Imho, CS3 is much smoother, i bought my new and have already 220.000 on my counter since last year and i must say, this is first gun that is so nice, i had only 16 barrel breaks and 0 breach chops/breaks... I had Luxe X and TM40 and those models destroyed my trust in Luxe, soo many problems, there was not one day with out balls breaking and choping in the breach, no new software updates not even aftermarket bolts helped, i have only one luxe, a 2.0 with ENCORE Bolt, waaaay better than X and TM40
PS: I have over 50 high end Guns but CS3 has it all, nice build quality, very good grips, and super easy maintance, the LUXE is kinda cold and boring in my opinion, and i think those new bolt upgrades wont eliminate all those previous problems

The prices of paintball guns are astronomically high. As I see the new Luxe still has sharp edges on the frontgrip which annoyed me with the TM40
They are the same prices we were spending 15 years ago. Really not that bad.
Thats a fair point. I love the mid range options now days like the 180R, DSR+, and ERA.
@@NSUCK13Actually not a good look at all. Business/Economics dictates that as tech and scale of production increase that prices should fall. Prices haven’t, even with the explosion paintball has seen in recent years.
Video games are the same prices as 15 years ago, systems are more expensive, cars more. Overall paintball is the same price and more efficient, we're talking about the most expensive marker you can buy. For most people they can get a high quality marker and setup for much cheaper. @@besteffortint
@@NSUCK13 They were 2k on release. Most of them were around $1500 though after that. $2k for a marker is pretty expensive. Whether it’s now or 15 years ago.
All I want to say is, thank you. You have always been my motivation for paintball and you got my into the sport which I probably wouldn’t have dug so deep into without you. I have a custom 2005 shocker with gold to green fade and skull and crossbones down the side. I paid 750 back in the day for it, my friends thought i was crazy, but it is amazing! :)
I feel like paintball gun prices really haven't changed all that much YOY. From the early 2000s to now the fact is, prices are way better than it was when I first started out. A beginner gun back in the day that wasn't a absolute dumpster fire costed at least 3-500 bucks brand new. No eyes and no electronics, that was sometimes with upgrades lol. The guns that were electronic had no eyes and were 700+. Nothing you bought out of the box was good on it's own if it wasnt called Dye, Bob Long, or Angel. Beginners coming into the game now get way more value then any of us got back in the day. High end guns have gotten way cheaper too. People spent dam near 3k for high end. You can get into the high end now for $1200 With a Luxe which is insane value. Used for 600 or less! Paintball is still expensive for dam sure, but it's gotten way better over the years with everything you get.
the advances in manufacturing and technology over the years has been great for the player. you get so much more for your money now than ever. I remember when I started and spyders were 300, most ppl starting out ran a 200 dollar tippmann 98 haha. There was huge aftermarket in paintball for a solid 15 years though simply bc very few companies offered markers that had enough features out of the box so ppl were still buying aftermarket for both performance and customization. today the platforms as essentially maxed out, now its just buy whos colors you like best or whos ergonomics you like best
I started on a tippmann 98. Then the guy at the pro shop told me. The marker doesn't make a good player it just makes it easier due to the volume it will fire. So he sold me a hopper and high end air tank before a marker and encouraged me to work on the basics and get the marker last. I did that and it was amazing when I got my proto matrix rave edition. Since I had the basic techniques down it made the jump to an electronic marker that much more satisfying.
I think your right the price is getting a little out of hand they need to add more barrel bores to the kit and when I have a tricked out ETHA3 that holds water next to all these high price guns and all I did was put an extra $300.00 into the engine in my marker I did spend $1000.00 less and still have a great marker. They need to bring the price down but it's still a great marker.

Marketing gimmick to sell more products. Everyone swapped over to autococker threads to avoid customers having to buy different barrels moons ago.
cocker threads should be the standard, hell I can buy an automag body that takes autococker threaded barrels. They will be like WDP if they dont change there ways!

100% worth it. I got the Adrenaline Luxe. DLX has made a lot of positive changes that most people either don’t know about or aren’t talking about.

Do you notice a big difference on the frame of the Adrenaline luxe vs the luxe x or tm40? I shot a luxe x the other day and that trigger guard angles down far too much for me. But the Adrenaline frame looks way more comfortable.
Im a TM40 guy and had the chance to use and IDOL last week. To me it just makes the TM40 one of the best values right now as it wasnt really a noticeable difference to me and TMs are going for dirt cheap right now.
So you think the TM40 is better? Or do you think its close enough to the IDOL to make it just as good for the lower asking price?
@@MattTheGymRatHe is definitely saying the TM40 is close enough in performance, that it makes more sense financially to run a TM40 over an IDOL.
@@MattTheGymRat I am saying to me the changes over a TM40 arent worth it to me to buy a whole new marker. Granted I am running a F-16 bolt so some of the things I consider an upgrade for the bolt system like the fact that its not just a hollow face anymore are kind of negated. If I were in the market for something all new and had the money the IDOL would be on my list. But for those looking for a good tournament ready marker thats going to shoot in my opinion a very similar manner and have all the tool less features plus have a very good mechanical platform the TM is a killer deal right now. When you can buy a TM at a similar price point to shockers and even the 180r its definitely something you should look at.

