@@lugi25 more specifically, SoCal. I’ve only found one restaurant in the Bay Area that had good Mexican food. My family is from Jalisco, so I’m used to the Mexican food that is made like in Guadalajara
@@savsmiles3042 It just depends on where large populations of Mexicans live. I've found good Mexican food up north in Sacramento, Stockton, Fresno... Where there are sizeable Mexican populations who have just immigrated from Mexico. Some places in SoCal, like Santa Barbara, have big Mexican populations however the Mexican food is absolutely terrible and Americanized because most of the Mexicans living there are not 1st, 2nd, or even 3rd Gen
I like how detail and understandable you guys describing the food
