Excellent review. Thank you very much for providing such clear and articulate information with the accompanying visuals. This was extremely helpful for me. Look forward to more videos.
That basket looks like a great iteration on the original design. The Burrough Basket is the single most versatile bag in the Brompton line up. Lightweight, carry’s a large travel bag then simply put your travel bag on your back and it serves as a grocery bin as you get closer to your accommodation. It’s become the only Brompton bag I use. What does this version weigh?
Right. I found that to be the best feature on that bag. Really simple and quick to turn it from a basket to a fully closed roll top which can be very handy in different situations. They advertise the weight of 595g but I am pretty sure this doesn't include the frame. With the frame I would say it is just a little lighter than my large Borough Bag.
@@BromptonTraveler Wow that’s surprisingly light even without the frame! This is looking looking like a really cool upgrade. I like the versatility provided by the webbing and it’s something I have been considering adding to my Burrough along with the ability to use a better shoulder strap for those times I am shouldering it. I'm not sure I would use the roll-top feature but perhaps I haven't come across the use case yet. If I need to cover the Burrough now I just put the rain cover on. The roll-top does allow access to the zippered pocket so that would be more convenient but it is the roll-top waterproof? Thanks for the feedback.
It is PU coated and like most Cordura cycling bags, are water repellent rather than waterproof. From my experience with other bags, they cope well with rain unless you are using them for hours under heavy rain. If that is the case a rainproof cover is probably needed. Good thing is that you can find many cheap covers online that do the trick very well. I use 45L backpack rainproof covers which cost 10 Euros or USD at most and fit these bags sideways very well. Cheers
Tomorrow I head out from Marseillan to Sete-end of canals des deux Mers-been riding my Brompton in France for three days now-just short trips but wow have I been impressed with its speed and robustness and it’s ability to keep up with normal size bikes-also I’ve found the Brompton borough back excellent-particularly the double zipped front compartment-the capacity and quality are excellent! Any recommendations on a rack bag?
Great to hear James. If you have seen other videos you know i use a backpack setup when touring. The only rack bag I have experience with and can recommend is the Vincita which you will see reviewed on my channel. Capacity is not huge but if it is enough for the travel you do, it is a simple way to carry stuff on the rear rack. Cheers
Hi Gianni, thanks for your videos, I always watch them all. One question.. I am planning on cyclying the German and Austrian segments of the Danube cycle path this coming Sept. In your broad knowledge and experience, can one wild camp or should I plan on reaching a campsite?
Thanks Fernando. Each route is different and I haven’t done the Danube yet myself. I did the Rhine last year which I assume is quite similar and would say that a combination of campsite and wild camping is the best. There might be times when a decent spot is not easy to find but most days you are likely to be ok finding a spot.
Hello sir, I would like to ask you a suggestions about Kinetics Rohloff 20 inch wheels triable and fork modifications. Have you ever tired it? How does it fold and work. Thanks in advance
Sorry I can’t help you as I have never tried kinetics modification. A good friend of mine had rolhoff installed on a Brompton by them and I know they are one of the best places to carry out specialised mod. Cheers
