    Doc explains how weeds can actually grow even though your lawn preemergent has been applied. Most lawn preemergent treatments prevent 60 - 90% of the weeds on the first application. Learn about the split application and why it works so well.

    I was late putting down granular pre-emerg for the first time last week in Northern Louisiana and I'm afraid the rainstorm 2 days later washed it out. I would put fungicide down today but in 2 days from now another heavy rainstorm is here. I have the worst winter kill and now fungus in the 5 years I've lived in the south. Crazy southern weather!

    You can't get it right in south carolina. The extremes starting in January through early March vary so much. You can never time your pre emergent with germination. This year especially will be another year with a bermuda lawn full of weeds.

    Doc... can pre-emergent be put out too soon? Does the fluctuating soil and air temps screw up the effectiveness of the PE? I am in Upstate SC and I have not put out my PE yet but I have had a lot of weeds in the past few weeks because of our snap summer temps. I have sprayed them with Weed killer for now but I really hate putting that on my lawn. But the wife HATES seeing the weeds....arrgghhh! LOL! Thank you for your help!

    Hey Doc, getting excited after binge watching your video and going over your advice on your guides. I live on the eastern shore of Virginia, soil temps hitting the low 50’s now. My yard is mostly weeds, predominate grass is wild common Bermuda with sprinkles of different fescues. I was planning on embracing the common Bermuda and start cutting with a rotary mower about and inch to 1.5 inches. I would like to get some product down soon. Looking and using a hose end spectracide weed stop to kill cold season weeds, throwing down some prodiamine to help suppress warm season weeds, some pgf balance, and humichar. Is this too much to soon, am I crazy for embracing common Bermuda. I would eventually like to smoke the whole yard off and seed a turf type Bermuda after I get irrigation. Front and side yard are about 15,000 square feet and total yard about 22,000 square feet, not fun to water when Mother Nature isn’t providing.

    Doc, I currently use the the little green bottles to apply liquid product to my yard, be it pre emergent, super juice, or insecticide. It takes about 20 bottles to get around the yard. I would like to go to a 25 gal tank sprayer I can pull behind the mower instead of dragging the hose all around the property. I'm concerned about not having enough water volume when I put down the product. I believe you did a video where you talk about water volume vs product at some point. Is say a 25 gallon tank sprayer pumping 2.5 GPM adequate for applying say 4 galllons of mixed product. I would appreciate your feedback

    Hey Doc, one side of my lawn is like gray/green hazy looking. I have been watering it and it's been raining heavily here. I'm not sure if this is a grey leaf fungus or if It's still coming out of dormancy. I've noticed little yellow circles randomly on that same side of the yard. Just looking for some advice on what this could be so I can treat it properly. I could also send a picture if you'd like.

    Doc, I'm in memphis, TN. I've been watching your vids for a while, now, and honestly, until this year it didn't make a huge difference, as we were using a lawn service. Unfortunately, we were let down by our service last year (so we aren't using them anymore) and we didn't get a head start on our lawn. We want it to look nice, and we're committed to it being better. Effectively, we've probably done nothing to the lawn since the service was fired in the early fall. Now, we've had warmer than expected weather, and I'm late with pre-emergent (as well as other things, I know). However, I was planning to still put down the Spectracide from Lowe's as a pre-emergent today, as well as killing the numerous weeds we've got with the liquid spray spectracide. Is this counter-productive? How would you go forward? We've got a pretty good amount of weeds (various) coming up, but it doesn't look heinous out front. The back looks worse, but that's a whole 'nuther story. Thoughts, suggestions? I just bought the spectracide granular (pre-emergent you recommend) and the brown bottle with orange cap stuff for killing off the stuff that's already sprouted.

    My Auburn University Soil Lab tests report (12 samples of each the front and back yards at 4 inches deep), of February 13th, indicates the following;
    Phosphorus (P) is medium.
    Very high in Potassium (K)
    High in both Magnesium and Calcium.
    On 2/28 I applied PGF 10-10-10.
    Therefore whenever I fertilize this spring/summer I believe it only needs a N-0-0 fertilizer to maintain a proper balance of NPK . . . Such as a 16-0-0, 25-0-0 or 34-0-0 granular product. Hopefully with Iron content. What do you recommend for my first fertilizer ?
