    MR. PEACE.You and MR.WALDT are the most informative turners on You Tube. While many are artistic, and turn beautiful pieces, they lack information that is CRUCIAL to new bees such as myself. We need to know DETAIL, in the tennons, and the morteses, the use of tools and what tools to use, etc. Not just for beginners to end with a nice piece, but more over for their SAFETY in doing so. This is ONLY accomplished by verbal instruction as well as visual. Keep on being you, obviously talented, but a master of instruction! Thank you.

    As always, beautiful work. Being a new turner. I watch as many videos as possible. Thank you Mike.

    I like the little stand Mike, great way to keep enjoying a piece that would otherwise be banished to a box in the closet for 11 months out of the year. Thanks!

    Great little project Mike, nice and easy...and no hollowing required!
    Thanks for taking us through your methods to achieve this beautiful ornament.
    Cheers

    Cool project. Between this and the trees I think have some gifts sorted for this year. 👍

      These are so much faster than hollow globe ornaments. Just do not make them too big or they are heavy!

    Thank you, Mike. Yesterday I stood in front of my lathe hoping to make an ornament out of a birch branch similar in size to yours, but I hadn’t any idea how to hold it in the lathe.
    I’m ready to go today. Good information here. Merry Christmas!

    The second in my Christmas ornament project video view!! If you didn't have a master ornament to start with, I certainly don't, what or how would you plan out the project? Secondly, you use a LOT of different tools for this project. Did you really need them all or did you use them to show all the different tools that could be used? If you were doing this on your own, which tool or tools would you use, just curious here. Thanks for the video, take care and stay safe!!!

      I could have skipped the 1/2 spindle gouge. But I would generally rough with a spindle roughing gouge, chuck tenon with a beading and parting tool, details with a spindle gouge, and part off with a parting tool so I would say 4 for a typical spindle project.

      @@MikePeaceWoodturning Where would have a skew played a part if at all? Thanks for the reply, much appreciated.

    Very much enjoyed watching the finesse with which you created the ornament. So delicate & refined compared to 'hogging out' a bowl. A great reminder to get started on all those Christmas Presents, also. Thanks Mike

    Nice work Mike. Always an inspiration. You could have held that ball against a scrap piece of wood to prevent a blow out. Our club challenge this fall is to decorate a 6' Christmas tree for charity. Will definitely try your technique. Thanks

    whats the reason for not cutting "uphill"?

    • @MikePeaceWoodturning
      @MikePeaceWoodturning  6 років тому +1

      Cutting uphill means you cut into end grain, a poor quality cut that lifts the fibers. Watch this ua-cam.com/video/6cJONF2YM8Y/v-deo.html&lc=UgwFLa3ub56m7lgwqeR4AaABAg
