The hype surrounding Splatoon 1 was so real back in 2014. I truly miss those days. I was never good at it either but man was it fun
The hype was not like any other! Arguably the most hype Wii U game! It was a grand time!
This video was randomly recommended to me and I’m glad it was because I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of your commentary! As someone who’s been playing since the global testfire on the Wii U it was really sad to see it go (especially because I COMPLETELY forgot about the Wii U servers shutting down until it was too late so I never got to play on the official servers before they went dark)

This video is absolutely one of my favorites ever, both of yours and on UA-cam. It was an incredible retrospective, it boosted my love for the series further, and I was honored to be able to splat it up with you in the game's final months.

YES I'm so glad you agree about the map layouts ! Sure some maps could be frustrating but I liked how big they were and how some of the pathing was done. I mainly stealth played in splatoon one using the sploosh o matic with its beakons, and using beakons in 2 felt so pointless cause all the maps were so small. There's a bit more balance in three but UGH I still miss some of the splat 1 stages.
Also imo the DJ Octavio fight is still my favorite final boss fight in the trilogy. Partially because I love his music but also because it just felt so much more tense and challenging than the other two final bosses?? At least 3 was a step up from 2 haha
I'll miss the maps of this game, and the specials. OG Killer Wail is still my favorite special of all time and it's successor in 3 is just not good enough
You bring up a lot of good points that I agree on! Yeah there was something special about the first stages compared to the others, and I am truly going to miss them. And I agree, that DJ Octavio boss fight is so good (and also challenging too) worth the price of 1 alone.