Its cool and all if you got the money. But imo people just want performance and currently in paintball even some intro to mid tournament markers can give you that. Mini/axe,Etha/180 and so on.

I remember when the BKO came out back in early 2000s gun was beast didn't do what boblong or shocker or angel could. But was a really good gun had it for fun times.

Honestly, I run an Etha 2 and I love it. I want to upgrade but I cannot justify paying so much. I can’t fathom the economics behind how these prices are put together, even with markup. I play at a local field here in Cola and sometimes run up to Rock Thrill and play there. I might take a trip to chucktown sometime and see what it’s like down there!
Upgrading is great but youre in good hands with a Etha 2. I would just focus on spending money getting better at ball and having fun. Paintball Charleston is a great spot. If you like rec ball its the place to go.
I feel like the cheaper markers get the easier it will be for people to get into the sport competitively. Granted, i shot a mini for years before i just bought a new gun 😂. I just didn't want to spend the money until we got a good sponsor package.
Yeah I would love to see a sub $300 marker that can rival the mini. Im also in the same boat. My main marker was a CS2 for 4 years straight.
At 1800 with such minor practical changes, i dont believe it's worth it. The form changes are nice (screen trigger etc) and most of the other changes were fixing issues that a proper design should never have had to begin with. They sell the shocker era for 1k with the same core and i think that is priced too high as well. I remember buying my sl94 with a full barrel kit, different rammers, bolts, triggers, lprs, hp and lp poppits for 1700. The idols were having issues at vegas as well

Weird thinking these new paintball gun prices seem so much cheaper than the crazy auto cocker eblades and angels we used to see in the 90’s and early 00’s

@@MattTheGymRat Dude an angel used to be like 2k-3500 then you had to upgrade to a full freak barrel kit to save money and that was 250-400 or so depending on how many calibers you wanted the tubes for and barrel lengths. Then the gas system was like 400-700 bucks followed by a good hoper and those where 80-250. When it was all said and done I would have been happy to be done for 1000-1500 bucks but having pro level gear was gonna put you at 2k-5k for every thing. Could be more if you played competitive cause most of those guys had a spare gun. I was happy to only spend 1500-2500 on my full set up cause I was mid upper range of comp guns with my auto cocker or bob long set up. And don’t even get me started and building and fully tuning a from the ground up auto cocker with and blade…. It may have been cheaper but the man hours alone to get the thing to shoot right would out you over the top.
I was thinking the same thing! When I played in the mid 00’s, the Angel 4 was my dream marker. I was fresh out of high school and couldn’t fathom spending multiple thousands on one though. I had about $800 in my Dragun TES (with mods) and could barely compete with the Angels, Timmy’s and Autocockers. $1800 is still a lot of money, but it doesn’t seem like inflation has touched this market much, especially considering the amount of tech in these markets compared to 20 years ago!
The irony of the Gardeners nearly destroying the sport with patent lawsuits and then releasing a marker that has basically copied the Gamma Core from PE is not lost on me.

Glad someone pointed that out. Gun seemed like it saw a good handful of breaks "in the breach". Funny that one selling point is that its even better at shooting brittle paint? Whelp not so sure about that. But I am sure that my CS3 hasn't seen a broken ball in the breach since I bought it months ago. Great honest review though and way to just show it how it is without "prepping" the scene like most other people just looking to sell the next big ticket item 👍🏼
Prices are definitely have gone a little out of control. Remember the days for this price you would get something limited like PE SL and CSL versions.
To be honest the mid range options now are as good as the high end marker

