- I join some friends for a cycle ride out to the East Coast leaving Clapham early on a Saturday to make our way over to Whitstable.

Think I can beat that smell reference. Sunday last weekend (19 May) when it was lovely and sunny too, I was just finishing my ride at around 12;30-1:00pm. riding past houses with that perfect blend of cut grass you already mentioned but then a Sunday lunchtime BBQ scent in the air. Was divine.
I can only imagine- we just need a few more hot weekends and this will be a reality

Whitstable is on the north Kent coast to be precise. Lovely looking ride. Probably impractical for me as home is in Canterbury, not far from Whitstable. The stop in West Malling was spooky for me as I used to work in that little yard where you stopped back in the early 80s. Completely different back then. I may well try a ride that takes in West Malling and back to Canterbury via Whitstable! I did Ride London this year and last too. Thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks for dropping this video. My family live in Whitstable and have been planning a route just this weekend from london. This looked great so will now use this. Regarding coming home,did you have to go to canterbury or straight to London from Whitstable
Straight from Whitstable to London Victoria for the princely sum of £31. Even though the weather was great we all got seats in an empty carriage with our bikes. Worked out nicely for use. Trains leave every hour at about half past the hour. *I think

@@thewattlife I want to get my wife a bike, but I hear it can be hard for women to fit - would be interesting to have a video on that if the ladies in your life have some thoughts and insights on that!
My wife is a beach cruiser kind of bike rider, not a “lean forward” bike rider as she likes to call it. Slowly but surely, I’ll get her to come around and grab herself a sweet road bike
Is it a wonder so many motorists have problems with cyclists when people are riding no hands filming themselves for their UA-cam channel? Yes you'll do more damage to yourself then them if you fall off in front of their car, but why even bother?
