Glad the tradition is evolving in Korea where the ladies don't have to slave all holiday. We did a Lunar New year thing yesterday and I felt good helping cook a couple dishes and getting things prepared on the table. Teamwork makes the dream work :D. Happy Lunar New Year!

It struck me while watching this…my parents have recently passed away and I really miss family gatherings, now during the holidays it’s just me my oldest son and youngest daughter. My youngest son and oldest daughter both spend time with their spouses families…..hold those times dear to your hearts ❤️🩹

I still cannot believe that most Korean households have 2 refrigerators - living in the states, this is also common, but partly it is due to the size of our homes. People keep an extra fridge in the garage, for example. But this is NEXT level. The food (and amount of food)!!! I know it was all delicious. I am so jealous just watching you all eat! LOL. Thank you so much for sharing this video with us. Stay warm and safe! Thank you for taking care of the strays. You guys are awesome.
Hearing Kyuho's mom's story made me remember my mom's. My dad's mom used to be the same. For example, when they were newlyweds, she would always criticize her for wanting to go visit my maternal family. It's because for them once you get married, the girl is considered not a part of her old household anymore but the guy's. Anyways, so excited for your book channel.😁

I worked in a bookstore then, but I still read a lot (I'm on my 10th book this month, which is highly unusual as I usually read about 2-4 books per month but getting back into reading more was one of my 2023 resolutions so I'm starting the year strong I guess lol) I'm stocked I will be able to follow your reading journey in this way!

But we try to help out and mainly we just want to spend quality time with the family & relatives we don’t see everyday.
I love the videos where you spend time with your families (both Korean and Canadian), except for the part where your mom (Kyuho) makes so much delicious food and I'm left starving here in the middle of nowhere Texas with the closest Korean place being a half-hour away. My Korean parents in Canada have two fridges jam packed full of food. One mostly contains all the ingredients you need to make banchan and broths.
Yesss! There are so many ingredients that go into making broths and banchan here! Totally get why you’d need more than one fridge 😅

I always watch your videos extra times when you feature your MIL especially during a special celebration. Her 3 fridges are a feast for the eyes, and she was so cute, trying to downplay it all by saying it's only this full of things as it's the holidays, hehe! Sarah's scones look incredible! I love how you bake delicious goodies with quite the most basic baking tools in your kitchen. Kuddos to you! Love how you guys had a humble but still lovingly made noodle soup lunch, and then, the HUGE feast! Definitely love the traditional bowing. Happy New Year! Kyuho’s Mom is a wonderful cook. Everything looked yummy. She must have been preparing for days. My own MIL was a great cook as well. We never left her apartment without goodies! I love holiday feasts. In my country, most holiday feasts are reserved for religious holidays. I am not a religious person, but I still love to celebrate them, just because we cook delicious food and we share it with family. However, I appreciate that you shared the other side of the coin. We all are proud of certain cultural traditions, but it doesn't mean that some toxic and weird behaviours aren't hidden in those. It's important to address those. I am happy that our generations and new ones are breaking off some cycles. P.S. Kyuho's mom is always a nice addition to your videos. Would love to see her as a regular. Happy Lunar New Year!