I had a SL8R, CSL and CSR... pretty sure they were all like 1850..... when the luxe released the price points between it and the top lets say 5 high ends are about the same as they are today. "mid range" has become beyond that when the mid is now 1000-`1200 and things like mini,axe,czr are considered your entry level tournament marker when they would of been mid end about 8 yrs ago. Im a big proponent for a redesigned infinity legend as that marker offered so much in its price point and today manufacturing costs are actually less than they were back then as well as technologies improved that a revised 2.0 essentially of the legend and if able to maintain in that 7-800 range would outsell the 1k+ "mid end tier"

those were my two choices as well, F1 is rolling the V2's out so slow though and that efficiency video killed it for me. Im a efficiency snob just bc I mostly play big games/scenarios, but also bc i like to have air when im home so if i ever want to shoot, or im teching, or got new stuff to try out that I have air. but also a marker with great efficiency allows me to run a smaller tank when playing competitive, as with my the tm40 I had, the DLS I had I could run a 45/45 and still shoot my pack yet maintain a smaller profile with a smaller tank. If v2 could of matched the luxes efficiency Id prob of bought it bc i love the feel coming from 11 yrs of using a g6r but in short the Idol was my choice

I personally use a M3+ for NXL because we are a Dye sponsored team. If I had to choose one it would be either be the CS3, 180R or the DSR+ but I don't own any of them.

I got a TM40 and I don’t really see a difference at all. The screen looks awful and I’d much rather have a little screen. It’s not like you change the settings of the marker so often you’d need a screen as big as this. It just looks unfinished compared to the TM40 but maybe that changes. But degeneracy not worth the upgrade
I've never gotten into paintball, always been a speedQB guy, but the few paintball games I've played have been a blast.
I say that to say this:
From the outside looking in, watching hundreds of reviews on dozens of paintball markers over the years, it's become extremely apparent that these companies are charging you 100% for the machining and screwing you with everything else. Literally every marker review ends with a "6/10 or 7/10 just needs XYZ and the screen/buttons suck, but it's a great marker"
tippmann 98 custom is good for me
Does it shoot 10.5 bps? Is it gas efficient? Reliable? That's about all you need in a marker now. Use the 1800 dollars on actually playing paintball and get better. Besides going macro less and using 2 AAs i haven't seen much innovation in paintball markers in well over a decade.
Heck an automag RT can shoot ~25 bps without shoot down.
Youre right and those were some big changes. I think we are onto the era where we focus on efficiency and paint handling. Like the optimizing stages where as before we were in the early innovative stages of paintball markers.
@@MattTheGymRatI get that companies need a steady flow of revenue coming in to keep them afloat so it makes sense to tweak their markers, add blue tooth, fancy LED screens, etc. but in reality you could easily out gun all of the players on the field with an 07 ego and that's approaching 20 years old, gasp! Personally I think the big innovations need to come from figuring out how to popularize the sport (again?) and how to get an audience excited to watch it. I don't know if electronic markers are the answer/solution there, perhaps pump markers would be far better since there would be far more movement on the field. Figuring out how to make paintballs better/cheaper would be another large area of improvement. As far as efficiency goes is that really a major concern? What's really stopping people from buying two 68/4500 tanks if they need to? Just my two cents on things especially hopping back into paintball after a few years of not playing.

I always look at paintball guns like cars. The most expensive ones do the same things as cheaper ones just better with more features. So its all up to the person buying it.

Used market is a great choice. I always recommend looking there for more affordable prices but I always refer to it the same as buying used cars. You have to to go in expecting so wear and tear from previous owners.
No pb gun is worth 1800 that us not some kind of fine vintage cocker...that being said i just bought 1 of these anyway..

NOTE: If you bought a model year 2001 Angel with today’s money, it would cost over $2600. Prices have significantly fallen. Also paintball guns are not like other pieces of technology because manual labor makes up a significant portion of the cost of creating a paintball marker. Additionally they don’t really benefit from economies of scale, because the quantity being produced in the first place is not particularly large. Worker wages in China have also increased.
as a fan of the luxe the price is way to high both these tournament guns are not worth the money and I always by them used .

After your latest mini videos, there really is no reason to spend this much. A midrange is about all you need at most. I remember when $1200 was the most expensive you could buy but that was before this inflation junk. I think tops for the average baller is around 1k but the smart guy buys a year or two old marker for half the price. Look at the TM40s now selling around 700 or even less!

Yeah its not alot but I pushed for it to happen so anyone who wanted the marker would be able to get something extra for free. Its not big but it was my idea so my viewers could get something applicable to the gun. Im just trying to make sure the people who support me get something out of it.

Ok.. so take away all the “features” and tell me what it does better then say etha 3? Both shoot fragile paint, both are nxl capable.. honestly seems like the only advantage is if your lazy and don’t wanna spend time maintaining your gear. For the price difference you really arnt getting shit
I understand what youre saying but i would say the same about anything else high end. Take away the features of a Ferrari and it still goes 60mph like a 1990 honda civic, but if you want the best experience all around you spend more money to get the better features and experience.

Deff is not worth the cost, especially when you can get an Etha 3 for like under 600. However, it is deff a better marker, but over 1k better? Nope. I'm probably still gonna buy one, but. Just saying.
