    I went out and got a Cafe Racer partly on the back of this video. I am not disappointed at all. Having had Fire blades and every version of the R1 previously I wanted to put back some of the fun factor. You can get around the difficult neutral issue by selecting it just before you come to a stop and making sure the chain is not too tight. Ohlins suspension front and back is well worth the money. Thank you for a good honest review.

    Great Job reviewing the CR! I rolled the dice and purchased one back in may without riding it first. It's refreshing to see a review while putting it through the paces. Been nice to see this prior to my purchase but it worked out...great job.

    Mate, loved your review, bought this bike myself today and can't wait to get my backside on the seat. One thing, PLEASE do not risk your life to bring us these reviews. Call me boring, but some of what I just watched was only a dumb car driver away from death. When you ride, always think of the person you love most. Because their life is on your back seat. Ride safely mate. But I did enjoy it nonetheless...

    I had a scrambler and the trick to getting it into neutral is to do it while still rolling, for example if you see the lights just change and you know you are going to be sitting for a while, then slip it into neutral as you approach the lights, just before you stop. I had the same problems with finding neutral.

  • @StarManProduction
    @StarManProduction 7 років тому +5

    "suicidal pigeon" got me literally laughing out loud haha... Ive had this bike for a month and everything you said is accurate. As for the Neutral, I finally got the sweet spot, but I think it's all Ducati that have that issue. I rode the Ducati Super Sport today and that bike I couldn't for the life of me get it into Neutral. At times with the Ducati Scrambler I didn't even feel if I went into gear, so transmission wise I personally think is the weakest point on this (if not all Ducati) bike.
    I actually had the 2014 Triumph Thruxton 900 prior, and that was a solid machine engine wise. but it felt heavy, the brakes were mushy, and the suspension was soft.

      How's the comfort for long distance rides? For example, let say you wanted to ride the whole day, would it be too much for your lower back?

    • @StarManProduction
      @StarManProduction 6 років тому

      Hello Mikey. I get no back discomfort at all, but then again I'm 5 foot 6 inches so the bike fits me perfectly without me being hunched over (if you are a taller rider, you may be hunched over and could cause back discomfort). My complaint is how hard the seat is. My bum becomes numb after an hour of highway riding. The clip ons are comfortable enough to where it doesn't put strain on your wrists. I can do all day on fun twistie roads as my body shifts position a lot as i lean in, but i could not do 2 hours of straight highway riding on this bike.

    Sounds like a fun bike. So what are some bikes could you recommend that don’t fall apart when you push them and that you feel connected to like this one and that maybe don’t have snatchy throttle at low speeds? I had fun once driving a lightweight Honda CBR300R..you could toss it around so easy. Thanks.

    Hi Bennie, I have a question. As the Monster 821 is very similarly priced to the Scrambler Cafe Racer, it would seem more people would opt for the 821, even though it seems the cafe racer handles better, though once again, the increased power is extremely tempting that people would sacrifice a lil mobility for that power as the Monster 821 still has great maneuverability. Being on both bikes (though I didn't ride them), the cafe racer seems perfect as I'm able to flat foot it and control it better vs the 821 that I think it's more of a perfect first bike. Be that as it may, the price similarity as the Cafe Racer is priced too high that it's essentially the same as the monster 821, the price similarity bugs me that the cafe racer should be priced lower. So my question to you is vs the Monster 821, what specs and special capabilities/parts does the cafe racer have that makes it better than the monster 821 that makes it worth the price of the cafe racer?

    I own this bike. The neutral thing is really only an issue until the bike is broken in. I have no issues finding neutral now after 900 miles.. It needs a proper exhaust though. The stock "Termi" sounds good at low speed but at 50-60 and up you cannot hear it over the windnoise..

    T
    Changing a few cosmetic peices of a dirt bike Does Not a Cafe Racer make! Their original Scrambler is more of a dirt bike is more dirt bike than a Scrambler. Scramblers originally were modified street bikes, even factory scramblers were based on one of their street bike models. Thus today's scramblers are more dirt bike than scramblers, so this"Cafe Racer" Is not a scrambler or a cafe racer.

    • @benniehitchcock
      @benniehitchcock  7 років тому +5

      These are more than just cosmetic changes from the standard scrambler. Besides the Scrambler isn't really a dirt bike any way. The cafe racer has completely different suspension, different sized wheels and tyres, different swingarm, different chassis geometry, different seat and different brakes. Hardly just cosmettic changes. Really it's just the chassis and the engine (which comes from the Monster) that are simlar, but there's even some differences there too. It's like saying the KTM Enduro 690 isn't a dirt bike because it uses the same engine and chassis as the Duke 690. Both are completely different bikes even thought they share the same chassis and engine.The Scrambler desert sled is more of an off roader, but even so still has a lot of road bias.

    • @racerj2.03
      @racerj2.03 7 років тому

      Bennie Hitchcock I don't denie I that those things were changed, however the frame is still a dirt bike frame! Look at on the side and tell me that it has the Stance of a low slung Cafe Racer, or an in the sky stance of a dirt bike.
