Fear & Hunger is also brilliant in a way that doesn't get discussed because of the amount of the sparse progress the boys made in just an hour but. While there is hunger in the game you barely think about it for a long long time, because it's your fear/the danger that gates your progress. But once you finally have he confidence in how the game works and don't really feel as much tension from that side of things anymore, you begin to want to explore and learn about the story and the amount of food you have to do so starts becoming a factor and gets very tense again with a resource that once felt infinite growing increasingly and rapidly finite. It really is great in that respect.
@@the_shadow_clasher the problem is when arcane premiered the first 3 episodes came out at the same time. We get a full grasp of what is to come after watching all 3 episodes hence why joey wasn't hooked after one.
The thing about Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is that it’s not meant to be an intro into FMA. That’s why the first episode is a bad first episode because the people making Brotherhood expected its viewers to have already read the manga or watched 2003 anime adaptation. That’s why the beginning is so rushed and also why the first chapter doesn’t actually get adapted until episode 3.
Honestly I'd recommend the first 25 episodes of FMA 2003 even above the manga. The beginning being so solid in the original anime is the reason why it became so legendary among Western fans of anime. And although the rest of the story has some hiccups, I believe watching all of it does add to your enjoyment of Brotherhood. The 2003 version sets expectations for the outcome of the story, and the way Brotherhood breaks them functions as a powerful plot twist in its own right, similarly to how some well-written VNs like Fate/Stay Night use the route system to subvert expectations. Especially that one scene right after the diverging point is made much more epic by this mechanism---because of my experience with 2003, that scene completely blew my mind, and to this day it remains one of the most memorable scenes I've seen in any anime.
As an FMA fan, I love the 2003 version over Brotherhood. It did the early arcs better and tied them into an alternate conclusion in a better way. The early 2000s humor didn't quite come off as humor but as character quirks to cope with the dark situation.

The first 13 episodes are basically just a recap to where the original anime started shifting away from the source material so the real start of FMA brotherhood is actually episode 14

I'm a bit iffy. The 1 hour was somewhat of a problem already in this ep, though I understand why they didn't do more. Largely this was more like a "react" or "first impressions". This really works better with something shorter (Goodby Eri) or one where the beginning has wild content (Fear and Hunger). I think being forced to consume content colors people's perception as well. I mostly liked this episode, but maybe slightly more niche, shorter stuff? Liked this better than their 5x5 eps.
@shadowreacts5618 Nice bait, it was like the 100th show I watched and still one of my top 10. Saying something is mid and your reasoning being YOU couldnt get invested without saying anything else is laughable
@shadowreacts5618don’t know what more you can want from a show, good ost, plot twists, world building, likeable characters, good villain, a satisfying ending, interesting power system, and good animation. What more can you want ?
They should've told Joey to watch the first 3 episodes of Arcane, because for anyone who hasn't seen it, episodes 1 & 2 are mainly "Here's this world, characters, and gorgeous animation" but episode 3 is the real "HOLY SHIT!" moment that hooks ANYONE who watches the show. And after that happens, the story really gets darker, with both the dialogue and animation getting better and better.
Imo saying you gave arcane a shot by watching 1 episode is equivalent to saying you watched 1/3rd of breaking bads 1st episode Am I right or am I right

@@marcorodriguez8792 Natsuo's character arc with being an author in college is absolutely brilliant. One of my favorite character developments I've ever read. Everything else is meh.
@@dreambiscuits that's definitely not the best character development ever. Because I watch a good chunk of good written romance manga either yuri or normal manga. This type of thing of exploring a character's journey to achieve what he or she wants from their life is very common. This is a troupe I would say. Domestic girlfriend is fine but I see a lot of manga with even better development.

