Straight to the point, confirming gesso not needed if the canvas says it’s already primed! You’re literally the only one I’ve found that clarifies this, thank you
What would happen if I apply gesso to an already primed canvas? I’ve just done this by accident and I’m wondering if it will affect anything? If not that’s totally cool 😂
I now only paint whit himi miya gouache 56 set and i love them. I don,t use acrylic gouache. I make my own canvas boards. I use cardboard and 300gsm watercolour paper. I glue the watercolour paper on the cardboard and i use a glue spray from the action to glue them on the cardboard. I gesso from Blickweijs a dutch brand to gesso my diy canvas boards 😊👍🏾👋🏾✌🏾😁
Thanks. I just bought a $7 set of cheap acrylic paints and even cheaper brushes. I don't even know if this will be a long term hobby or just something I'll play with over the summer.
Hello! Your video is really helpful but still I need guide. Today I did the painting and it’s doesn’t turn out good so I did it again with yellow under paint and tried to make it with blue and yellow sunset. Little bit it’s showing that are not neat. (Don’t know what it’s called) My canvas is pre primed but do I need really gesso or not? Kindly tell me what to do?

How long does Gesso need to dry before painting on the mdf board?
How thin or how thick do we need to put gesso on canvas that pre primer and the canvas that not primered yet, hopping for the answer ASAP
Pre-primed canvases don’t really need much more so 1 layer is fine. For canvases without primer, about 2-3 layers should be good.
Very useful
