But, in Shirley's older versions she is portraying someone more bitter about never finding Mr. Right. Shirley is able to sing this song any way she likes, but as she got older she chose this arrangement for this song. This is what makes her unique in comparison to all the rest.

Singers of today have sophisticated technology that allows a artist with a very weak voice to sell millions of records, and performing any such vocal exercises are out of the question. But most of the younger generation who accidently find one of Shirley's clips, and who are unbiased will come to the conclusion that, at least in the case of Shirley Bassey, it has paid off for her.

I was stunned...she is presently 84 yrs old & unbelievably her voice is stronger now than it was in her prime. What really amazes me is that booming voice comes from the body of a 5'3" tall person- truly a gift from above.