Making Joey watch the first episode of Arcane when it's meant to be watched 3 episodes by 3 is a crime
see i didn't even know that, and fortunately I had the time when i watched it. i see myself having the same opinion as Joey if i also didn't have much time
that would’ve been a little over 2 hours tho everybody else only did an hour per
Makes you wonder why they divide it into episodes that you aren't supposed to stop at in the first place

Only the first four episodes tho lmao

Why is Garnt so good at explaining stuff in such a way that makes me have to try them
Because Garnt pays attention to the shit he watched unlike the other two
Does take him forever to get sentences out with "umms" and pauses or annoyingly repeating words numerous times - I prefer Joey's takes in general too

Easily one of the best Trash Taste episode. Personally and objectively. The Fear and Hunger segment alone I CANT BELIEVE THEY FINALLY PLAYED IT
i love the forcing each other to do stuff premise, such an enjoyable thing to watch. regardless of their feel, you have one person keenly invested in it
Hopefully when they let the Patreons choose next time they don’t solely choose the most depraved/degenerate stuff….
@@Mellow_Yellow13 and to give a bit more time per series/game etc. 1 hour for some games or 1 episode for a series seems so short
They should force Joey to watch MCU Phase 1.
Garnt has finally fulfilled the prophecy... This truly has been a Full Metal Alchemist
that's just straight 🧢🧢
it's fair if FMAB isn't for you
BUT it in noway is *"Mid"*
@shadowreacts5618I saw many good Animes before watching Brotherhood and it still went hard for me personally.
@shadowreacts5618what did you stop at ?
They should've told Joey to watch the first 3 episodes of Arcane, because for anyone who hasn't seen it, episodes 1 & 2 are mainly "Here's this world, characters, and gorgeous animation" but episode 3 is the real "HOLY SHIT!" moment that hooks ANYONE who watches the show. And after that happens, the story really gets darker, with both the dialogue and animation getting better and better.
Imo saying you gave arcane a shot by watching 1 episode is equivalent to saying you watched 1/3rd of breaking bads 1st episode
Am I right or am I right
I stopped after the third episode, felt the story was predictable and saw no reason to continue. What was the holy shit moment? That they went separate ways?
@@martin4769 Did you suffered brain damage or something? (Legit worry) What the fuck are you talking about? @@martin4769 Do you suffer brain damage? How can you call something predictable when you didn't even watched the pay-off, you watched the set up!
Everything got darker, and the story only gets better and better. Also stop lying, you didn't blindly watched episode one and thought "Oh, this character will die in episode 3 in this specific way" 🤓 You know that never happened.
@@martin4769 I mean I think its fine people that got to episode 3 and didint wanna continue its just not for you, but u gotta be trolling with the wondering what thw moment was or summing it up to "they went separate ways" that's wild hahahaha

Man, this was a pretty historical episode of Trash Taste, and so entertaining to listen. I genuinely want them to continue hate-reading Domestic Girlfriend and sharing their thoughts.
Honestly it's kinda sad that everyone remembers "YOU SHALL NOT PASS" but not the words that he spoke before that, cause the whole is speech is just fire...
THE DARK FIRE WILL NOT AVAIL YOU, FLAME OF UDUN!
tbf, since most people haven’t read the silmarillion, they wouldn’t know the context behind gandalf’s words. so i think most ppl think it’s a spell or just plain gibberish. but i agree, gandalf revealing his true identity to the balrog is the best part.
@@some1donkus In the cinematic release there are very few direct hints at the grand story of the world. The first hint is that it's the third age, but also the whole balrog interaction directly referencing an even higher power sending him back with intent.
@@some1donkus you definitely do not need to have read silmarillion to memorize the lines lol and there's no way in hell that everyone who has memorized the lines all have read the silmarillion
@@some1donkus yeah it's probably because most people don't know about the whole history of the world, and the reason I said it's sad it's cause Gandalf actually using his maiar powers against Durin's Bane hits way more if you know what that means for him
to be fair the line is just catchy and easy to remember
I mean this with my whole heart, arcane is not the type of show where the first episode will give you a full idea of how incredible it is. I’d say the first three or four are NECESSARY and absolutely worth it.
