- My Porsche 718 Cayman 4.0 has finally been built and the my Porsche tracking app has changed over to phase 4. Updates on build dates and time lines for production of my 718.
I eventually received confirmation that the Porsche Cayman was finished and had hit it's first check point for shipping.
Taking a look at all the dates I was given and then checking into the phase 4 part of the app and the production photos I received from the factory of my Porsche 718 GTS.

Can't wait to hear your review of it. I've had my deposit on a 992 C2 for 10 months now, my Porsche dealer told me that they haven't had any updates but the BOSE system has now been dropped from my config. Apparently it will come back but whether or not it'll be on my car remains to be seen.
I keep being told that they are trying to step up production to bring down the backlog. So they must be dropping parts or changing them to keep production moving where they have delays. Fingers crossed it starts to move for you the 992 C2 is a great car I enjoyed mine. Be worth the wait.
High end of the range are prioritized for the limited Bose supplies. Burmester is sufficient quantities if you’re interested.
Good to hear it’s built. Look forward to seeing it when it’s delivered
My car arrived on 28th in Grimsby also. Just been told it’s due on Tuesday next week to be delivered to Aberdeen.
Ah okay well maybe mine wont be far off then. I think I went through this when my 992 was on it’s way. It all depends one where it was on the ship and how fast it comes off onto a delivery truck. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for next week too!
Good news Steven, glad to hear your about to take delivery of your new car. Clearly its been very frustrating for you, but I bet your well excited that the long wait is nearly over. To be honest I am very disappointed at Porsche UK's lack of customer communication from my own experience. On a positive note I entered phase 3 for my Agate Grey 718 Cayman GTS at the end of August, a long wait as the car was ordered last year 23rd July. I received an email 2 days ago from my dealership to advise the car was now well in production and they would be back in contact once the car was at Port Emden. I can't have long to wait as the car is forecast to be delivered to the dealership on the 1st November give or take a day or two so the dealership still insist.
For info I also lost my LED light option, but the BOSE option is still in there.
Yes the dealer can see alot on their screens for timing on the car so once it actually gets started they can see movements and they can tell you what’s happening. I got blow by blow info from them once it finally came out of the factory so I think you will find it does move on time. On the Bose I was there at the dealer today and they had cars on site that were waiting to be fitted with Bose speakers. So it seems like they are sending finished cars and getting the dealer to fit the speakers to get the cars moving.
Many congrats on your inbound collection! Such a cracking car and you will love it for sure 🎉
Cheers Sam! Hope things are going well with you too!
Lucky guy! Exciting seeing the photos of the actual car. Not heard a peep on mine yet, ordered mid Feb, not even locked in the spec yet so still waiting for that call.
Yeah I’m the same except mine was ordered June.. they expect mid to late 2024 delivery… (911)
Put my order for a 992 Carrera 4s in August. Saw a Cayman GTS in person and changed my order the next day. Now getting a GTs 4.0 manual. Love your channel
I’d never seen the GTS in real life till I booked it on my outstanding experience day. I knew I would be happy with it after I’d been in it. Thanks hopefully some good ownership feedback on the GTS. Not long it’s at the dealer now.
Finally!
Looking forward to seeing it.
Lack of dealer communication (from factories to dealers) is really frustrating.
Yeah I just had to keep checking in with them. I don’t they know much more than what the screens tell them either. Sounds like changes happening at the main factories too.
Received my GTS4.0 from Aberdeen 25th July, just over 1 year after ordering.
I found the pictures on the app from the build process (3 total) updated in a very adhoc manner and more appeared after the car was shipped. So I'd keep checking (though mine was Zuffenhausen).
Hope you're as pleased with it as I am mine.
Ah okay ill keep an eye on it then. The whole process seems to have gone askew since the August shutdown so I’ll be surprised if i see more but I will check back. Somehow phase 4 got removed and then it back yesterday with that days date. So who know what’s happening. Someone changed something somewhere on it.
Steve - Im in the US. I ordered a 992 One Year Ago and recently went through the same wait and delays you have experienced. The recent photos that Porsche provided me of my 992 under production were the same EXACT two angles you received for your 718... EXACT !! So those must be the only two pics they are providing peeps these days. FYI - my car just arrived by ship to the US and scheduled to be delivered within the next 2 weeks !!
I had a conversation with the dealer about it and they have said there seems to have been some major moving around of the factory lines. So that must be the only 2 points where they are taking photos at the moment then! So maybe it hasn’t moved factory but they have resetup the production lines. That’s good news then it seems things are moving again, hopefully other people waiting see some positive movements as well! Thanks for the info!
My gts 4.0 was ordered April 22 . Build locked down August 22, due delivery end of October to dealer. Spoke to dealer 2 weeks ago and told delivery still on schedule end of October 22.
Think it likely will be now as they seem to be getting things moving again. Whatever they were doing around the August break seems to have been sorted.
Now been told possible further delays. Was end of October but now mid to end of November?
Porsche GTS 4.0.
Dealer said that it could be anytime as other orders had been delayed but then suddenly appeared at port. He said take any estimate with a pinch of salt!
Be thankful. My Boxster GTS 4.0 has been on order since July 2021 and I've been told I won't be given a build date until next year. When next year is the question. At this rate it could easily be 2 years from putting down my deposit to seeing the car
I was told by my dealer that at the moment the factory is just building 4.0 cayman and boxster models. So if thats’s true you might find it comes sooner. Just depends how many orders are in front of yours and how many build allocations your dealer gets each time. That’s the other main factor. Ask the dealer how many orders are ahead of yours, they will be able to tell you.
@@Get10Yards Thanks
Ordered my UK spec Boxster GTS June 21 and build now due last week of Oct22. Be aware price is not protected ie the £3k increase this June 22 will be passed on to you if you ordered before then (unless the dealer was naive enough to guarantee it in writing at the point of order).
Think that picture of your car is at zuffenhasen, mine is exactly the same
I want to see it!
Thanks for the update. My dealer said my car should arrive late November/early December. However, nothing shows on the Porsche website or app. The configuration is there, nothing else. Do you think there should be some official notification there by now?
If you are that far down the line your car must be scheduled for production. I would speak to the dealer if your account isn’t at stage 3. Check they have your email correct for your Porsche account against your order.
Thanks. There are no stages on the site/app. I have just emailed my OPC to query this issue.
Hi , I made my contract for a GTS 4.0 on 26 June. However, I have nothing heard so far about a possible production/delivery date. this is very poor info from the Porsche Dealer and Porsche itself... I m getting upset more and more the longer it takes until I get at least a production date... cheers Thomi
Placing an order with the dealer and putting down a holding deposit is just a way of getting you in the queue at the dealer.
If you are passed that and they have said your order is accepted by the factory and scheduled for production that’s different and it means the dealer has an allocation for production at the factory for you. The dealer has to just wait and see what the factory does as they are having major part issues and can’t complete cars.
If you’ve seen from the number of times my scheduled build date was pushed back. Things are far from normal at the minute. With my 992 pre covid and Ukraine issues the build went like clockwork. All manufacturers are suffering the same issues.
So if you have a build allocation from the 26th sit tight things seem to be moving now. My allocation came through in March. It took till August for the build to physically start.
In the UK the wait seems to vary from 7 months to 18 months depending upon individual dealership allocations, how important you are to that dealership, and options you specified.
